Ironically I may be going to a bar tomorrow for a gathering to celebrate a former co-worker getting his Masters Degree. He can't attend his Graduation ceremony, can't get the time off work. A disadvantage of online degrees from Universities that are 2,500 miles away.
But no, never been a bar person otherwise. Seems gatherings like the one I am going to organized by people my kids age are the only time I have ever been in a bar.
Same with my wife, which is odd considering one of her stepfathers was a bartender. Actually, that may be why my wife never got into going to bars.

I think I've been to one in the last couple of years. At the end of a day trip to Wildwood, my brother-in-law and sister liked to stop at a place where his nephew was bartending, and being the passenger I had no choice but to go along. My sister doesn't drink at all and me rarely, but I like the occasional Corona and lime so I'd have one or two while she drank soda. I don't like bars too much-the smell of stale alcohol that clings to everything is nauseating to me.

The only bars I go to are attached to restaurants. When I was younger it was more dance clubs than bars.

If a casino lounge counts, then it was earlier this summer. They had an oval bar, some high top tables, and some sofas and lounge chairs. Just alcohol, I don’t think food was available.

A band was playing 80s soft rock and pop.

I don’t think I’ve been in a “bar” bar in over 25 years. And Cheers was too klassy for me. We used to go to the skanky dives.

I always wanted to go to a bar that had a Ladies’s Entrance. Way back when, women weren’t supposed to sit at bars, even if accompanied by men.

They were expected to use a side entrance and sit in a room with table service.

This was the norm in my area when I was a young girl. By the time I was old enough, separate Ladies Entrances had pretty much disappeared.

We go to a piano bar once a month to see our favorite piano players. It's a huge place set up with tables like a restaurant almost but it feels like a bar with live music.

I voted yes & other because we live in a rural area, we don't really go out to bars because there is no Uber or ridesharing around here. Unless we have a DD, we stay home and have a drink! With that being said, when we go out of town and are in areas where we can walk back or there are Uber's to use we enjoy going for a drink or two. We don't close the place down or anything along those lines, I'm talking about a cocktail or two prior to going to dinner, where we may have a glass of wine- we are in-bed by 9 types!!!! For instance, next Monday we are off to a resort on Lake Tahoe for the week for work, so while there we will take advantage of being "able to go out for a drink" and being able to walk back to our room afterwards.
Our family suffered a death due to a drunk driver many years ago, when I was a teenager, and for that reason I won't drink and drive even if I've had just a half glass of wine.

Dh and I will go to a bar on occasion. Our last big bar hopping was in December. Dd had a party to attend across the city that was too far to drive home, so we decided to hit a few local breweries over the 4 hours to kill time. It was fun! 🍻

I really can’t recall the last time I was in a bar that was not attached to a restaurant or a hotel. I’m sure I have been, but it’s been a while.

I'm going to a bar for dinner tonight and I was last at a bar two weeks ago. We were with a group of people and had fun playing darts in the back. We were there until nearly 2:00 am! It's been a long time since we were out that late!

I used to go to "The Men's Bar" at the Berghoff in Chicago. Even in the 1980's there were few women there. I would meet friends at the bar and then go into the dining room for dinner.

I haven't been to a bar in a very long time. I used to go out every weekend when in my 20's. I do however occasionally make a cocktail and sit in my yard and enjoy it while watching my garden and the birds. :D

This. In my younger years, I would go “clubbing” with friends and co-workers, and with DH when we were dating. They were nightclubs/discos with live bands or DJ’s and we would dance, and drink a bit, but rarely sat at the bar. From late high school (drinking age was 18 back then), through my college years and beyond, almost every weekend.

Nowadays I rarely go to a bar anymore, though DH will go once in awhile with “the guys” to a sports bar to watch a game. There are a few local Irish pubs we like to go to for dinner, though they’re restaurants as well (Have never seen children there, not sure if they’re allowed.)

It's been a while. I have gone to bars within restaurants, but can't remember when I last went to just a bar, maybe some WDW places like Belle Vue lounge (is that still at the BW?) or Trader Sams but that was 5 yrs ago at least.

Do we count the bar in the adult pool area on Disney Cruise ships? If so, I was there in the spring.

Other than that, I don't think I've been to a bar that doesn't have an associated restaurant / doesn't allow under 21 since college days or shortly thereafter, many years ago. A couple times on recent vacation DH and I stopped somewhere and just got a drink, but it was a restaurant with a bar, not just a bar.
You just reminded me we did often go to the lounge on our river cruise in April. Guess that counts as a bar?

We just drink at home. Its safer and the pours are honest. We do make an exception for Trader Sams Grog Grotto...that is a can't miss bar experience for us. Strong pours, unmatched ambience and great bartenders.

Crazy, huh? We’ve come a long way…
No separate entrance, but the oldest bar in New York City is a place called McSorley’s. It opened in the 1850’s and didn’t allow women until 1970, when a discrimination lawsuit forced them. Didn’t have a ladies room until 1986. I went there only a couple of times, many years ago. It’s still really rustic with sawdust on the floor.

My husband and I will sit at "the bar" when we go out to eat sometimes. It's usually a reastaurant/ bar/grill like Texas Roadhouse. There is one bar in town that we might stop in early evening once or twice a year.
btw, I spent 5-6 nts a week in the bars when I was younger. They held an appeal then, not so much anymore, LOL!

Be good or be gone! I was there in the early 80's, went to the restroom somehow.
