Something About Nothing............ #14

God loves a trier doesn`t he!! :rotfl:

My husband is making me lunch right now, I think I`ll like it!! One of his famous copies of the club sandwich with added meat and jalapenos, spicy mustard mayo too. We`ll split it as it is rather large, but very tasty.

Still cold, but at least the sun is shining, and we can start to see buds on the pear trees and the cherry blossom trees are starting to flower, seems early since it`s so cold, but those lovely pink flowers are coming out and are lovely to see.

Just chatted to my friends daughter Freya who is a part time life guard in her spare time, she`s giving it up as she is just too busy with University and living life to the full. Quite right too, social life is just as important. Hope to see her soon when she visits her parents.

Lunch is being served up....looks nice!!

Hope everyone is enjoying a big cup of your favorite hot beverage this morning.

Yes, they loved the stuff I took in, I was in the office yesterday and everyone told me how much they loved it all, very much appreciated. And it`s something I enjoy anyway.
I imagine that a lot of the young ones don‘t do much if any baking so getting homemade treats from you are extra special.

It`s lovely to hear her so enthusiastic about her new home, everyone loves it too. Hope your dad is doing ok too.
I’am so glad to hear she is enjoying her new place.

Dad is 87 now. He has been in and out of the hospital 3 times in the past month. He still has my half sister living with him and he is receiving home PT. Hopefully this will help him and he can get out and about again.

Marathon training is intense I have learned!!! This weekend I think he`s doing another 20 miles, apparently if you can do 20 miles easily, the extra for the marathon shouldn`t be a problem!!! I`ll take their word for it! Couch potatoes of the world unite!
He has really come a long way since he started running. Doing 20 mile runs are something to be proud of.

Happy Friday! I had a nice sleep in this morning but now it’s time to get up and do stuff. B and I are going to take a drive to the main branch of our county library. She has a job interview there next week and wants to know where it is before she goes out there for the first time. It’s about a 20 minute drive from where we live.
I have no plans for the weekend, but I’m sure I can find something around the house that needs attention.
Hope B gets the job.

Happiest of Fridays to all. About to get a deluge as the southern edge of the front hits tonight here.
Doing a 2 day trip Tuesday and Wednesday with DW. Staying @ Cabana Bay. Always stayed offsite or RP depending on which pass and what season it was. Probably nosh on Mardi gras food one day and Mythos the other.
We got the deluge of rain on Saturday and some on Sunday.

butterscotch krimpets,
Never heard of those I will have to look those up.

This was the last batch we kept. To the sausage meat I added diced leeks cooked in butter, a shed load of black pepper, onion and garlic seasonings and of course home made pastry which turned out perfect! And unlike store bought sausage rolls, they have plenty of meat in them.
Those sausage rolls look delicious.

I talked the mr into just adding a day (anniversary present) onto beginning of April trip vs an extra weekend trip. Air fare was choking me for March
Always nice to extend your vacation.

Thinking about taking a quick trip up to Scotland to see my mum, look forward to seeing her new place too.
I’am sure your mom will be thrilled to see you and show you her new place.

I had gift vouchers from Christmas from other friends, and I know she loves a good spa visit so managed to get a last minute booking and we had a couple of hours of being PAMPERED!!!! Isn`t it the best!!!
It is always nice to have a Foo Foo day at the Spa.

I finished my last state cross stitch. Now I need to get them all framed, but I have no idea where to hang them. My house does not have a lot of useable wall space.
Nice cross stitching.

Good morning. I hope everyone is having a better morning than I am. I woke up around 5:30 with an upset stomach. I feel a little better now, but still iffy about going to work.
Sending get well prayers your way.

I need to get cracking on making the halupki. My mouth watering just thinking about it. The mr, he who wasn’t raised eating it and doesn’t know what delicacy he’s missing, will get a burger tossed at him
My mom used to Make stuffed cabbage many many moons ago. She made it rarely and sadly the recipe died with her. Yours looks and sounds good.

yes, I’m somewhat giddy, smell has been driving us nuts all day. The mr in a not so good way as he hates the smell of cabbage cooking lol
Wonder if it is a man thing. My hubby does not like the smell of cabbage cooking either so I rarely make it.

