I'm really happy they didn't drain the entirety of ROA for the Star Wars Land construction.

Me too, err three.
If the ROA were drained we would not go back to the park until they were restored. That is simply my favorite area of the park and we spend most of our time there.

I too was worried how draining the river would affect the atmosphere at the park. When we went in February 2015 the Paradise pier area in DCA was drained and it looked terrible.

They added trees behind the cofferdam to hide the M&F Parking Garage.
