Virus "crisis" as depicted in political cartoons

Jay Leno has mentioned DCL in his monologue almost every night this week. All the bad press has had its damage... the idea that ships are unhealthy places is going to linger for awhile. Here are some cartoons I've run across this week:

These would actually be kind of funny if we didn't have an emotional attachment to our dear DCL. But since we do... SIGH...

Thanks for posting, I've seen two more, one by Michael Ramirez of the LA Times, depicting a cruise ship ( obiviously Carnival) with the name SS Dysentery. Two people on the bow, one saying "No worrying about air safety, lax security or shoulder fired missiles...this will be the best vacation yet!"
another by Mike Peters...... go to archive and pick Dec 3

I'm with you Dave, normally they would be funny, but.................

Dave,
Thanks for posting them.

I found the Mike Peters cartoon, but the Michael Ramirez cartoon you described isn't in his online collection at the LATimes site.

Isn't that a Carnival Paint job on the funnel?

Yes -- if you change the date to 12/05/02 and press the "Get Image" button.

Thanks for the link. Yes, that's definitely a Carnival paint job.

They are comical but I feel terrible for those who were on board all of these sick ships in recent weeks. Glad I'm not cruising any time soon. Annmarie

Sick Sick Sick.... no pun intended!!!
If we couldn't laugh about it we'd all go crazy...
(working 2 jobs to support my DCL habit)!

Even our local Sunday paper had a cartoon about it on the front page! I have had a lot of people ask me what about all this sickness on cruise ships? Well, it is the season, appears this year is worse than last. It isn't the ships making people sick, it is fellow passengers who come aboard sick and then spread it to others. What about all those people flying home sick? That is also not helping matters but they have to get home somehow. This virus will run it's course, they always do. I am getting tired of the sick cruise ship jokes.Kathy

I found some more...

This one's not targeted at any specific cruise line... there aren't any cruise ships in active service with three funnels.

This one doesn't really criticize the cruise industry... it's a commentary on a recent personnel decision made by the Executive Branch... but it uses the problems in the cruise industry as a reference point.