Came home and made the cherry coconut treats, they are lush, very rich and sweet with the condensed milk.
Those look good.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with WDW addresses, it Appears I visit epcot frequently enough that it thot That was my work address :p
LOL……not a bad address to have.

Sun shining this morning. Supposed to be 72.

Hubby is watching his stock program and granddaughter is on her work laptop.

Granddaughter flew in late Sunday night for a week visit. We have had some sunny restful days at the pool.

She had not been to KSC since she was a little girl. So we went up there yesterday. I thought since it was the middle of the week it would be light. NOOOOOOOO

It was busier then I have ever seen it during the week. One of the employees said there were 6 thousand people there. The parking lot looked like it for sure.

We had a nice time and she was so surprised at all the changes to KSC. All of them good of course. She really liked the Atlantis exhibition.

We took a leisurely drive back along A1A after the park closed. Granddaughter wanted seafood for dinner so I took her to a really good seafood restraurant in Melbourne for dinner. She really enjoyed her meal.

After she is done with her work we are going to head to the pool for a swim and some sunbathing time.

I’am so glad she was able to get some time to come and visit. My heart is full having my sweet granddaughter here.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

Robo, TastyKake was started in my city and is a NE baking company. Was bought out by the Mexican Bimbo baking company, but they still use the Tasty Baking Company’s city plants and recipes. I think their distribution is west as far as Ohio, and from Maine to Florida. I don’t think they ever strayed any more west than into Ohio. Fan of their butterscotch ones, and their peanut butter ones. This time of year, they sell coconut ones, with dark chocolate, that I particularly like. Why they use Kake instead of the spelling of cake, no one knows. I only buy them once in a while, as like everything else, had gotten pricey, though when a sale on them, is usually when I buy them. My whole family eats them fast. Hehe, today, I had their powdered mini donuts with my tea. So nice to have your granddaughter visit. Enjoy your pool time later today.

Meeting in morning and meeting in afternoon. Sigh. But yay for me. Got my leave approved, so all is right for our trip coming up. Well not the rental car, still higher priced for me, but did get a nice reduction from the almost crazy starting price I first saw. Will keep checking until the day before we leave. But will be a busy time, as many hotels are sold out. Though have to say, was kinda late thinking about this Spring trip. But finally decided, why not? And so, staying at two hotels we haven’t stayed at yet. Hoping both will be nice. At least flight was discounted with the savings we got in our December trip. And yay, already booked our September hotel, and flights, that are much cheaper than this coming trip. Good prices, so glad I got that locked in earlier. And we have stayed in that hotel before. Though crazy price seen for September rental car time. I hoping it goes as low or even lower than last year’s rate that I got about a week out, which also had started with a crazy high price.

So sunny out, and Robo has warmer weather than me. 38 degrees out here. And a cold front to come for the weekend. Will be so happy to be in warmer weather. Even if feeling colder to those there.

Tut tut......you need a decent breakfast young man!!!!

I`m someone who doesn`t understand a protein bar as real food....but, hey you look very healthy so it must work!!!

Hey Robbie....

Sounds like a lovely visit with your granddaughter, it`s lovely when we get family to visit. I might pick your brains on good seafood restaurants in that area in general, we might have a wander there ourselves next time. And yes she would have seen huge changes since she was last at KSC!!

Sending all good wishes to your dad, yes, I hope the PT works for him and get back out more, they are still so independent at such a fabulous age! I hope I have half their zest for life then. I called my mum twice today, she`s out.....lol.....but she loves the new place, trying to work out when we can go up, seems the week we planned to go up for a few days, she`s decided to go on a four day trip with one of her friends......can`t keep a good woman down!

Thank you, the baking does go down well. There are only another 3 around Kyle`s age and one of them does bake a lot, she just doesn`t bring it in to work.....she should though! The rest of them are all older, a couple around my age and younger, but yes, it`s lovely they are so appreciative and I enjoy doing it for them, they really are the nicest group of people in his office. It`s a relatively small group of around 13, and they all get along so well which is as it should be at work, and they all socialise too on occasion.

