I know it isn't something anyone should expect, ever, but I would love to hear your pixie dust stories. My family, who are all in the high risk category has been stuck at home since March 15. I needs some cheering up plus it is wonderful to hear the things Disney has done. :)

My last trip before all of this happened was a trip to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were sharing a room at Art of Animation in a Little Mermaid room (which we were LUCKY to get because of cheering competitions.) When I checked in, we found out we were updated to a 1 bedroom suite. It was delightful having 2 bathrooms for 2 women to get ready in the morning. Never gotten an upgrade before and certainly don't expect them but it was a wonderful treat for my friend's birthday!

How awesome! Did you tell them you were celebrating a birthday? We will be celebrating my husband's 75th!

Pixie Dust 2017: This is only pixie dust in that the category I booked was not available on the day I checked in. Arrived at AKL around 7 pm to be met by a cast member as we got out of our car. We were escorted up to the Club Lounge and informed that since the room I had booked was not available, our room had been switched to 2 connecting Club Level Savannah View rooms.

This is the only pixie dust for a resort room in all the stays I have had. If I had any other room adjustments, it would have only been such that I did not notice.

Awesome! What room did you originally book?

My sister and I stayed at the Dolphin on our first trip back to Walt Disney World as adults. They upgraded us to a nice water view room with a balcony. Not as big an upgrade as some others have mentioned, but it was a lovely surprise and spoiled me for future trips.

I've had "Pixie Dust" 3 times. In other words, I was "walked" from one resort to another.

The first time was right after 9/11 and CBR closed. Disney called me to let me know that the resort was closed and offered me an upgrade to the Polynesian for just a little bit more.

The second time was in 2004 when I had a reservation at POFQ and it closed and they offered me an upgrade to Animal Kingdom for just a little bit more. Once there, they upgraded us from Standard View to Savannah View. That one ended up costing us thousands because we loved AK so much we bought 100 DVC points there when they opened.

The last time was in 2008, again at POFQ. We had free dining booked there and *really* wanted to stay there. Instead of reaching out to us in advance, they turned us away at the front desk. They offered to upgrade us to a studio at SSR but we have just come from one the week before. They came back and said that we could have a 1BR instead and I gave up fighting it.

I've also received view upgrades a few times. I was upgraded from a standard view studio to a garden view studio at Boardwalk Villas once. I'm not sure how much of an upgrade it was since it was a handicapped room. I was also upgraded to a water view with a balcony at the Dolphin. Most of my WDW stays are now DVC so I don't get Pixie Dust any longer. I get what I pay for ;).

One year we were upgraded from standard to a pirate room at CBR. Another we were placed in garden view at POR when booked standard.
We've had Mickey bars purchased "by Mickey" when going to pay. My kids ended up with a private play time with Peter Pan when they were little in the Magic Kingdom.
My DD was given a charm free when the snow white one we bought for her bracelet broke.
My kids were chosen one time to open the Toy Factory in Disney Springs and were engineers of the day.

Some may not consider in this category but to me it was true pixie dust when my dad was chosen as Veteran of the Day when he had 4 out of 5 of his grandkids on trip

I don't think mine counts as pixie dust as we were technically assigned a room in our category, but it was hands down the best room ever.

We booked a standard room at GF for our honeymoon. I submitted a room request via TP for a specific building and higher floor. When we checked in, the lady at the front desk said they had a wide availability of rooms and asked if we had any preferences. I just said we didn't want a ground floor room. She picked one out for us in a completely different building than I requested, and when we got to the room I was blown away. It had a view of Space Mountain, and a tiny view of the castle in the far corner. At night, we had a perfect view of all the fireworks, none were blocked. It was the most beautiful room view I've ever had and don't know if another will top it!

Times we have received pixie dust:

In 2008, we were staying in ASMu in the Country section for 7 nights. After two nights, we were so tired of the long walk back to our room with two small children. I honestly think we had the most remote room on property. I stopped at the front desk and asked if there were any available rooms closer to the front and what would the price difference be. The CM said there was only a family suite available and she would be able to give it to us for the same price we were paying for our room! It was such a special surprise.

In 2012, hubby and I were staying at AKL (without the kiddos). We had not paid for a savanna view room, but when we checked in the CM said she was able to give us a room with a great view. She said technically they couldn't call it a savanna room because it was over a corral, but she thought we might like it. She was right! Even though there was a corral in front of our room, we could see the entire savanna. The giraffes even slept right by our balcony two nights. It was a great surprise!

