Post COVID Character Stalking

Hi, I was hoping to start a thread where we post where to see certain characters in the parks. My kids, although 8 and 10 now, will not be deterred and characters are the highlight of a trip. For example, at WDW, we just stalked Norway until the queen and her sister came out and I was hoping for similar strategies for DL. My son will be so excited with the Avengers on the west coast.

Because of the rain next week, we added tomorrow (Friday) after we land as a park day, so I can add as I see them.

please add to this list if you can! I know there is info in the app, but it’s really vague.

Specifically, DD will be hoping for Anna and Elsa (near the Hyperion? At what time of day do you think?), any princesses, and the fab 5. Also Alice. And Sadness. Ok, any characters except villains :)

DS likes Spider-Man (stunt show- anywhere else?) Avengers (who is usually in the Avengers campus?) and Star Wars

We do have Plaza breakfast and I have Napa breakfast with DD. But that ice queen can be tricky to track down!

thanks in advance!

Some character appearance times are listed in the app. Spider-Man always does meet and greets after his stunt show, but he also appears at other times of day that may not be listed.
There is usually at least one Avenger out at most times in Avengers Campus, but there will be more nearer the Avengers Assemble! show times.
I saw Anna and Elsa at the fountain outside of Carthay Circle. Other characters in that spot that I noticed were Oswald, Mickey, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto.
In Disneyland, the fab 5 (sometimes plus the chipmunks, Daisy, and/or Clarabelle) are often found at the train station. If not there, at the livery stables, one or two at a time.
There is also a character spot in the Paradise Gardens area. I can’t remember who is there.

I saw Spider-Man hanging out around the overflow queue for Web Slingers, even when it wasn't the stunt show (which I didn't catch).

Rey & Chewie were seen under the Milennium Falcon outside of Smuggler's Run.

Elsa and some other princesses were by the fountain in front of Carthay Circle at DCA, as were Mickey and Minnie in their "going to Hollywood" outfits.

Pirate Redd could be seen at POTC on the left side of the bridge while facing the attraction.

Noticed that Disneyland and DCA seem to have a lot of characters out. Toon town is great for Mickey & Minnie on their porches. Even Marie has been there with Minnie. Goofy and Pluto also in toon town. There will be random characters on the raised walkway near Its a Small World. In DCA, by the rapids will be different bear jamboree characters. There is a spot next to that for Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde interaction.

not to thread jack but what kind of interaction is allowed in these post Covid days and how close are you allowed to be? Following to see if anyone has recent experiences at Plaza on who’s there now- used to be SO many, but I heard it’s less now.

Between 3-10 feet depending on the area. We were shoulder to shoulder for pics on our Santa greeting interaction. It’s nice because in many places its not lines. You each can step up in an open spot, say hello, and grab a few selfies.

In October we saw a ton of characters.

For Princesses- go over to the Fantasy Faire Royal Hall area. In the tent across from the Royal Hall where they used to have shows they had several Princesses under the tent for distanced meet and greets. We didn't go through, as there was a line for that one but I can recall at different times seeing Cinderella, Tiana, Mulan, Aurora, and Snow White. Rapunzel and Flynn were meeting outside the tent in the area with the steps and the little balcony and at different times we also saw Belle and Gaston outside the tent, and Anastasia once. We spent time with all of them. We really loved Anastasia. We also saw Elena on the path near that area, Mickey and Minnie were in town square and also back in Toontown. We saw Daisy and Donald and Goofy in Town Square at different times. Mickey and Minnie Together we saw in that covered spot back by the clothing store (walk past Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln and look pretty much straight ahead) and that is where we saw Daisy too---- but Goofy we saw standing outside of the train station and we saw Mickey with him there at least once.

Marie was on the porch of Minnie's in Toontown sometimes.

The small fenced grassy area near the castle we saw the Pooh characters a lot and Alice and the Chesire Cat once.
Galaxy's Edge there are stormtroopers around to be seen, Kylo Ren comes out on the platform in front of the TIE fighter and so do the storm troopers. They were posing some for distanced pics there when we were there too instead of just doing their little show and leaving. The storm troopers also show up on other higher up raised areas quite a bit.
Keep an eye out for Chewie under the millennium falcon working on it.
Vi Moradi and Rey can also be spotted at times.
We saw Mary Poppins and Bert on that raised area back by Small World. I've heard Alice can sometimes be found there too, but that wasn't where we saw her.
Miguel was by Rancho Del Zocalo
By pirates, characters were sometimes up on the balcony--- we saw Redd, Jack Sparrow and Jack and Sally at different times.

California Adventure.

Carthay Circle around the fountain the characters are on those platforms for distanced meets. There were almost always characters there. Anna and Elsa were there a lot. Sometimes together, sometimes alone. Oswald was there quite bit. The Citizens of Hollywood were there sometimes. Pluto was there. We also saw Daisy, Donald, Clarabelle Cow and Horace, Mickey and Minnie there at different times.

Avengers--- when you go see the Spiderman show look for the yellow box looking thing closer to the end were you enter the land with the graffiti behind it. That is where Spidey meets when he comes down after the show. If you are close to there when you watch the show, you can get near the front of the line.

