Top 5 Movies

1) Star Wars
2) Lord of the Rings (I can't pick 1 of the trilogy, so am treating it as one)
3) It's a Wonderful Life
4) Casablanca
5) Dances With Wolves

Family Favorites: (by what we watch the most on Disney+)

1. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (DD1)
2. Beauty and the Best (DW)
3. Star Wars (Original) (Mine)
4. Toy Story
5. Mary Poppins

1 Lawrence of Arabia
2 Godfather
3 Casablanca
4 Godfather Part II
5 And to put a comedy in here, I'll go with Caddyshack.

On any particular day I could switch around 1, 2 & 3. Today that's how I'd rank them. :D

I'm glad to see a vote for The Quiet Man. I love that movie and it would make my list if we could choose more than 5. So beautifully shot and the characters are wonderful. That's John Ford at his peak, IMHO. An underrated movie.

I always have to start my reply to favorite movies w 'besides Star Wars/ Raiders, LotR, and now Avengers (mainly just Ragnorak and Endgame).' Those are givens
not in order
1. Terms of Endearment
2. Last of the Mohicans
3. Fried Green Tomatoes
4 League of Their Own
5. hmmm several ties.... Shawshank redemption, Little Miss Sunshine, Parenthood, About a Boy (I know I"m cheating w all the extras, just too many to pick from,)

(I decided to omit MCU movies as they would take up a lot of this list, though honestly a lot of the plot threads I love are spread out through several movies, making it difficult to pick out specific favorites)

Lord of the Rings (I consider them one movie, but if I HAD to pick one, Return of the King)
The Great Gatsby (2013)
Casino Royale (2006)
Casablanca
Tomorrowland
Casino Royale - solid choice. Don't know why I forgot that one, watch it at least twice a year.

Last of the Mohicans - do you mean the Daniel Day Lewis version? So beautiful.

I consider a top movie one that I can watch over and over...so here are mine;

1. Jaws
2. Where Eagles Dare
3. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
4. Grease
5. What Lies Beneath

No particular order:
1. White Christmas with Bing Crosby/Danny Kaye
2. Hello Dolly-Barbara Striesand
3. Quiet Man with John Wayne/Maureen O'Hara
4. A Song is Born-Danny Kaye
5. State of the Union with Katherine Hepburn and Spence Tracy.

In no order; I love them all:

The Miracle Worker
The Women
Footlight Parade
Singin' in the Rain
An American in Paris

  • McLintock!
  • Live and Let Die
  • Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
  • Song of the South
  • The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)

All of those movies just so love what they are. Speed Racer really captured the tone of the show, which was kind of silly, especailly the English translation. I can never say enough good things about Emma Roberts' Nancy Drew either. Talk about a movie that gets no respect at all! It loves itself and it loves the audience too. I can't understand how there weren't six sequels!
I agree. Lilly and Lana challenged and changed the way we experienced movies. The movie was to “Japanimation” (as we called back then. At least I did), what Burton’s Batman was to comic books.

Interestingly enough, I am not a big Wachowski's fan at all (never cared for The Matirx), but Speed Racer, they got right! It was so beautiful too that it ws the reason I upgraded to Bluray at the time, knowing I would want that one to look as good as possible.