In 2010, we checked in super early to the Beach Club. The CM said our room wasn't ready, but she could put upgrade us to a water view for the same price and it would ready for us immediately. We had paid for a standard room. We were delighted! When we got to our room, we had to laugh at our "water view" room. You had to stand on the tiny balcony and lean way over and you could see the very corner of the swimming pool. So I guess you could call that "pixie dust." :rotfl:

We go often for our anniversary and wear anniversary buttons. We have received some yummy desserts and once a were given two glasses of champagne to toast our anniversary with.

    Kinda a long backstory

Almost 10 years ago, Mom & I had taken a 10 night trip during F&W. Any way on our last day we decided to
resort hop around the monorail and the CM's at one of CR stores were putting out Christmas merchandise.
Fast forward a few days after arriving at home, mom keeps picking the WDW guide books and she did this for several days before I asked if I should call our TA. Well after the repeated guide book reading she finally said call her(the TA).

We wanted a room at the GF but nothing was available on 3.5 weeks notice so we booked a CL room at the YC. So that's where we were gonna stay a quick 3 night trip at a new to us resort. Well after we received our DME tags I had the brilliant idea to go poking around the pass holder section on the disney website, saw they had a GF king room in RPC avail, told mom she said call the TA and switch. Well I did.

Fast forward to our early December arrival day.
We arrive by DME, met by a GF CM taken to the third flood to check in. The room was ready but that was fine with
us so we wandered around the resort to see the decorations since this was our first holiday visit. I decided to duck into that bathroom between 1900 PF and the GF Cafe and as I was finishing my cell beeped, it was a "your room is ready text".
I almost had a heart attack when I saw the room number, 4001 aka The Grand Suite. That room was and probably still is fabulous

We were pixie dusted pixiedust: a few times at the GF but this was our first.

We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom from a studio at the Riviera last February. That’s our only pixie dust ever but we’ll take it. Funny thing was of course it was a trip with just my daughter and I instead of all four of us.

We were booked at All Star Sports. Our room was needed due to a cheerleading competition & we were upgraded to a suite at Art of Animation. It was awesome!

Since we are dvc I book what I want and don’t expect any upgrades. A few years ago we had a split stay in 2 bedroom units. The first half was at Boulder Creek. When we arrived at Boardwalk for the second half of our stay we were met in the lobby by a cast member that explained that there was a problem with our room. They put us in a grand villa. Of course it worked in their favor since we have booked grand villas ever since when all of us go.

In 2018, we were booked at All Star Sports. After arriving , we got the text alerting us our room was ready. So tired from our flight and ready to plop all our bags down, we were totally bummed to walk into a dirty room. The beds were all rumpled. There was trash all over. It smelled like armpit. Ick. So my exhausted butt walks down to the lobby to ask for another room or have that one cleaned. The CM was appalled! He apologized and gave us a much closer, pool area room. That's not really pixie dust since he was just correcting the issue. But then he went above and beyond by giving us the ever elusive "golden tickets". They were good for 2 complimentary QS meals anywhere onsite. He also gave us each a free refill mug to use for our entire stay!

Also on that trip, I had purchased a lil souvenir at the Epcot China pavilion for friend. I had it sent to my hotel because I didn't want to carry it around. Well, when I went to pick it up, it had come up missing! They looked everywhere and could not locate it. So they sent a runner to get me a brand new one. I was totally fine with that. I even felt a little guilty cuz the situation could have been avoided if I had just put it in my backpack in the first place. lol The manager of the gift shop started low key chatting with me about other things I like about Disney...like my favorite characters and what not. When I told her I'm a big collector of all things Mickey, she grabbed like 3 Mickey coffee mugs and told me I could have my favorite one for free. Disney really goes the extra mile. I have worked retail and I currently work in the service industry. I understand the hassle of just resolving regular problems. But dang. They always blow me away with their extra efforts.

Lastly, about 5 years back at Disneyland, my son, 11yrs old, (who has severe autism) was having a FULL BLOWN MELTDOWN. We had deviated from our routine because I had ADRs for Blue Bayou. Because the schedule was different than what he expected and we were starving , it caused him to scream and cry. He was desperately trying to just run into the Haunted Mansion (Maybe because it's dark/quiet in there? idk). My mother and I were both trying to soothe him with soft words and hugs and redirection. Episodes like that are always stressful for everyone involved. One nice lady came up and recognized it was an 'autism thing' and not a 'tantrum.' She gave him a cool Dory pin and offered her support with some kind words. That was some pixie dust from another guest. Being a parent to a special kiddo can be tough sometimes. When people reach out with empathy instead of judgement...well, it is GREATLY appreciated. Moments later, a Haunted Mansion CM approached us and asked my very distraught son to follow him. He walked us right into the stretching room! After the ride, he was calm and happy and life was back to normal. We did end up missing our dinner, but that kind woman and the CM really made the transition back to normal after that panicky meltdown.
