Does anyone know what the weather will be like in October, around the 8th

Thanks :goodvibes

Still can be quite warm. Plan on 85 degree days but could hit 95 easily. Could get cool enough for a light jacket at night but probably not.

Thanks Tracy, that was helpful. 85 degrees sounds great to me. I've heard the heat is dry, unlike Florida which is humid.

Humid weather makes me feel tired, heavy, lifeless and I have no energy... Is this how I will feel in Vegas if it's hot or is it a different kind of heat. What does dry heat make you feel like?

Sorry if this is a stupid question :rolleyes1

The desert heat is much easier to handle then the east-coast heat. I don't know how to describe it really. You'll be in the cooled casino, and when you walk outside you immediately feel the hot sun. And I mean HOT (maybe not in October, in the summer). The difference is you don't get the flop-sweat like you do with the humidity. You definitely know that it's hot, but your clothes don't get as wet and sticky.
I would say that 85 in Las Vegas probably feels like 72 in the Florida summer.

Hope you get great weather!

I just heard it explained this way on the radio: In humid weather, your body cannot absorb any sweat so the sweat moves to the outside of your body and additionally gets your clothes wet. With dry heat, your body can absorb much more sweat so your clothes stay drier and it is less uncomfortable.
I can tell you one thing, there comes a point where it doesn't much matter! Here in California where I'm staying, it was 107 yesterday! It wasn't really humid, but it was still miserable! :confused3

The weather is usually great in October. I would bring a light jacket just in case but you probably won't need it. Have a great time!

I'm from Florida and I visited Vegas in early October. When I was there the highs were around 90-92 with cool nights.I think starting the week after I left I checked their temps and I think they started coming down mid October. As far as humidity compared to Florida it's not even close, you sweat 1/10th of what you do in Florida. However every day I was there it was completely sunny without a cloud in the sky and I would say with the temps around 90 it was definitely hot,you don't sweat much as I walked the entire strip but dry heat is still pretty hot.One thing I needed constantly was water.Overall it's a good time to visit Vegas,at least better than when my parent's went in July with the temps around 115+,they described it as stepping into an oven!!!!

I was there last year in October and it was only in the 70's and low 80's during the day. With the low humidity it was beautfiul weather for doing alot of walking, but we FROZE at the pool.

That's just what I wanted to hear AnneMarie, I'm hoping it will be comfortable enough to walk in as we will be doing loads of walking up and down the strip.

I was just there again in August and what a difference! It was so hot, between 106 and 110 every day. It was like breathing in fire. We could hardly walk the strip, it was too exhausting. But, we did enjoy the pool!

Have a great trip. Where are you staying?

I really don't want it to be too hot.... I have no intention of going to the pool, as a first timer there will be too much that I want to do.

We are staying at Planet Hollywood for one week.... I just can't wait

Where did you stay AnneMarrie, did you do a trip report?

I stayed at the Bellagio in October (for my 25th Anniversary) and then I stayed at the Wynn in August. Both are beautiful hotels. I did do a trip report for my October trip. I'll try to find it and post it, if you would like.

Planet Hollywood used to be the Aladdin. It is a nice hotel and you are in a GREAT location, right next to PARIS (where I stayed in 2004) and near the Bellagio. Planet Hollywood also has a great buffet.

I'd be happy to answer any of your questions, just let me know.

On the other hand, I was there last October (mid-month) and it poured rain with a ton of lightning. October/November can be bit unpredictable at times, from my experience. Take the above advice as a general guideline, but keep your eye on weather reports for any oddities that may occur.

It is usally warm the first 3 weeks then it's cold on Haloween.

You are absolutely right. We had great weather for our October trip and the day that we left it poured like crazy. You never know.

It's my favorite time of year !! The weather is usually warm but not too hot. We do have our exceptions. But for the most part it's the best time of year.

OK, Mrs. H, here you go. Keep in mind this report was written for my family and really not for posting on a message board, so it might be kind of boring for others to read. I was also in Vegas this past August, but I didn't write anything. If you have any questions, let me know.

ANNE MARIE & ANTHONY’S SECOND HONEYMOON

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
(October 8 - 13, 2006)

On October 10, 2006, it was our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We decided to take a trip to fabulous Las Vegas to celebrate.

We spent five wonderful nights at the Bellagio. JetBlue came through, once again, with great flights and good service.

We flew very early and arrived at the Bellagio around 10 a.m. and were very happy to hear that our room was ready! We tried the “$20.00” trick to get an upgrade to a suite, but the clerk wouldn’t take the money because she said they were fully booked due to a poker tournament and she couldn’t give us a suite.

She was so nice, though. She left the counter for a minute and returned with an anniversary gift for us. It was package with two Bellagio fragrances for me and two for my husband. That was very sweet and started our stay with the Bellagio off on a good note. Every person that we encountered at the Bellagio was friendly and very efficient. They aimed to please and they succeeded. We were treated like royalty throughout our stay.

