The TR that shouldn't have happened - June 2012 - TR and Decision Complete!

Day 2

The alarm was set for 6:30, my first appointment was at 9:30. I wanted time to hit snooze, make my new reservation, call the front desk, eat breakfast, get ready and get on the road to deal with any traffic.

When the alarm went off, I realized I didn't feel good and hit snooze. I couldn't put my finger on what my issue was, I just knew that I didn't feel good. 10 minutes later... I still felt awful. Was it allergies? I wasn't awake enough to put my finger on it. Finally at 7:45, I made myself get up.

Once I got up and walked around... oh my lord... it's my eye. My right eye will not open and it hurts terribly. The next half hour went like this:

*put eye drops in---still bad.
*take contact out---still bad, and wayyyyy to bad to put a new one in.
*completely red and won't open.
*cold wash cloth applied.
*google issues... who say do a warm compress.
*switch to warm wash cloth.
*call disney reservations, make ressie for next 3 nights
*call front desk with continuing reservation number (all while holding my eye)
*go back to the mirror and look at my eye--the redness has gone down, and it's opening a little easier, but when open--it realllly hurts.
*WAIT--what.in.the.world.is.that????? There's a little clearish/whitish mark on the top right part of the brown part of my eye.
*YIKES! Back to google. Is this happening? I'm away and I have a million things to do.
*Okay... it's a corneal ulcer. Luckily smaller than the ones I saw online. From the explanations--it's fairly serious and needs treatment immediately. It happens from wearing contacts too long--which makes no sense since I have extended wear contacts--but whatever. I read about it for a few minutes so I knew what I was dealing with.
*YIKES AGAIN! I have to get ready!

Well a few things were for certain. I couldn't wear contacts, so I took the other one out. I got a shower and got dressed. I couldn't believe how painful this thing was. I hated to have my eye open, so I more or less just kept it shut. It was watering pretty bad. I went with no makeup because I didn't want anything to irritate it. As much as I just wanted to lay and cry--I had things to do.

I got all my stuff together and jumped in the car. Oh lord, the sunlight was making this worse, just as the internet said it would. If you remember--in the interest of packing lightly--I didn't bring my Rx sunglasses. :headache: I set up the GPS, and drove to the first place with one eye shut.

I actually was a little early for my appointment, and I sat in the parking lot for a moment and called my eye doctor. I wanted to see if I needed care here, or if he would suggest something else. The front desk said he would call me back. It was 9:10am.

So I head into Heritage on Millenia. It was okay, but it wasn't for me. It was actually pretty nice, but I wasn't in love with the vibe for the price. I left soon after I got there--I didn't stay and chit chat.

Since I left there before my actual appointment was set, I decided to just keep moving. I was on my way to Northbridge on Millenia, saw a Super Target on the way and stopped. I needed something to soothe my eye until my doctor called. I got a mocha frappuccino and eye drops and went on my way.

I got over to Northbridge on Millenia. I loved the vibe here. There was a little towncenter in the front, then it went back to the apartments. They were nice, and I put a star by them in my book. As we were walking back, the leasing agent spoke to a resident and said, "how are you?".... she frantically replied, "well my car just got stolen and no one is doing anything about it." Ugh. :confused3 They chatted for a minute, and as much as I liked this place--I'm not gonna lie--that really freaked me out. I found a place in a great location, with great apartments--but parking sucked and there is obvious vandalism.

Moving on.... I was still wayyyyy early. I drove over to the Esplanade. I loved everything about this place, other than the fact that it comes with a washer and dryer. It was a great price, great location, but that dang washer and dryer. I got all the info just in case DH changed his mind. They gave me coffee and a pack of crackers there. Which was good, because I was beyond starving. I left there with a nice feeling though.

I drove over to The Serrano which used to be condos, but they didn't sell so they were renting them. Since I was early, I had to wait a few minutes, but I took the time to nurse my eye and check a few things on the iPad. I liked that this place had valet trash and you didn't have to walk your own garbage to the dumpster. The prices were pretty good too. We went into the apartment, and it was pretty much ewwwwww. I wanted out, but I kept smiling at the nice lady who acted like it was a luxurious place. It looked old, and run down, but she gave me a butterfinger, chips, and a water from the model fridge. Lol--these places loved feeding me :rotfl: I said my goodbyes and got out of there. I was running so far ahead of schedule it was amazing!!!

So I start to drive toward Canopy Apartment Villas. It wasn't that close, so I had a little drive. It was about 12:30, and about that time, the eye doctor called. GPS was trying to talk, I was trying to hear him, and I apologized and tried to explain why I was down there. He asked where a pharmacy was that he could call in antibiotic eye drops? Ummm--there was a Walgreens directly on my right, so I pulled in like a psycho. The GPS lady was mad. So I gave him the address, and he said he was sending it immediately. I thanked him profusely.

