Plenty of words have more than one correct spelling - just look at the difference between British English and American English:This one has me a bit puzzled. Why would both spellings be correct? I know that it is listed but, why? When I was growing up there was only one spelling and that was Bus and the plural was Buses. Why would that have changed? When I see busses all I can think of is a swarm of bee's. (yes, I know that's buzz, but still.)
Do you suppose someone of "power" spelled it incorrectly and no one had the nerve to tell them so it just got included?
Either way, correct or accidental, it looks foolish and like a 1st grade spelling test to put that many s's in a six letter word. Even my spell check rejects it. So, I will continue to spell it the proper way instead of phonically.
neighbour vs. neighbor
colour vs. color
realise vs. realize
haemoglobin vs. hemoglobin
oestrogen vs. estrogen
Both are technically correct, although British publications and education stick to one and Americans to the other.
While I think the person in front of you may have over-reacted, I also think the CM was in the wrong for leaving you all there. If there was room on the boat for everyone why couldn't everyone share in the magic? Not to mention that some people may have actually wanted to get back to their resort.think-like-tink said:Last year we wanted to try to catch wishes from the water taxi going to the Poly. There were a few people in front of us, we should have been able to fit all on one boat. I was excited. Well, the skipper got to talking with the first couple for a while. Wishes had started and the mom in front of us got really, really mad. The skipper decided to take that family out on the boat alone. Well, that pushed the mad mom over the TOP. She was yelling at the skipper while the boat was taking off. I tried to say it was "extra special magic" and that was the wrong thing to do.
