Vancouver Question

We stayed at the YWCA Vancouver Hotel, just off Robson, on our first visit. Everyone had roller bags, and we utilized the lovely train system for a short ride to the Canada Place area, The weekend for a May 23 cruise offers a 2 queen room with private bath for 2A 2C at a $183 CAD + tax. The hotel is co-Ed.

If you have hotel loyalty points, you might get an excellent value for them. I booked my niece in a Hampton Inn (just down the street from the YWCA) at 50K points/ night for a room priced at over $400.

Both of these hotels are near the BC Arena on Robson Street.
Thank you!

We are going on the May 23rd Alaskan cruise. Are there any must see sights in Vancouver since we will be flying in a day or two early. Thanks.

You might need a few extra days to take in all the activities available...
  • Day 1 => Capilano, Grouse, Gastown, Granville Island, Stanley Park, gardens?
  • Day 2 => Whistler Day trip?
  • Day 3 => Victoria and Vancouver Island day trip?

All good suggestions. We rented bicycles (lots of shops along Denman St.) and rode the loop (~2km) around Stanley Park. There was a small Farmer's market there too.

There is an enthusiastically supported Minor League baseball team in town as well.

Whale watching, if they are running. In Vancouver you can see Orcas. In Alaska, you’re more likely to see Humpback Whales. If you choose one out of Stevenson, you may have some time afterwards to see the town, which is where Once Upon a Time was filmed.

We stayed at the Sutton Place hotel, abs enjoyed it a lot. The room was spacious, the staff were friendly, and it was not a bad walk (about 10 minutes, with luggage) to the cruise terminal.

We've also stayed at the Pinnacle Harbour Front (hotwire hot rate deal) and thought it was very pleasant.
