My wife, 1 year old son and I visited for 7 days in September. We made it a point to try some different restaurants than our previous trips. We stayed 5 nights at POFQ and 2 at the Swan. We had the dining plan. With one exception we had the kind of service we have come to expect from Disney. Here are a few thoughts.
Monday- Boatwrights Dining Hall- we split the BBQ shrimp which was amazing. I had the ribs which I liked a lot. My wife had the Prime Rib. She was not a fan. We both liked the bread served before the meal.
Tuesday- POFQ- Beignets. Tried the pumpkin. Good but a lot of food.
Homecomin for dinner. Both had the Fried Chicken. Best I've had. They serve it with loaded mashed potatoes that were outstanding.
Wednesday- Yak N Yeti- my personal favotite. The server tipped us off to an unlisted special. Garlic noodles with shrimp, lobster and scallops. She said that if it is popular it will be put on the menu. Highly recommended.
Thursday- coral Reef- Medium Rare steak came out raw. Mistakes happen. I Sent it back and it came back perfectly cooked. Everyone seemed to like their meals. I thought the steak was good but something I probably could have made at home.
Friday- Cape May Cafe dinner. Average at best. Crab legs were terrible. Meat was overcooked. Soup was average. Really the only meal we didn't like.
Saturday- Mexico for lunch. 4 of us ordered the beef brisket tacos. 2 of us liked them. 1 didn't and 1 thought it was the best he had in a while. I'd call that a mixed review if there any was one.
Ate at the Dolphin Pool that night. Good food but definitely obvious it wasn't "Disney"
Sunday- Cape May Cafe for Breakfast- My son loved the characters. We loved the food. It is breakfast so not hard to screw up but we all agreed breakfast is much better than dinner.
Sunday night was 50's Diner. Great food. My wife and I split the Chicken pot pie and the stuffed pork chop. We liked the pot pie more but the pork chop was still good. Unfortunately our server was bad. Didn't play the part. Didn't refill drinks. Took a good half hour to get our check making us miss illuminations.
Diet started Monday the minute we got home. None of us were used to dessert every meal. All in all great food and service.
