My husband and I are having tea at the GF one afternoon. We've never been and was wondering how the "tea food" was. and if there is any particular tea, dessert, ect, that shouldn't be missed.
thanks:wave2:

We just returned from a wonderful stay at GF. On our non-park day, we stumbled across the tea when we noticed some people waiting on line to enter. Without PSs, we were still escorted right in. My daughter had "the Buckingham Palace" (tea sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, some pastries and strawberries and cream ) and I had a lovely dish of fresh strawberries with whipped cream. We both, of course, had tea. We sat for almost an hour enjoying the music from the orchestra and the view from the large window. Our verdict? Both DD and I agree...NOT TO BE MISSED!!!

I've been debating about trying the GF afternoon tea when I get to WDW on Sunday and this thread is pushing me to do it! I can't remember (or find on Deb's site) whether they take PS's or not, though, and don't want to waste a long-distance call to find out they don't. Should I just take a chance and show up?

The scones are to die for, they are really great! I had the fresh strawberries with cream too and they were hugh and very sweet!
I went in September during my solo trip and really enjoyed it. My mother and I will definately during our trip in June.
You can make a PS, I had made one for 3:00 but I decided to go over at 2:00 to see if I could get in earlier, and I had no problem. There was plenty of empty tables. Now this was the end of September and during the week. If you are planning on going during a busy period and/or a weekend I would make a PS.

Loved the strawberries with with whip cream are soooo good!
you'll have a blast. Enjoy!

Me, my mom, my Dd11 and DD8 went to the tea last June. We had such a great time. The kids each got the Mrs. Potts tea. My mom and I just did some ala carte, because neither of us were too into the tea sandwiches. I got a bowl of strawberries and cream. My mom got the scones and jam. Plus we got 2 chocolate cream filled swan pastries. They were all DELICIOUS! I had the darjeeling and mom had some black tea (don't remember which kind).

I've never done this before but here is a link to my pictures on Snapfish. I hope it works. There are also a few pictures from the Peabody hotel and Emeril's Tchoup Chop. I didn't know how to exclude those and only show the Tea pictures.

The hours seem to vary slightly, but when we were there last Dec. it was from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. For the Buckingham Palace another poster described the cost is $17.50(this includes the food and tea), but you can order things a la carte also.

We had the Earl Grey and Cinnamon Spice teas, both were very good. We loved the scones and Devonshire cream - MMMMM!! And, the strawberries and cream were also delicious. During our visit, our waitress did not give terribly good service (forgot some of our order, left another part of it sitting in the back for about 45 min.) but they were very busy that day. We will definitely go back - very relaxing!:D

We went to this in December and while I didn't expect to really like it, I was quite surprised at how much fun it turned out to be. Our waiter was wonderful and the food, while not what I would normally choose to eat regularly, was awesome!

I went with my honey and my mother outlaw, who we were trying to do something special for. We had a PS and when my mother outlaw tried to change the plans last minute, we were not able to adjust the PS for her other plans. The Tea was booked solid for the next 3 weeks we were told.

There were so many people that we saw check for walk up availablity when we were there that were turned down or told to wait for possible no shows. I had a lady from some other country offer me money for our PS booking. I turned her down of course.

If you ever thought you would want to do this Tea, then by all means make a PS and do it. You will enjoy yourself. Maggie

This a wonderfully relaxing area. The tea selections are great and the food good. The devonshire cream with strawberries is decadent.

I have taken my sister, mother and a few girlfriends. They are just amazed at how wonderful it is. Often we get the tea for two.

This is definitely a dont mix activity. As for PS unless you are going during holiday period you should easily be able to walk in. But I make a PS just to be safe.

DW and I have done the tea twice, most recently two weeks ago today. The first time, DW had the Buckingham Palace and I had the Prince Edward's Tea (see the link to the menu in an earlier post on this thread). This last time, we ordered tea and food a la carte. DW had scones followed by strawberries and cream. I had the Gentleman's Tea Platter. This is almost the same as the Prince Edward except for no scones and no port. The tea platter is actually a better buy if you will take advantage of all the food (and drink) offered, but we were dining at Chef de France later that same day so we went the al a carte route this time. We each selected a different tea both times we've been there. I can recommend the hot cinnamon spice tea; quite delicious. We had not booked a PS this time, but were seated shortly after 2 pm after the CMs had seated all the guests with 2 pm PS.

thank you all for the wonderful reviews! Now, I really can't wait to go. I think I want one of everything:hyper:
We do have a PS, I didn't want to take any chances on missing out on this!
:wave2:

hmmmmmmm, good question. I would think "resort casual" or if you want to do it up right. maybe a sundress with a terrible cute garden hat!:teeth:

Yeah I have done it, dont remember what I had I was just curious with all the beautiful landscaping why did they have the windows painted with beautifull scenery. I thought it migh be cause of the heat from the Florida sun but they could have gotten special windows for that.

Hi there!

I just got back from disney world 3 days ago and I had tea with my sisterin law and mother in law. It was the highlight of my trip!! I've been to disney countless times and this was the perfect way to escape the rat race of the parks and relax. We felt like girly girls it was great! We all had the buckingham palace tea and it was delicious. We purposely skipped lunch so we were starving when we got there and we were stuffed when we left!! I will do tea every time I go to Disney from now on. I cant wait till my little girl is old enough to go! We also saw a tea party going on for a group of 5 year olds(soo cute) they were all dressed up with white gloves, hats, pearls and white feather boas!! You can't imagine how cute they were and they knew it!!

You CANNOT miss having tea this way!! Enjoy!:sunny: :wave2:

This has become one of my favorite things to do. It is very relaxing, especially in the hot summer. The tea is done from 2-6 in the afternoon. We have always made a PS, once we needed it another time we did not. We usually wear casual clothes, but have seen some women in dresses and hats. The Buckingham Tea served 4 sandwiches-a cucumber, egg salad, salmon, and pear/gorganzola. We also had a sweet onion tart, scones with Devonshire cream, and a choice of 2 pastries or strawberries with cream.

I LOVED the Buckingham Palace when I was there in December! The pear sandwich was wonderful. The chocolate strawberries were better than any I ever had. I would love to go again and I would order the same things!
