1) Where do I take the shirt?

2) Do I need to bring a pen? What kind of pen?

Jess

1. On the ship........

2. Yes. One that writes........

Okay all joking aside  , and someone correct me if I'm wrong, I believe you take it to customer service, so

1. Put the t-shirt (plain or disney related) and a "sharpie" pen - these are waterproof, indelible ink markers - in a ziploc bag,

2. Write your name and room number on the bag, deliver it to customer service, and

3. Pick it up a couple of days later.

You can also do this with pillowcases.

Hope it helps,
Dragon Lady

We were on the Western in March, and Guest Services wouldn't take the pillowcases until at least Thursday. They said they wanted you to try to get as many as possible of your own autographs from the characters first. On Thursday they did accept them but somewhat grudgingly. None the less, they are really cute and a great remebrance for the kids!

We were on the Magic last week (4/5-12) and Guest Services will not take the t-shirt or pillowcase until Thursday. Guest Services told us we should try to get as many signatures as we could prior to that. They let us know there was no guarantee that the shirt would get signed, which is understandable. I had my DD's shirt in a ziplock, marked w/her name & stateroom #, and 3 Sharpies (black, red, green). I took it everywhere with us and had only gotten Goofy's autograph by Wed. During a picture session Wed evening, one of the cast members escorting Minnie saw me carrying the ziplock and offered to take it and get the signatures! We were able to pick it up later that night at Guest Services!! They really did a nice job and it's a beautiful keepsake. So make sure you carry it EVERYWHERE, especially to the character greetings. There are so many wonderful CMs, you may not even have to ask! :)

This seems like it is a new decree from Disney. Actually, this service was never even promoted by Disney but seemed to spread only by word of mouth, and mostly by DIS'ers!!!! I guess they are being overrun with requests so they are limiting when you can give them to Guest Service. I had a feeling something like this would happen, or that Disney would start charging for the service.

MJ,

Initially I was told this was available only to Disney employees (a company perk?!). When I voiced my doubt, that's when "Thursday" was mentioned! I think the safest thing to do is keep it a secret from the kids. Let it be a surprise (and not a big disappointment if it doesn't get done). Good luck everyone!

On my first cruise March 8th (the Magic), I dropped the t-shirt off on Sunday. Picked it up on Wednesday, and because I kept forgetting the autograph book for my sister when I was on deck with the charactors, I traded the shirt for the autograph book. I don't think there were that many people doing it.

We were on the 4 day Wonder, March 16. I took the pillow cases (that I learned about on this board) to Guest Relations. A few days later, I was able to pick them up. They were all signed and they had done a beautiful job. I only put black sharpies in with the pillowcases, but they were signed in all different colors by the characters. My daughter and daughter-in-law are having them framed for my grandchildren instead of letting them use them. They turned out wonderful. (Thank you for the idea. I would never have thought of it!)

I think them saying it is only for Disney employees is a bunch of hooey!!! I have sailed DCL 7 times already and never heard that one before!!!

We went on the Magic back in Feb. I bought a t-shirt on board and then dropped it off. I explained that since my son was only 14 months, he did not have the patience to stand in line, but we would love to have the memory. They were very willing to take our shirt. I didn't have to give them a pen, they said they have plenty. I can see how this can get out of hand. My son's shirt is TERRIFIC!! I do believe, that if your children are old enough, it would be more fun for them to have the characters sign them in person. The characters make such frequent appearences(which suprised me) that one should have no problem getting all of them to sign it. If my son were older, he would have been getting the shirt done himself.

Hi!
We are going on the same cruise Thursday the 17th. I :bounce: :bounce: I made my daughter and 3 nieces embroidered pillowcases with their names and the date of the Disney cruise for the characters to sign. 2 of the pillow cases are white and 2 are disney/cinderella/snow white I bought a Wal-Mart. I intend to drop theses off at guest services the first day for the the characters to sign. I have heard mixed messages on the board as to whether or not they will do this. Hopefully with some friendly persuasion and a litlle magic they will sign them for these kids! P.S. Are you going to the sail away party? Have a great time!!!!!!!

I tried to get 2 shirts signed for my children on the 3/29 Western and I was told by Guest Services that they don't do this. I thought of trying back another time when someone else was at the desk, but never did. The kids didn't know I was going to try to do this so they were just as happy with their "unsigned" Disney shirt.