Yes, we are very proud of how he has come on in just over two years from not running at all. Being back in the office was the best thing that happened to most folks and it was through one of his friends at work he started running, we`re forever grateful to her. He certainly hated working from home as did most of his friends, the workplace is usually very social and so important when you are very socially minded and for that generation more so after lockdown.

Foo foo at the spa, I like that one!!! Over here some use that as a description for something unmentionable, similar to the words the Tag fairy gave me under my avatar......lol.....but I can say it on here!!!

Have a great day Robbie and enjoy that time with your lovely granddaughter!

Yep, had a wander down to the fruit trees and the pear trees are definitely budding....is that even a gardening word??? But they are. Hope to get a good yield this year especially from the plums.

Just finished a pot of tea with Tom, didn`t have any goodies, looking forward to dinner tonight, then try and catch my mother in for a chat!!! She`s like a rebellious teenager refusing to tell us all where she`s going.....lol.....love it really!!

Slow day today. One of our therapists is out today.
Just before lunch I heard sirens nearby. When I went out for lunch I saw a fire truck and ambulance at the senior living center across the street from my office. That’s never good to see.

Hope you feel better soon!

Sending Mummy dust that your daughter does get that job.
Have my fingers crossed for her.
Thanks Mac!

Murder she Wrote is always comforting when laying along a sofa when poorly!! Or anytime really, amazing woman and love that show, well, most of them. Hope you feel ,uch better today and can get back to normal again.
Thank you. I think I fell asleep almost as soon as I turned it on. I seem to remember Jessica trying to avoid a process server.

Did they give her a time frame that she would hear whether she was successful or not?
They didn’t and she forgot to ask.

Charade, I hope you are feeling better today. On my local news, they said a stomach virus like that rotovirus one, is rampant in the NE corridor,
Thanks Lynne. I think it was something I ate that disagreed with me.

DH said couldn’t you retire now?
Last week one of our clients came in and she was the happiest I have ever seen her. She told me that she was going to take early retirement when she turns 62 in December.

Hope B gets the job.

Nice cross stitching.

Sending get well prayers your way.
Thank you for all 3.
She had not been to KSC since she was a little girl. So we went up there yesterday. I thought since it was the middle of the week it would be light. NOOOOOOOO
I haven’t been there since B was 2 years old. I went up there for a photography project. We should go back sometime.

TastyKake was started in my city
We used to be able to get them at Jersey Mike’s but they stopped selling them.

And yay, already booked our September hotel, and flights
I will miss seeing you this year since we are planning a November trip.

I’m going to finish lunch and go back to today’s project. We are cleaning out old files from insurance companies and EAPs (employee assistance programs). Many of these companies have merged with others or gone out of business. I have found contracts that date back to 2004.

Can’t you shred toss documents that over 7 years old, Charade? Nice to clear out outdated files in your office. In my office, anything you put in a file cabinet, you put a stickie on with the date of when it can be removed for disposal. Every so often we go through the file cabinets to remove those files that have dates that show should be disposed of now.

DH went to bed. I turned the alarm off, but I’m sure both he and I will be the first ones up. Now watching whatever I think I haven’t seen already. Will be up a little later, as not having to be up early.

Enjoyed my hair appointment. Already made next time’s appointment. My stylist was going on vacation tomorrow. I hope she has a great time. We both were saying can’t believe last day of March is Easter Sunday, and that next Friday is already the first of March.

3:30 in the morning and I am awake. Why? Because I have a cat. He woke me at 3:00. Je wants food, but I can’t feed him until 7:00. He has an appointment for a nail trim at 9:20 this morning and I must give him gabapentin so he will be calmer at the vet’s office. I am hoping that he will be hungry enough to eat the gabapentin laced food. This is going to be a very long morning.

Oh Charade, what a way to start today. Hope Caspian is at the vet and already almost done his nails. Nap time for both of you, today, probably.

And so, DH got up at our alarm time and said aren’t you moving? Um no. Few minutes ago, older one asked where I was as entered our bedroom. Um, still in bed. Hehe. I was awake mostly, but did go back to sleep at times until about 15 minutes ago. Time to enjoy a long hot shower.

So like this lazy day Friday. When I don’t have to have any agenda. Though DH said he was hungry, will have to see if he made anything. Otherwise, I’ll make some eggs and toast for any who want, when I’m done my morning get ready routine.

