2,500 posts in 10 years...kids grown up and left...now getting 1 BR instead of 2.. what to do with all the points

Time flies.

I would be happy to use your extra points :)

Seriously, Maybe stay at resorts you haven't tried yet? Go at a time you've never been?

My kids are getting older and want to try DVC away from WDW.

Enjoy :)

We've tried them all except VB. Thoroughly enjoyed every visit to DVC. Very few complaints. However, when we go to HH now we stay at a beachside condo that is right next to the Disney beach house. Captain's Walk. The Disney resort is great if you get a view of the water, but we didn't get that the last couple of times, and it's nice hear the surf at night.

We always end up back at OKW west though. Home sweet home.

my adult kids raid my stash regularly;), moreso after the 1st grandchild...you just might want to stand pat.

We are empty nesters with 600 points and we have yet to have problem using ours! We do share with the grown kids, but rarely need to bank points. We went to Aulani in November and got a 1 bedroom ocean view - it was AWESOME. We have also been to HH and enjoyed it. Last year we used points for 1 of us to go to Southwest Splendors with Adventures by Disney (adult only trip), and paid cash for the other. We hit Disney World at least once a year (this time 3 trips). Two of them were just us and one is for the grandkids. There are lots of ways to enjoy your points.

I was just going to suggest to the OP to not make any quick decision about selling, with adult kids their may be grand kids in the future.

For now ENJOY your points, expand your use. Try an occasional Adventure by Disney or a cruise, assuming you didn't purchase resale after the restrictions were added. Not the best use of points, but it is better than just letting them expire, and probably more cost effective than selling them and repurchasing when your kids have kids.

Or you could rent them out...but I'd try enjoying the other venues first. :)

We got into DVC long after our kids were grown. We still vacation together sometimes though. We have 470 points and still feel like we could use more.

A previous poster said it best.....go for longer, go more often. Enjoy those points. Don't do anything you may regret. ;)

If we'd a lot a points and didn't want to extend our vacation or bother with renting then I'd use them a the Yacht Club or Poly. Those are some point killing venues.

We do it now with the kids, we'll do it more without them! Then again.....

My 16 (soon to be 17) year old son is already planning his 1st trip without adult supervision for him and his friends when he turns 18 using "our" DVC points!

you've reared him well:thumbsup2