Where the Avengers do their stunt show on the building they are often up there waving. We saw Black Widow, Black Panther, Shang Chi, Ant Man and the Wasp. There is also a spot on the ground up against that building where Avengers do distanced meet and greets. We saw Iron Man there and Black Panther, Captain America and Ant Man and the Wasp. I remember seeing Captain Marvel there, but I think that might have been during Oogie Boogie Bash- not the regular park hours. The CMs in that area won't tell you who will come out and when. You just have to keep an eye on it.

There is also the Doctor Strange show, the General Okoye and the Dora Malaje, and the Guardians show with Star-Lord and Gamora

The stage back by Monsters Inc. we ran across Mickey doing a distanced meet and greet there one day.

As you walk by Pacific Wharf, keep an eye up towards the balcony--- Keep an eye on little step areas and balcony areas around the park entrance and Carthay restaurant too. Characters sometimes pop out and wave a bit

Mater and Lightning McQueen still alternate meeting at their regular spot in Carsland.

Pixar Pier-- We saw Joy and Sadness and the Incredibles on the platform for distanced meet and greets. We heard you can see Jessie and Woody back there, but we didn't spot them.

We didn't see him, but Miguel had a spot set up specifically for him back by Goofy's Sky School.

In our experience at Avenger's campus they really won't give you any information about which characters are coming out or when. In the Carthay Circle area you might find a character escort CM who can give you information on who is coming out or when Anna or Elsa or both are coming out. We found a CM that was extremely helpful in that area when we asked about a certain character that we knew had been meeting there.

We actually really liked the distanced meet and greets way more than we expected. With the crazy October miserable crowds, ridiculously long ride lines, and no fast pass/max pass, they were the highlight of our trip (outside of Oogie Boogie Bash which was the real trip highlight- but I didn't include any of the characters we saw there). Aside from the Princess tent (where they did have a formed line- maybe to keep from it getting too crowded in the tent), there were no lines. You just go up and snap a pic. The characters are interacting with everyone. You find an empty spot- go up to it- wait for them to acknowledge you if they are posing or talking to someone else and then talk to them and pose for a distanced pic. I'm sure for the little kids it is sad not to get a hug and autograph- but DD is older now and has always been a character fanatic and it was nice not to have to wait in long lines, but to still get to talk to the characters and get pictures. It was fun to watch them interact with everyone too, and DD had some really good interactions with them. Even the characters that don't talk can do some great interacting distanced. Oswald was on fire and had DD dancing with him. He was adorable. The others were great too.

Thank you so much for all of this detail!

This was the case when I was there in August, but this past weekend, they had Mirabel from the new movie Encanto in that spot. Not sure if they are alternating Mirabel and Miguel out in that spot now, or if it's mainly just Mirabel, as I only went by there once.

Also, we saw Chip and Dale in the woods between Soarin and GCH entrance. So cute to see them there with a giant acorn!

This experience was pre-Covid. I have no idea what things are like now. When I was there, it was really hard to get a good picture with Chewbacca in Galaxy's Edge. The characters in Galaxy's Edge did not like to stop and pose for pictures (because they busy with important missions). I was able to get a fantastic picture of Chewbacca in Launch Bay, which is a more traditional character meet and greet.

Anna and Elsa appear in front of Carthay Circle, usually in the afternoon after 3PM. Princesses rotate all day at Fantasy Faire. Fab 5 appear in front of Carthay Circle and at the train station. There's also this little greeting area between the Magic Shop and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln where they appear. Alice most typically appears at the grass area right outside of Tomorrowland. Sadness is probably the most rare on your list and she can appear anywhere in Pixar Pier but most commonly on the stage.

Avengers can be at any number of locations in Avengers Campus and Spider-Man will stay around after the stunt show in that area to do meet and greets. Star Wars characters will be in Galaxy's Edge. Resistance members like Chewbacca will typically be walking around above the garage on the left side of land while Kylo Ren and storm troopers will be near the tie-fighter near the entrance that leads to Fantasyland.

All characters are separated from guests, often by a rope so you can't touch them. For Avengers, Cars, and one area of Fantasy Faire, they typically have a line for you to wait and meet the character while for most other characters, it's usually a free for all where you just walk up and the character will face you if they see you trying to take a picture.

Hi Mstar425,
Is there any chance Ikaris from the Eternals is featured in the Avengers Campus meet and greets? Because he's my favorite and I always wanted to see him as a character. Also when you go and try to meet Star Lord can you tell him that someone named Dodger is a huge fan of his and please send him my love and tell him I long to see him someday. Also see if Hawkeye is there and when you meet him give him my love too
Have a great time at Disneyland Mstar425,
Dodger

The Eternals were out in the theater area where Dr. Strange did his show in the morning end of November according to a friend. I think she mentioned Ikaris. I'll go and check the picture.

Yes, the Eternals characters appear in Dr. Strange’s sanctum until about 2:00 every day.
I believe it’s Kingo, Sersi, and Ikaris.

How is Mirabel? My mom saw a picture of her and according to my mom she looks pretty. Does she wear her glasses too?

I’ve seen several pictures of people meeting the three caballeros. Anyone know when and where? I know it’s DCA and I know they have their show, but this looked like a character meet. Thanks!
