Oh, one fun observation that I had while there. Often we would see a single glove lying around - on a bench, a wall, just anywhere. The lost single gloves of Quebec City we called them. We believe, because it almost happened to some of us, is that people take off a glove to use their phone or take a picture, and then leave it. Be aware and don't become a victim of the lost glove!

Yes indeed! We walked around for many hours yesterday and enjoyed our time at the warming stations.

We actually commented on the number of random gloves we saw! My DH & I agree with you, it must be from taking one off to take a picture. We will make sure to be careful with our gloves! Thanks!

I wasn't sure how far the Hilton was from the old city. I'm happy to hear that it's so close.

We were in QC over 15 years ago and loved it. We stayed at a hotel down the hill from the old town which was lovely but I couldn’t locate it so maybe it changed name or went out of business? For a long weekend you don’t need much of an itinerary as it is a great place just to wander. We were there in the summer and went to fireworks competition/display held at the waterfall. It was awesome.

I wasn't sure how far the Hilton was from the old city. I'm happy to hear that it's so close.

It is in fact very close to one of the gates leading into the Old Town proper and near the Plains of Abraham museum and such. I would have stayed there, but my family really wanted the Frontenac, despite my employee rate! We went skating at the ice rink just outside St. John's Gate and I could see the Hilton from there too.

I actually kind of liked the Low Town, Basse-Ville, more than the High Town. It had kind of a cool vibe down there. Riding the pseudo-funicular device was fun too, but if you need a little work-out, walk back up! My family simply refused to do it, but I did it. It's good for you and you save like a couple bucks too.

Every place we ate was good. In the Low Town we ate at a sports bar called Q de Sac. The kids still talk about the corn risotto.

We stay at the Hotel du Vieux Quebec. If you book on their website you get the picnic basket breakfast. They have an awesome farm-to-table concept restaurant.

I’d love to stay at the Frontenac someday. What a beautiful hotel. I’m sure you will enjoy your trip!

Yeah, we ate at that Irish pub. The funny thing is that all of my family there are from New England/Rhode Island, and I was like, "Really, you want to eat here when thre are literally a million Irish Pubs back home?" Gotta get those fish and chips in, eh? It was pretty good though.

We are loving Chateau Frontenac, but would definitely consider the Hilton.

To be clear, in my room, they were the tiny bottles, not the bulk dispensers - same product though.

Boardwalk outside of Chateau Frontenac. This is the toboggan ride. It is super fun!
This walkway will take you all the way to the Citadelle. Lots of stairs, so beware if anyone in your party can’t do stairs.
We enjoyed the walk!

Yeah, no snow when we were there, so taht toboggan run sat empty.

The Citadel is cool, but we walked a roundabout way to get to it.

Since we're sharing, this was me on the ice rink. I couldn't bring my skates so I had to rent some awful hockey skates. I am normally very good on my blades!

This is just outside of St. John's gate and you can see the Christmas Market booths behind me.

Also, this was out at Montmorency Falls. It was flowing then, but I hear it freezes completely.

We decided to book Chateau Frontenac for our stay. Looking forward to it!

We went to Quebec for Carnival about 7 years ago and had a blast. I hate the cold, but loved Carnival. We stayed at Chateau Frontenac and it was a "bucket list" stay. We adore old hotels with character and Chateau Frontenac fit the bill.

We stayed at the Hilton for the first night. Our daughter loved the outdoor pool on the top of the building and swam in the snow.
