Summer fun. Hopefully

So I think we are all hoping that we can have some fun this summer. I know last year we had a thread about stuff to do here since we can’t go to WDW.

I just noticed on the Ontario re-opening plan, if we hit 70% one dose and 20% second dose outdoor amusement parks can open. So things like Wonderland may be possible this year.

What else are people hoping to be able to do?

We are hoping for some weekend trips around Ontario. But I think for those to be enjoyable we'd need to have indoor dining options open, I don't want to eat every meal in our car/hotel room if the weather isn't cooperating enough for outdoor dining.

I’m hoping to camp but haven’t booked anything . Everything is really full but I have a feeling some spots might open up as we get closer and people cancel .
The Drive In !!!!! There are actually some movies coming this summer that I wouldn’t mind seeing. We love our local drive in !

Both my parents and in-laws have a pool so once outdoor small gatherings are allowed again we are really looking forward to swimming and bbqs !

I think we will be hanging out at home, but we have a pool so hopefully we can have friends over and hang out with drinks and bbq!

My son and daughter in-law have booked this for the last week of summer and are hoping to go,,, me I am hanging around the city.
They are hoping to have their second vaccine shot by then.

St Jacobs here I come!!!

My backyard tends to be my peace and quiet sanctuary. So tell everyone to stay off the trails beside my home!!!LOL.

hoping for some road trips this summer!

we paid a deposit on a puppy, and depending on the upcoming litters, we could do a road trip to pick ours up late summer.

my mom lives a few hours away. i would love to spend some time with her, and use her place as a base to do day trips in the area.

we also have a family cabin. we didn’t visit last summer (possible unnecessary strain on rural health care), and it would be nice to have some beach days this year.

still patiently waiting for vaccines to open up for young kids. i don’t think we will plan any hotel stays, etc. until the whole fam is vaccinated.

We have 5 nights at KOA Cavendish for camping with the folks and my sister's family is seasonal there. We also have a big intex pool that we set up for the summer. If I am still working in the office part time, that will be two awesome summers in a row utilizing the pool :)

The African Lion Safari - omg, I went there once when I was four with family. My uncle had us all in his car. He sprinkled popcorn all over the car and we had animals upon animals all over the car LOL

i have to share we went to the zoo last summer and had a hotel stay. I went in first and I cleaned it harder than any housekeeper ever had. Texted the kids it was safe to come up and we’ll I had used so much Lysol my daughter had an asthma attack.. I felt so bad but how ironic ...
anyways we had a good stay we stayed in hotel room ordered our fav TO foods using Uber eats ( including Krissy Kreme for dessert ) and had a great day at the zoo the next day

We have 3 nights booked at KOA midweek end of June we are looking forward too. Exec cabin and private hot tub so even if pool is busy.
Kids are looking forward to some outdoor sports.. that said daughter threw huge fit bc her brother can golf this weekend and soccer training in groups of ten aren’t till mid June and games aren’t until July ..
I think we will skip wonderland this year usually we do it it midweek in June to avoid crowds .. maybe they will do a capacity thing like Disney ? And I’d consider .. it was just always so busy and well not overly clean to begin with. It makes me nervous ..

We rented a trailer at a resort for mid July to end of Aug. I can work out there a lot and it's an hour drive so everyone will go back and forth between work and we'll use some holiday time there. It has a guest bunkhouse, so I'm hoping the kids will be allowed friends to visit there or we can bring the grand kids. Other than that, just looking forward to hanging out with friends in our back yards, doing outdoor stuff like kayaking, hiking, fishing, etc.

I love St. Jacobs and the farmers market in Kitchener. I was talking with DH the other day and said if things open up maybe a trip to the zoo in Toronto (I love a zoo) and then pop over to St Jacobs. Likely do this in September/October when things are cooler and the crowds are lower.

I've given up now on the possiblity of a quick trip across the border. That will have to wait till next spring, southern Maine here I come!

The hot part of this summer will be spent in the oasis of my backyard and my kiddie pool for cooling off.

I have 14 cruises booked through RCL from Aug-May. They were all comps through their Casino program and even if they all sail I know we will not be taking them all, but we still booked them all because who knows when sailing will start and where from. I just need to go on a vacation. Hopefully the border does really open 6/22 if the vaccine #s support it!

haha so ironic for sure!

i think hotels are pretty safe, especially after a good mom clean. i think it’s just my own comfort threshold. i don’t quite feel ready for one! but your trip sounds like exactly the kind of getaway i’m dreaming of.

I fully support lockdown measures but we are chomping at the bit to go to our friend's cottage in Muskoka. She rents it out to us for super low rates and is actually out of the country (an expat) so we spent 10-12 days every month there last year lol. We'd spend 5-7 days, come home, then head back up again a week later. Can't wait to do that again this year. May was a bust so hoping for June. Right now planning on end of June.

Hope we can invite various friends and family to join us at the cottage (one family at a time of course) like we did last year.

My DS is interviewing for a job at a summer camp near the cottage that he's super excited about. So here's hoping overnight camp is a go.

Then I have vague dreams of Disney in Dec/Jan. I got refunded for our APs last year but still have a pair of AP vouchers burning a hole in my pocket lol.

I have an Airbnb booked for Tobermory right after Canada day so we should be ok to go but it's likely that we won't be able to see Flowerpot Island.

Wonderland when they do open will have limited capacity and will require reservations. I will most likely be going as I have a platinum pass. I have always found it to be pretty clean.
