Renting vs. Cash

We are using our points to go to Disney next year, but also want to go to Aulani. I was thinking of renting points, but the savings isn't as big as I imagined. On a $12,000 room, the difference is $800. I am just curious what the differences are. I know if I rent points I don't have to pay to park and I won't get housekeeping every day. Are there other differences? I am wondering if I should just suck it up and pay cash thru Disney to have the flexibility to cancel if something comes up. I am nervous committing to something a year away. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

edit - Actually the savings will be more. I just realized they had one more day figured in the quote than I was looking for. That should make a big difference.

There is a benefit, if it's only$800 difference, to book through Disney in case you do want to cancel. I have rented my points before and canceling a rental is hard on the owner.
