Hello all!

We are traveling to Vegas in June 09 to celebrate a 40th birthday!! The dates are June 23-26. There will be 10 adults - 5 couples.

Where do we stay?!?!?!?! I was thinking Ballys, NYNY or the Monte Carlo. What do you suggest and why??

Also where and when to get the best rates.

TIA for all information I receive!! I have never been to Vegas before and need some help from those experienced!!:)

I have stayed at Treasure Island twice - Loved that Hotel

I dream of staying at the Venetian.....so beautiful and romantic
The Bellagio is also beautiful and IMO in a good location

My BFF loves Mandalay Bay, newer hotel, great restaurants and a wonderful pool but end of strip.

Monte Carlo is older but it is in a nice location
NY NY seems really loud and the food was lousy again, decent location

My Brother likes the MGM

Sundays - Thurs generally have the best rates, especially in the summer when it is hotter than the hinges of heck in Vegas.

Happy Planning

I have not stayed at Bally's and I would not. Out of the other two you have chosen, I liked NYNY better than Monte Carlo. Reason: Monte Carlo is somewhat bland IMO. NYNY has more energy, more theming.

Personally, if I'm going to stay that far down on the strip, I like Mandalay the best. However, I prefer to stay more central on the strip. In addition to NYNY and Monte Carlo, I have stayed at MGM, Paris, Treasure Island, Mirage, Bellagio, Caesars and Venetian. Venetian is my favorite of all that I have tried.

If you go to each hotel's website and sign up for their newsletters, they will email any upcoming deals. I've gotten a few that were fabulous.

Thank you both for your replies and suggestions!! I would love to stay at the Belagio or Mandalay Bay but some of the people in our party do not want to spend that much money. We were hoping for a great room at about 75-125 a night. Hopefully I can find something I really like within everyones budgets!!

Any other suggestions and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Keep looking, the worse the economy gets the better the room rates will be in Vegas - they are really hurting, trust me, Vegas feeds the state coffers and the coffers are bone dry if I read one more article about the next budget cut and what it has affected I'm going to pull my hair out! Our state cut 14% this past year and is looking at another 20% for the coming year - Pretty soon at the rate the Governor is ordering cuts, the Univ. where my DS attends will be self taught. :headache:

I went to Vegas right after (3 weeks) 9/11 and stayed at Treasure Island for $65 on a Friday and Saturday night - I would not be surprised to see these types of rates return.

Keep looking.......

My suggestion is either Harrahs or Paris, both are great location & reasonable, never stayed in Ballys but also great location. I would recommend staying center strip, it is much easier to get everywhere, Monte Carlo is a little more towards one of the ends, so is MGM. How much are you really going to be in the room?? Just get a place that is clean and reasonable, spend your money in other places!!

You'll have a blast. I personally love the Venetian, my stay in July was amazing! Time to sign up for all the players cards for the hotels online and then you'll get sent deals. Venetian just sent me a deal for $99/night, so the deals are there!

As a frequent visitor to vegas I'd say wait until April to book, the deals for June come out in April and with the economy you'll be sure to find a good deal.

I'd try and book mid-strip too, Venetian, Mirage, Paris, Bellagio, Cesaers. What is more important to you? Pool? rooms? location? shows? shopping?

Check out Planet Hollywood. It's center strip, just re-done and real nice. The room rates are pretty decent too.

Check out the website www.cheapovegas.com They have some deals listed on there. I agree with other that I would wait a while and see what specials come out, economy will greatly affect the room prices. If you're flying, I would also check out some of the packages that USAirways vacations, AA vacations and Southwest Vacations has. Sometimes the airfare can be cheaper when booking this way.

Go online and sign up for the hotel's newsletters too.

Earlier this year I went to Vegas for the first time. We debated over many hotels, but ended up at the NYNY. We loved it! We aren't "hoity-toity" people, so we were looking for some more casual evening entertainment, and that was available right in the NYNY. The Irish pub was neat, and the piano bar was super fun! (Highly recommended if you stay there). I thought the location was fine, although it's towards one end of the strip. We did a lot of walking, but we saw and did everything we wanted to without renting a car. You should think about what amenities are important to you and find a hotel that provides that. Have a great time! :thumbsup2

If your looking for a hotel right in the middle of the strip, I would recommend the Flamingo. We enjoyed are stay there and it was quite affordable.

Thank you so much everyone for all your tips and suggestions!! I will do everything you have mentioned about signing up on websites and booking closer to the original date. Thanks so much.....

I really want to stay somewhere nice with all the great features you have mentioned, pools, food, etertainment, etc...

I will keep my eyes out for great deals!!:goodvibes

I would recommend Planet Hollywood... We just went in early Nov our first time to Vegas and it was a great room, great location too! Have fun planning :)

Just to say a little bit about Bally's since you mentioned it and nobody really said anything about it. I stayed there for the first time in August, had a room in the North Tower (the renovated one). The place was fine, not fancy at all, but not horrible either. What I did love about it was that it was connected to Paris, where I spent a lot of time. I really like the casino and food options over there. I wouldn't pay a whole lot for Bally's, but the $70 deal for a Deluxe Room was worth it.
