Room Charge??

The last time we were at Disney, we discovered how nice it was to do the "room charge thing". Where we gave the front desk our CC, they swiped it, and we just charged everything to our room. IT was so nice, we did not have to carry cash at all. Do they do that at FW?? We won't be in a cabin, we will be bringing our camper. Just wondering, because I would really like to do that again. Also, if they do do that, how much do they put on Reserve?? Does that make sense? In other words, when you give them your card, and they swipe it to verify it, how much do they put through??? Thanks. Only 58 more days.... :Pinkbounc

FW does the room charge thing, too! We love the system and hope they never change it. On the day you are set to check out they have a folio of everything you have spent tucked under the windshield wipers of your vehicle ...... very convenient.

Forgot to add ...... they will go up to the credit limit of your card. They usually let your room charge rack up about $1,000 at a time before they will put it through on your card, so your folio will show lots of small entries (dinners, gift shops) and then a larger amount every so often. Of course, this may just be for longer stays like ours, so perhaps others just see a one-time charge.

Thanks. I love the idea of not having to carry cash around. We are only there for 6 days, and will be using our Debit/Credit card which doesn't really have a limit per say, so does anyone know how that works.. Thanks.

If you have no limit on your credit card, Disney has no limit on your spending ..... they love guests like that! The room charge is set up to be convenient. We have stayed at FW for as long as 6 weeks before, and the room charge just keeps on going .... they just bill the designated charge card in what appears to be approximately $1,000 chunks or one week (whatever comes first). I am sure that they have some real logical system that they use, but not being a cast member and not knowing their internal system, that is my best guess.

There is a predetermined point at each resort where they run the transaction. $1000 at FW seems logical, since that's what it is at the moderates. Instead of running a transaction each time you make a purchase, they wait until either you reach $1000 or the morning you'll check out, whichever comes first. According to a CM on the Resort Board about a week ago, when you check in, they just run a transaction to get you approved for $1, just to make sure the card is yours and not stolen. When you get your credit card bill, you won't see a transaction for each little purchase. You'll just see a big one from the front desk at FW. (There could be multiple transactions, if you spend more than $1000.)

Some items that you charge at Guest Services aren't put on your keys but are run then and there. Park tickets and e-night tickets fall in this category.
