I have been not so patiently waiting for someone to start an October 2014 thread for Disneyland, but haven't seen one yet! It has been torture following the October 2014 WDW thread and not having one for DL, so I figured it was time to just make one myself. I know that it's still 6months away but i feel like I am so behind and should have started planning in January lol.

My Oct trip - DD(12) & I are venturing on our first mother daughter trip as well as our first trip to Disneyland. She just doesn't know it yet hehehe.
We are offically heading to DL Oct 22-29th. You can follow along in my pre-trip report in my siggy if you want.

Hopefully this will be a most excellent place to share tips, ideas and personal experiences with visiting DL in October!

I AM ! I AM ! We are going October 2-12! I'm going with my mom & dad, my sister and my 2 kids .... DD (11) and DS(15). This is the second disney trip for my kids and they are super stoked! We are flying to LAX from Edmonton, Alberta. We are planning on staying the first 7 days at the Desert Inn & Suites . Mom and dad are leaving after 7 days. My sister, the kids and I are then switching hotels (which is our surprise for the kids) and staying at PPH for our last three nights. I have never stayed at a Disney hotel at DL so I'm pretty excited for that! We are planning on getting 5 day park hoppers and doing the MHP one night as well. Keeping fingers crossed that we have good luck with minimal refurbs.

That sounds like a wonderful trip you have planned. Have you stayed at the Desert Inn before? That is a wonderful surprise for your children. Someday I would like to stay on property as well. Hopefully we can get loads of October DISers to plan with on here

No , I've never stayed at the desert inn before. Last time we were at the Best Western Anaheim Inn, and I've stayed at the Hojo as well.

We haven't stayed at Desert Inn before. I'd love to hear some experiences from others that have. I got to stay at PPH on a trip with friends years ago so I know that my sister and the kids will love staying there.

I'm really looking forward to Mickey's Halloween Party. I've done MNSSHP at Walt Disney World and had a blast.

No , I've never stayed at the desert inn before. Last time we were at the Best Western Anaheim Inn, and I've stayed at the Hojo as well.

Hojo was one of my main contenders. Is it as nice as the reviews say it is??

Lol quite the coincidence I would say Glad to have you both here. Glad to know i'm not the only DISer with a long countdown. I am also really looking forward to the MHP. Hojo was nice . It has a great pool! But it is a bit longer of a walk than the best westerns or desert inn from the main entrance.

We have been thinking of costume ideas too! Since we are travelling from canada, we need something pretty easy to pack in the suitcases.... Prisoners &police officer was one we were thinking of. My son was edging towards Hans solo.

How about you? Where are you travelling from and what are your ideas? Are you planning on going to universal studios? Anything other than Disney?

I've been lurking on the boards for years, but just registered this time as we plan our trip. My husband grew up right by DLR and went all the time. I didn't get to start going until we got married. We go every 1-2 years. I may have gone overboard with the excitement this time, but I know everyone on here understands.

The pool is what caught my attention @ HOJO but the more i thought about it the less i figured my then 12 yr old would actually enjoy it. Overall the walking distance of BWPPI won, more for safety purposes being as it will just be DD and myself.

We are also coming from Canada (sk. well actually sk to Calgary to LAX lol) so costumes for us will also have to be small and easily packed. I have no idea yet what to be and because it is a surprise trip for DD i have to choose without her input. Hoping i know her well enough to pick something she will like but she's a tween now so who knows lol. Thankfully she is like me and will truly just be thrilled to be in a costume @ Disneyland.

Have not given a lot of thought to actual itinerary but have interest in the San Diego zoo and a beach day. Maybe Newport beach or Huntington seeing as they are both real close and accessible by bus. Will have to do more research on that.

We did a hop on-hop off beach tour on our last family trip in 2010. My sister booked it so she might remember the name of the tour. It went to Huntington, Newport, and Laguna beaches. You could chose to stay at whichever of the beaches you wanted. We ended up spending 2 or 3 hours in Newport Beach and the same amount of time in Laguna Beach. It was a fun day!

This trip we are planning Universal (we skipped this last trip as we figured the kids would be too young to enjoy it), a Hollywood tour, and we are renting a car for a day and taking a trip to Joshua Tree.

Flying in from Australia on October 22nd, til November 2nd.......we have ten day park hopper passes!
All our plans include so far are breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen, lunch at Ariel's Grotto, a visit to BBB for DD7, DS5 and DS2, and a first trip to Disneyland for everyone (except me.....I have visited once before, 16 years ago!) counting down, and simply Can't wait!!!!!! ☺

I will be there in October with my step-son, daughter-in-law, grandson (4 yr) and granddaughter (9 yr). We are flying from PDX on the 21st and home on the 28th. Park days 22 - 27 with one a party day. We have booked a kids suite at HOJO. I have never been to the Halloween Party and am looking forward to it. I am anxiously awaiting the party dates!

The hubs and I will be there from the 8th to the 12th! Staying GCH for our first anniversary! I've never even been to California before, so I am super excited! We also get to visit our friend and her son (due in June on our actual anniversary!). I cannot wait!

It was called the OC Beach Bus Tour - We really enjoyed it ! You were picked up in a bus decorated with surf boards down the sides and the driver (Tom) told you information about the area as he drove.

We are probably going to be pirates for the Halloween party. DD has already said she's going to be an "evil" mermaid from POTC. Today is our 180 day mark... Kinda weird not making all the reservations today. Glad to see this thread. I'm in a dis'ers October group on Facebook but there are only a couple of us doing DLR. maybe we should start one for DLR only!

I was looking into both the beach tour and the hollywood tour when i was still considering a package from Disney Travel. Might have to consider the beach tour some more based off of your experience. excited to hear your opinion of the hollywood tour afterwards. if DBF was coming on this trip it would be a must do. Another place i wouldn't mind seeing is the La Brea tar pits.

Welcome!! I am loving that the little group is getting bigger every day. I just knew I wasn't the only one in full on Disney planning mode for their Oct trip. I too am anxiously awaiting the Halloween info to be released. Looking forward to planning with you

THANK YOU!!! I will definitely look into it. I read negative reviews on the tour, about the driver being lame and the bus dirty and enclosed so you couldn't see anything. I always prefer actual personal experience over internet reviews because who knows who is actually writing them.

Welcome!! I totally understand what you mean about the reservations thing. I kind of feel lost not having my whole trip ready to reserve like last year at WDW.