I got back to the pharmacy. There was a huge line. I guess since Tropical Storm Debby was on her way, everyone wanted their prescriptions. So I get up in line, tell them my Rx was called in, they ask for my card.... all I had was my insurance card, my not prescription card :headache: The Walgreens system from KY to FL was different--I told them to just give it to me with no insurance, I would pay it. They said it would be 30 minutes. So I wait.

I shopped around, I bought an umbrella as all signs were looking like I would need it.

I went back to the pharmacy. It was clear that I wasn't in the best area in town. There was a little hoopla, and I was ready to depart. I stood in line again to see if it was ready, because my name wasn't even on the screen. They said no one put it in--it would be ready in 20 minutes. What??

So I sit, I eat my crackers and chips. I talked to DH on the phone for a bit. It was about 30 minutes and I still wasn't called. I stood in line again. It was getting a little rowdy back there, and I wanted out. They told me they couldn't read the Dr's instructions and they had a call into him to call back, but he was with a patient. I sat down and cried. I finally melted down. He's not the kind of doctor that spends 10 minutes with you and leaves. He takes forever. I'm now at an hour and a half there. So about 20 minutes later, I'm trying to stop my meltdown, and I walk away from the pharmacy to call the doctor myself. I talk to the front desk girl and in tears, whisper that I'm in a horrible part of town, and I've been here almost 2 hours... please please please hurry this up. A few minutes later, the Dr called me and said all was good and to take care of myself. So I go back up and stand in line, pay for my stuff and high tail it out of there. That was 2 hours I will never get back. Two hours that ruined my schedule.

I put my eyedrops in (Cipro), and found it funny how bad they taste--and how odd it is that you can taste eyedrops after about 5 minutes. I know it's all connected--just odd. I continued to my destination. I loved the look of the kitchen at the next place when I looked online!!

So I get to Canopy. I had a ton of trouble finding the leasing office--I actually almost left. Their phone system doesn't go to the property, it goes to a call center. Finally--luck--I get there. They coffee me. The guy was arrogant. We get to the unit... and other than a beautiful kitchen, the rest of the place is gross nasty. How do you have such a beautiful kitchen, and a yuck rest of the place. I didn't get it, but--I think we're done here. I left. This sped up my schedule a bit.

I drove about 30 minutes to the next place, The Reserve at Beachline. Nice looking, close to the airport. It's pouring by this time. I run in there and tell them I'm early. A lovely girl bottle water'd me and we sat down to chat. I go to hand her my ID (which you have to do before you view the properties), and I realized.... that jerky guy from the last place kept it :headache: She, by law, couldn't give me a tour without it. I had no choice but to drive all the way back there. We tried calling--but it was nothing but the call center, and they couldn't get a hold of the property. I thanked her, but advised I probably wouldn't make it back. What a day.

I drive back there in the rain, get out and run in the leasing office.... they guy left for the day, and there was a girl there that got in his desk for me. She apologized and I let her know what I thought of him, and that I was taking another cup of coffee :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: She didn't care--she was nice. They had chocolate creamers there, and it was pretty delish.

Well.... I have to leave my journey here for now.... Something's come up. Be back soon!!

Holey Moley...what a day!! You poor thing - a much deserved meltdown! You must have been quite a sight that day...I have this image of you with one bright red eye, looking miserable, showing up for the apt app'ts...no wonder they wanted to feed you!! ;)

I thought for sure when you ran into the store for a few things it would be sun glasses asap...even cheap ones to put over your eyeglasses or plain ones to protect your eye from light! It happened to me and until I could see a Dr had to wear dark sunglasses all the time...even then the affected eye would slam shut. Still had to wear dark glasses for about 2 wks after seeing the doc. Hope it's okay now.

Hope whatever came up is good and we'll be hearing the rest of the day soon!:goodvibes

Oh my gosh....please tell me things start running a little smoother for you! I would have had a meltdown a lot sooner than you did! You must be one tough cookie!:thumbsup2

Yikes! So sorry about the eye and the jerky agent dude. What a day! I'm hoping the rest of your day went better. :)

I can't believe I got so behind on your TR! Sorry about the ulcer. I can't believe you could see the ulcer. I had them in both eyes once and they weren't big enough for me to see, and I still couldn't open my eyes. Yours must have been crazy painful.

•Dang! I'm so sorry you had to deal with eye issues AND mean people. That is so sucky.
•Also a bummer that you didn't really find any beautiful or clean places! I hope there is some good news at the end of this! :yay:

Oh my goodness! Wow, you are a strong, smart woman! I give you lots of credit for getting through all of that! I hope it gets way better from here!

I hope you are feeling better soon. I have so many issues with my eyes and have to see a cornea specialist so I know how you are feeling.

You are living my dream, relocating to Florida. :) I love hearing about all the properties you are visiting. Keep the reviews coming!

OMGawd, I am completely stressed out. Will you find an apartment? Will you move? Are you going to be able to go to a park?

:laundy::laundy:

2 hours  driving with a boo boo eye :guilty: Deena, you poor thing!