(By the way, the $20 trick did work for my husband when he was at Caesar’s Palace in September for a business trip. He was upgraded for free to a much better room than he had originally booked. The $20 trick is not actually a trick, it is more like a bribe or a tip, You put $20 on the counter and ask the clerk if there are any complimentary upgrades available. It worked for us the last time we were in Vegas, when we stayed at Paris. This is a fully acceptable practice and the hotels are aware of it. Money talks in Vegas.)

We had a deluxe, lake-view room on the 27th floor. It was absolutely beautiful and we had a magnificent view of the strip and the Bellagio fountains.

Before we left, we made reservations for the famous Sterling Brunch at Bally’s. When you arrive at the restaurant they have Champaign waiting for you before you are even seated. It was ice cold and yummy! The brunch was delicious with lobster, shrimp, crabs, lamb, filet mignon, many breakfast items, hot dishes, salads and a delicious array of desserts. My husband ate mostly the lobster. I had a lobster, boursin cheese and cognac omelet (their specialty) and a Grand Mariner Crepe, which was outstanding. The waiters were wearing their tuxedos and they always carried my food back from the buffet for me. The service is great and your Champaign glass is NEVER empty.

After we were full and drunk we went back to our room to unpack. The rest of the day is a blur, but I think we took a walk to the Aladdin to buy water for the week (they have a Hawaiian store called ABC, which carries cheap water. It was closer than CVS, so it was easier. I am a BIG water drinker and I didn’t want to spend five bucks a bottle at the Bellagio.) I think we then took a nap, gambled and toured the Bellagio, in order to get acquainted to where everything was. We were too full to have a big dinner, but we stopped at the Café Bellagio for a sandwich before retiring for the night.

On Monday we took a cab to the Wynn to enjoy their buffet breakfast (which, in my opinion, is the best in Vegas). We toured the Wynn, which is an exquisite hotel. After we signed up for their Player’s card, we gambled a bit on the Wheel of Fortune slots and had enough points to get a free breakfast for later on in the week! The Wynn became our favorite place to gamble. We made plenty of friends on the Wheel of Fortune machines and had a great time. I won $300! Later on in the week we also received a free dinner which was very, very good.

After gambling we took a walk to see some of the old casinos. We went to the Stardust, Frontier, Riviera and the Sahara. My husband gave his “contribution” to their casinos. I refuse to gamble any place where I don’t have a player’s card because I want the “comps”.

When we left the Sahara, we took the monorail to the Las Vegas Hilton (which is off the strip) to go visit the Barry Manilow store to buy Amanda a Barry Manilow souvenir.

Then we took the monorail to the Flamingo, where I found an Ethel M chocolate store (yummy!) and we shopped for souvenirs. When we got back to the Bellagio we took a nap and got ready for our evening.

Tonight we are going to see “LOVE” at the Mirage which is the latest Cirque du Soleil show (it opened in June). I never had any interest in seeing any Cirque show. I probably would have fallen asleep during “O”, just like Jack and Janine did! But when LOVE opened, it seemed different from the rest and we decided to take a chance and see it. Here is a description of it:

With LOVE, Cirque du Soleil celebrates the musical legacy of The Beatles :
Born from a personal friendship and mutual admiration between the late George Harrison and Cirque founder Guy Laliberté, LOVE brings the magic of Cirque du Soleil together with the spirit and passion behind the most beloved rock group of all time to create a vivid, intimate and powerful entertainment experience.
LOVE evokes the exuberant and irreverent spirit of The Beatles, as interpreted through the youthful, urban energy of a cast of 60 international artists. Using the master tapes at Abbey Road studios, Sir George Martin and Giles Martin have created a unique soundscape of The Beatles music for LOVE. The custom-built theatre at The Mirage features 360° seating, panoramic video projections and surround sound which will envelop the audience, who will experience The Beatles music like never before...
It was an excellent and wonderful show.

LOVE was spectacular, full of energy from beginning to end! We loved it and we would see it again. We sat next to some people from Queens and they had a 4 year old girl, who was a big Beatle fan! She had a great time, since she knew all the music!

After the show we went to Caesar’s Palace Forum Shops to eat at Il Mulino New York. It was very good, but VERY expensive and my pasta with seafood had some sand in it. When the waiter asked me if anything was wrong, I told him about the sand and he was shocked and said it never happened before. I didn’t say anything else, but, of course it has happened before, it’s just that no one ever mentioned it before. It’s bound to happen with clams and mussels. I really didn’t complain to him and I would have never mentioned it, if he didn’t ask me. So he took my entree off the bill (that was decent of him).

Caesar’s Palace is a very confusing hotel and it took us 45 minutes to get out of there and on to the street! We were full and tired and we couldn’t wait to get back to our hotel and go to sleep. It was a fun and busy day.

On Tuesday we had a free breakfast buffet at Paris (we had a comp from my husband’s Caesar’s Palace player’s card, Caesars and Paris are both owned by Harrah’s). It was delicious. After breakfast we went to the Bellagio pool. It was a little cool (the weather was around 75 – 80 all week, but since it is dry, it feels much cooler). We FROZE at the pool! It was so cold, the lifeguard had on a coat! But we enjoyed our time at the pool anyway.

