Too much food - Day 2

As usual on vacation, I woke up bright and early and they didn't!!! Made a pot of coffee and read on the balcony for a couple of hours. Yes, I drank the room coffee and lived to tell the tale!!! It was kind of weak and I must confess that I stole creamers from Roaring Forks but it was drinkable.

DH finally got up and he & I went to Roaring Forks for breakfast. Novice that I was, I tried to save credits for later so we split the Bounty breakfast - scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon & 2 pancakes and a bottle of OJ. I got an add'l bottle of OJ and a fruit bowl (good sized). Total about $18.00 used 1 CS and 2 snack credits. I ate the pancakes & brought the fruit to the room. DH ate the rest. We then stopped at the Mercantile and got 1/2 gallon of OJ and a dozen Entenmann's donuts ($7.88) for 2 more snack credits. The kids aren't breakfast eaters, mostly because by the time they get UP, it's time for LUNCH!!! So the juice & donuts were plenty for them & lasted 3-4 days. DH also liked having juice in the fridge to take his pills with in the AM.

Everyone was finally up & out by about 12:30 (you'd think we were on VACATION the way they slept!!!) and on the bus to Downtown Disney for the day. Hit Goofy's for chocolate covered pretzels & other select goodies, paid for these OOP. LOOOOOVED the pretzels, wished I bought more.

Lunch was originally going to be Earl of Sandwich but a picture on the food porn thread sent us to Wolfgang Pucks Express instead. It was raining and would, on and off, for most of the day so WPE was crowded. The restaurant isn't very big so tables are kind of hard to find but DH managed to find one outside but under cover.

SOAPBOX MOMENT: People on vacation are SLOBS!! I know its nice to have someone else clean up after you but come on!! This does not give you license to be a pig. If your food comes on a tray, put the trash back on the tray and throw it out when you are finished. If you drop something, bend your @#$@$@# over and pick it up! It was amazing to watch people finish eating at the counter service restaurants and just leave all the garbage (and the stuff that spilled) on the table. Not asking you to wash the dishes or mop the floor but you should leave the table at least presentable for the next family to use it without a sandblaster!!! Ok, off the box.

At WPE, you order just as you walk in, a little too close to the door actually as the line gets backed up outside. They then give you a cup for your drink, which was self-serve if memory serves, and a card to place on your table. Your order is then brought to you on REAL plates by the staff, a nice touch I thought. Again, in an effort to SAVE credits, we ordered 2 meals for the 4 of us. DS ordered chicken tenders with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. The tenders were big, fresh and meaty and the potatoes delicious (my family is big on mashed potatoes as you will see). The linguini bolognese (bolognese is a rich, meaty tomato sauce, the kind my Nona always made!) was huge and came with a good size piece of garlic bread. The sauce was a little spicy and very good. Given the fact that we were munching on candy from Goofy's, 2 meals were plenty for us. I would HIGHLY recommend WPE for a great meal at DTD. Total $23.22

Dinner was OOP this night. We had tickets for Cirque du Soleil at 9PM and I though DH would enjoy eating at House of Blues. We got there a little early but were seated right away. The restaurant has great artwork everywhere and blues and jazz playing on TV's placed around the dining room. I had a Chicken Ceasar, DH had pasta with roasted vegetables and both kids had boneless fried chicken (not tenders, HUGE pices of boneless chicken!!) The highlight of the meal was the dipping sauce for the chicken which, the waitress said, was made with orange marmalade and a seeded brown mustard.
Nick loved it. The rest of the dinner was good, as was the service, but nothing extraordinary. Total w/tax & tip $69.94

Total for the day: 3 Cs $33.53
4 sn cr 15.00
plus yesterday's 4 TS 187.56

DDP total so far $236.09