Hear traffic, and otherwise quiet, with a 41 degree overcast sky outside. Time for me to get moving.

And my hope that all have a most Fabulous Friday today, and then have the most Wonderful Weekend, the last one in February, the two days after today.

Hey all, busy day, middle DS was illin again, needed quick visit to ER. Seems on the mend now, phew.

Attempting battering some fish filets. has never gone well for me. I’m resolute, eventually I’ll get it right. Have all of lent to work on it :)

That sounds a lot tastier than the protein bar I just had for breakfast!!
I’ve tried them, only because I buy for the ‘lil over the summer & I’m eating the leftovers before they expire. Can’t bring myself to toss as so $ Majority make me think chewing on cardboard might be tastier. The Laura bars seem to be a bit better than most
I’am so glad she was able to get some time to come and visit. My heart is full having my sweet granddaughter here.
You are blessed with such a lovely family!
TastyKake was started in my city and is a NE baking company. Was bought out by the Mexican Bimbo baking company,
Yes, haven’t seen tastykake in the stores for ages.

Had to lol at the name the first time I saw a loaf in an orlando walmart. know the pronunciation is different, Can’t help thinking of a bread for bimbos.

Keisha, when they first sponsored our soccer team, big Bimbo ad on front of their jerseys. More than a few snickers about that name, so vivid on their jerseys, ensued. See:
IMG_3145.jpeg

Thank goodness the current jerseys still have it on it, but not as big. Guess only in my city would have a sports team use that ad logo. Weird not seeing those tastykakes around you. They are in about every food selling store around me. Funny, guy that started it, was the son of a Pitt baker. Was said, son was told by his father, not to compete with him, so son went as far East as he could in our state, and ended up in my city. Sold it to that other bakery in 2011, for 34 million. Made it into a well know named food item in my area. Ack to your one son having to visit the ER. Glad to hear he is on the mend. Sending mummy dust get well wishes his way. Um, no fish fan is me, so you’ll never see me breading fish. Though we ordered from our only good bbq place last night, and older one enjoyed a breaded and fried catfish. Little one and I split the pulled chicken. She’s not a fish fan either. DH happily was the clean up guy. He had a little of all we ordered, so nothing ever leftover from that place.

Oh my, little one and I went out, glad my kids pump gas in my car for me. Then we had lunch at ShakeShack. Quick Target run, and back home we were, though a stop for iced coffee last. As we ordered our coffee, we asked DH if he wanted any. Nope. Then a few minutes ago, hours after we go back, he wanted little one to go out to get coffee for him. She wasn’t happy, but just came back. At least he’s not picky where he gets coffee, and I had a dollar coupon for any size hot coffee at Wawa, so that’s where his coffee is from. Now deciding what for dinner. We don’t follow that no meat Friday during Lent. Hmm, maybe a pizza night?

We got unexpected snow last night :crazy2:

Bimbos everywhere lol Lynne interesting story re the bakery owner

Kiddo hanging, did go into work last night. Just quite uncomfy. Appears he has an Inguinal hernia. I know squat about them. Told Good chance it will settle down on its own. In the meantime, he gets to pull up a chair and wait it out.

Thinking of baking something today as likely ordering take out for dinner

Not too shabby results last night. Next time will
Go just a bit heavier on flour in batter & bit more baking powder

Back on Thursday. Tried Cabana Bay and really wasn't as happy as at RP. Staff was good but the building seems as run down as the Disney budget hotels albeit quieter.
Got in 10 rides Tuesday and sightseeing and shopping on Wednesday. It was quite busy for midweek as it was a holiday Monday.
Mardi-gras fare was great and Mythos never fails.
Baking now. Quattro leches done. Chocolate chip cookie cheesecake bars baking.
Happy Saturday to all.

Happy Saturday everyone. Last night I got almost 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. That has not happened in a very long time.
Caspian was a bit of a pain at the vet yesterday, but did allow them to trim his nails. I’m thinking I should send some sort of goodie basket to the vet techs just as a thank you for having to deal with Caspian for the past 10 years.

That’s a great way to spend a Friday morning.