Since today was our anniversary, we had a special dinner planned at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris. When we were in Paris earlier in the day, we looked at their menu. It looked good, but we just weren’t in the mood for French food. So instead we made a reservation at PRIME Steakhouse in the Bellagio. PRIME has a beautiful dining room and they sat us right by the window so that we could watch the Bellagio fountains. The waiter was a little bit snobby, especially when I wouldn’t let him recommend a wine (the wine list was VERY, VERY expensive, so we were searching for something reasonable. We certainly weren’t going to order a $500 bottle of wine!)

The food was delicious. For appetizer my husband had the Caesar salad and I had the fresh mozzarella with mango and cilantro (an interesting combo, which I found very tasty). We had steaks, of course, with broccolini and truffle mashed potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly. The chef sent out different samples of sauces for the steaks, which we eagerly tested out for him and gave him our opinions. For dessert, Anthony had some type of chocolate thing and I had a berry cobbler with ice cream (they wrote “Happy 25th Anniversary” on the dish, which was very nice of them). After dinner, we went back to our room, changed out of our “dress” clothes and went back to the casino to have some more fun with those Wheel of Fortune machines!

(The next day, my boss called me and she couldn’t believe we cancelled the Eiffel Tower reservation. She had ordered a bottle of wine for us as a surprise anniversary gift! The restaurant called her to tell her we cancelled and, thankfully, they didn’t charge her. Oh, well!)

On Wednesday we went to the Grand Lux in the Venetian for breakfast and then gambled for a while at the Venetian. Then we walked to Harrah’s where we took the monorail to MGM, where we gambled a bit and then we went and visited the Tropicana. From there we walked back to the Bellagio. I don’t remember what we did in the afternoon, but in the evening we went back to the Wynn and had their buffet dinner (for free) and it was delicious. That night we took a nice leisurely walk back to the Bellagio and watched the Bellagio fountains for long time. We really enjoyed it.

Thursday we went back to the Wynn for our last free buffet, we gambled and then walked the strip doing more sightseeing and shopping for hours and hours. We had a great time! One of our favorite sights was a gentleman begging for money with a sign that said “WHY LIE? I NEED BEER”. I don’t know why, but I just thought that was one of the funniest things I ever saw! I didn’t give him money, but I did tell him it was a great sign.

As we passed Bally’s we decided to try to see one more show on our last night. We went into Bally’s and bought tickets for Jubilee (which is a classic Vegas show, complete with showgirls, magicians, etc.). It was Jubilee’s 25th anniversary, also! We saw it 24 years ago, during our 1st Vegas trip.

We then stopped in Paris and had a wonderful late lunch at Mon Ami Gabi (a French bistro right across the street from the Bellagio fountains). I had a wonderful Belgium endive salad with roasted pears, blue cheese and walnuts. Anthony had a duck leg confit & barley salad with spinach. Together with the warm French bread, our dishes were spectacular. The whole ambiance of this restaurant is very pleasant and we had such an enjoyable lunch.

Back to the Bellagio for gambling and some rest before seeing Jubilee. The show was good, but, of course, it was corny. We had fun, though.

We had a 10:30 reservation for Olives, which is in the Bellagio. Olives is owned by the famous chef Todd English. We had eaten in his restaurant in Disney World and it was excellent.

When we first entered the restaurant, there was very loud music playing and it was very confusing. I thought, oh, no, I’m not going to like the atmosphere. But then they brought us outside. I didn’t even know they had outside tables. THE TABLES ARE RIGHT NEXT TO THE BELLAGIO FOUNTAINS!!! It was the most magnificent view we’ve ever had in a restaurant. The fountains go off every fifteen minutes and the beautiful music, along with the roar of the fountains made for a wonderful evening.

Todd English happened to be there and he came out to speak to the people at the next table. He seemed very gracious and he was happy to see all his patrons enjoying themselves.

The service was outstanding and the food was the best we had all week. The served us delicious breads (olive bread) with all types of olives and olive tapenade (sp?).

For appetizer, I had a mouth-watering Proscuitto & Fig Flatbread (Rosemary crust, sweet & sour fig jam, gorgonzola cheese & proscuitto de Parma). I never had anything like it before, and we both thought it was delicious. For my entrée I had Pappardelle (pasta) with lamb shank, exotic mushrooms, mint pesto and some type of cheese. This was the most full-flavored pasta dish I ever had. It was amazing.

My husband had grilled squid and octopus with a vinaigrette of chickpeas, tomatoes, toasted garlic & parsley. Very tasty. For his entrée he had succulent pork chops with fried gnocchi & black olives. For desert we shared some type of ice cream creation. The ambiance at Olives was so unbelievably romantic and serene, we never wanted to leave and we stayed until the restaurant closed.

Off we went to the Bellagio casino to gamble for the last time at our beloved Wheel of Fortune machines. We haven’t really been winning at Bellagio, but suddenly I won $250 dollars and then about 10 minutes later, my husband won $250 also!!! That ended our evening and our trip on a high note.

The next morning we had Bellagio’s breakfast buffet, then we packed up and said goodbye to the Bellagio and Vegas, vowing to return very soon.

It was a wonderful second honeymoon and we really loved being with each other and enjoyed all that Vegas had to offer.

Thanks for reading.