Wow your report is totally riveting, I'm hooked. But more importantly you are an amazing woman. To have put up with all you did I can't get over it. You have such a wonderful way of writing, I can't wait to hear what happens next.

Hi there Deena!:wave2:

I'm a bit late...once again:upsidedow I started reading your TR, then realized what time it was:scared1: I have to be up at 4:30am to take my parents to the airport...I'll certainly finish tomorrow...looking forward to it.

It's getting better!! It's still a little tender, and I'm still in glasses--I'm going to give it another week!! :grouphug: I wished it would have happened a day or so before. Truth be told... that eye was bothering me--but nothing out of the ordinary. Sometimes we have to listen to our bodies better!!!

Oh my gosh....please tell me things start running a little smoother for you! I would have had a meltdown a lot sooner than you did! You must be one tough cookie!:thumbsup2

It's behind... but I want to finish soon!!! Thanks for joining!!

I'm back

So when I got back in my car at Canopy, I needed to make a decision. I had time to visit 2 more places. I had one place that I needed to visit on Monday since they are only M-F, and if I knocked it out today--I would have Sunday and Monday off for parks. It's pouring anyway--what else would I do? Okay... lets do it!! I put it in the address in GPS and it said 48 minutes. Ewww--but oh well.

And I drive... and drive... I was actually getting good at driving around here!! I get into Kissimmee and pretty much come to a dead stop. Was this rush hour? Kinda. Is it this awful every day??

The apartment is in Poinciana. I didn't know what that meant, lol... but I was trying to look at places in each area.

Apparently there is one way in and out of Poinciana, and there was an accident on it. What should have taken me 48 minutes, took me an hour and a half to get to, and I barely made it to the Fountains at San Remo before they closed. I had called out of courtesy, and she told me no rush :)

One thing was for certain--this place was too far away. The apartments were nice, the floorplan could work, the price was right--just too far away. The leasing agent let me know that they are building an identical property that will be available late summer in Orlando!! This was music to my ears. She gave me the info on the new property, I thanked her, and started to dread my trip back. Luckily--getting back to All Star Movies wasn't going to be as bad.

By this time, I'm getting really tired of the rain. I drive and drive. I'm so hungry. If you have been reading along--I never stopped for food all day. Crackers here and a candy bar there don't really cut it. I didn't know what to eat.

I got back to the room, changed, looked out the window--it looked like the rain stopped. Good. The Magic Kingdom was open until 2am, so I figured I'd head there. I walked over to Music and caught the bus.

Of course, it started raining again.

I get in the gate, and whoa. This wasn't May, this definately wasn't November. Folks, this is summer break:

And this is the weather:

IMG_3434.jpg

I hadn't been in the summer in about 12 years. Yikes. Oh well--I decided I wanted Casey's. I got in there and waited in line. I got my food, my cheese and ketchup, and walked all the way over to Sleepy Hollow to find a covered place to sit.

IMG_3433.jpg

After I was done eating, I didn't know what I wanted to do. The rain was worse, and I left my poncho and umbrella at the room. I decided to just walk back through the shops. That was until I realized how crowded the shops were. The emporium was impossible. I crossed over to the shop with the Dooneys and girly stuff. I got a new wallet, a new poncho, and a couple mystery pin boxes. I wanted out. It was too crowded. I left and jumped on the boat to the Grand Floridian.

I got 2 barrells of bath bombs at Basin White, shopped around the other shops, contemplated going into the Grand Floridian Cafe for a piece of lemon cheesecake--but didn't. I had some time to kill before Wishes, and I ran into Gasparilla's for apples and caramel and a bottled water.

I watched from Sago Cay, where I, at one point, reserved for my wedding. It is a beautiful spot, but I wouldn't take back my Polynesian Beach wedding for anything. I was the only person over there. You couldn't hear the music, and the clouds blocked much of the fireworks. Plus--Wishes wasn't Wishes without DH being there. I hadn't really felt "alone" until I was watching without him.

Creepy rainy night GF:

IMG_3435.jpg

I walked over to the boat dock-talked to the sweetest little girl on the way, thought about going back into the MK, but I had a really long day and kind of just wanted to go to sleep.

I hopped the bus to Movies, checked out the gift shop, the pin board there, then I went over to the food court to get a cherry coke. I wasn't really hungry, but for some reason, I got food court spaghetti and meatballs. I also got milk for my cereal I had brought with me, and those yummy mickey shaped cheese crackers.

I walked back to my room, passing all the cute dalmations :) They were cute. The spaghetti was gross as I suspected. I looked over my itinerary for Saturday, did another search to see if I wanted to add anything, and fell asleep watching Say Yes to the Dress. My first appointment the next morning was at 8:30am, that's really early :(

And that's Day 2!! Can I survive 3 more full days of this?? :confused3

Love the update.

I'm convinced that the rain makes everything more tiring. I'm always much more drained after completing tasks in the rain than I would be doing the same events in the sunshine.