Kiddo hanging, did go into work last night. Just quite uncomfy. Appears he has an Inguinal hernia.
I had to look that up. I hope he is able to get relief soon.

Tried Cabana Bay and really wasn't as happy as at RP. Staff was good but the building seems as run down as the Disney budget hotels albeit quieter.
We have only stayed at Disney budget resorts, so I think we will be happy at. Cabana Bay. Dh wants to try Hard Rock, but can’t justify the expense.

We have had morning of adulting. We bought a new toilet for the main bathroom. It is scheduled to be installed in Thursday. Kinda sad when you get excited about something like that.

Quattro leches
(Four milks?) No idea what that is, sounds sweet. Dulce de leche makes my teeth hurt, even the cake. I’ve watched people happily eat it with a spoon. Talk about a sugar rush lol

You did well. With no FOTL. How was Mardi grad? Concert?

In Disney speak, yes, CB is decidedly a value resort sort.

For bonus trips or adding on an extra day, we often stay at WDW values (music or pop). It pains me to say it :rolleyes1CB offers far more amenities, just not our preferred theming.

It is a real bang for the buck there for a short trip. I appreciate they offer a value resort within walking distance of the parks I’d surely take any of the deluxe resorts, especially with the FOTL perk, over CB too.

Still, we rarely want to pay 3 or 4 X more for a quickie trip, when it’s mostly a park centric visit. we don’t need that FOTL advantage every trip. Especially during haunt season since we flop at pool all day & only do HHN those dates

I really like SF. do wish They would add the perk there, even if it meant increasing their rates accordingly

Cannot wait to see :crazy2: to what point the resort rates raise once it’s epic time.

Good eating at the Keisha household. Yeah, was interesting a Pitt guy making it big here.

Eh, the only one night we stayed at CB it was okay, but hope you had a blast with the parks, Junkie.

Was at our biggest of our malls, and had Chicken Guy order for lunch. Opened a few weeks ago. Mall is crowded, so we left and now so was Costco, almost too crowded. But of course, now picking up iced coffees. Then the highway home.

Yay for being a Saturday!

When the malls in my area pulled back due to the virus, have not been in a mall yet.

Have realized, I don’t miss shopping for clothes or shoes.
I make due with what clothes I have at home

and I realize now, I have clothes that hang in my closet and half of them just do not care for them anymore.

I need to check hotel rooms soon since I do want to take a short trip before summer hits
I am thinking May will be good time to go.
Just a short and sweet trip will work out fine for me.

Going solo works for me to get before crowds start to rise.

All past trips were 8 -9 days at the park.

This year looking for spring for a quick trip.
Haven’t booked yet and need to set something up.

Ooh I hope you do Mac. We did a quick week over Mother’s Day weekend last year, and it was perfect weather. Quick trips are the best. Hehe, including ours, coming sooner than later. We went to the mall mostly to window shop, and get walking exercise in. Haven’t bought clothes in some time. Was a blast of a Northern cold front yesterday, and we had wind chills in making it feel like low 30’s. We definitely were not the only ones there. Oh and our Fall, longer trip, is already locked and loaded. I know better than to wait to get that time of year booked. And I definitely should have not waited so long for this time, but I was on the fence too long, before deciding, yes definitely it was a go. But any time to enjoy some away fun, is a good time to do so.

Ah a Sunday is here, alarm set, and trash to the curb will be us, and many of my neighbors, doing that in the early evening. Thankful no Monday commuting, and hoping for more teleworking days sooner than later. Though will be every day, lazy day, in a six and a half years ahead from now. But glad later in my career, teleworking has become standard work days.

And so, most plans on my Sundays are relaxing with my DH until older one comes to say, he’s up and getting ready for his working today. Then trying to get little one up, to visit my sister for some afternoon family time. Thinking that’s our plan this Sunday. And a beautiful sunny day we have. Though the 24 degrees out right now, is not as balmy warm as I hoped. Hehe, love warm weather. But hey, in 2 more Sundays, time change to keeping time an hour later. That Sunday will certainly see me being relaxing in the early morning, almost being shocked I awoke at 7 and not 6 am.

So a good morning to all, and a wish for a most Serenely blessed Sunday today, for all.
