Webpage Down Again?

Sick nothing like missing out because DVC told us all at the same time when it would be coming back. I'm selling my CCV points. This is so stupid to play this game.

I have a CCV contract in ROFR right now. Looks like I'll be renting those points out every year. If I wanted to gamble every year I'd go to the casinos.

So if I don't get my room because I can't sit around all day hitting refresh, what is DVC going to do for me? Its starting to get a little ridiculous. They set the rules that the window is 8 am. If 8 am rolls around and nothing happens well there's anarchy. How is that fair to the membership that misses out because Disney just does what they want, when they want?

With all due respect, I don’t think DVC purposely shut down the site. I know of other places who had issues today, and yesterday, including the college where I teach an online course...final paper due yesterday for them so talk about stress...all good now.

These things happen. At one point, we didn’t even have an online booking system and so someone who had an 11 month window open today had to wait until tomorrow,

Yes, it is frustrating when technology doesn’t work but it’s the nature of it. I missed out on my SV room at BLT but got LV.

I don't think they did it on purpose. I understand that things happen. Its technology and it craps out from time to time. But what I can't wrap my head around is why they can't say "Hey our booking tool is down. You can book December 1st 2021 onward starting at 6pm EST. Sorry for the delay.". Is it really that hard to give everyone an equal shot instead of being huddled hitting refresh all day? A level playing field is all I want. I missed out because I had no idea when the window was opening. If I had known and I missed out then that is the way the cookie crumbles but I didn't even have a fair shot.

YES!! I agree with you.

I resent this idea that these things just happen. Ha! Disney/DVC IT is a joke. You should listen to Pete Werner talk about it. Disney/DVC does not invest in getting it working reliably. They just don’t make it a priority. I have been playing this game with them since online booking was first made available many years ago. Today, I spent almost 6 hours doing the refresh thumb dance. So STUPID!!

Well I won't argue with you that it isn't frustrating, but I do disagree with you about the level playing field.I was disappointed like everyone else this morning. We had a late breakfast and took our 4 legged daughter to the beach and when we got back around 1 EST the website was actually back up and we got lucky and booked what we wanted to begin with.
Now if they did say like your scenario 6PM everyone be here to book within 10 minutes the site would be overloaded and c rash again.Just my 2 cents on the matter.

They could give an estimate but people will be upset if you do not fix by that time or if they fix it early. I'm sure this issue wasn't a simple fix or it would have been resolved earlier than 1pm.

Put in a wait list for today and try the rest of your days tomorrow.

For a site that is down for most of the day should not crash again. Why is it our fault that a billion dollar company website can't handle traffic after just getting fixed? Why should we lose out?

Even if it isn't fixed by a promised time how hard is it to just communicate a new time? At least keep members in the know. They have no problem telling us when it's time to collect.

Being a holiday, I am sure that whatever the issue, the staff needed to work on it was small,

We also don’t know if the people involved in the IT fixes have access to everyone’s email address to send out a blanket email vs the message there.

Now, the message could have said X time would be back up, and when things are planned it does. But, I am not sure how one knows how long it will take to fix something until it is fixed? I certainly would not want them to hold off access just so everyone knows a start time,,

Today was my 11 month window as well so I understand the disappointment. And yes, Disney IT is not the best, and does have issues and it would be nice to have more reliable system...although, personally, I have had very few issues with it not working when I need it to,

Just knowing a very minuscule about the tech that goes into running a website - especially one as complex as the DVC site - making a change as "simple" as adjusting the gate time for when reservations can be made/modified likely requires a massive amount of backend changes/coding. On a normal day, a change along those lines is likely incredibly complex, not to mention during a holiday when they're likely running on a skeleton crew and the priority is likely just getting the page up and running.

Also, if they were going to announce a time to "relaunch" the site, my guess would be that they'd simply announce 8:00 am on 12/2 (rather than recode for a new start time on 12/1). And if they did something like that (basically suspended the reservation system for a day), it would have likely compounded the problem with an even greater amount of people flooding the site at once.

Totally get the frustration - we were frustrated too as we tried to make a reservation - but unfortunately there was never a solution that would please everyone. Yes, they technology should absolutely 100% work but today just happened to be the perfect storm of issues - the website crashing during one of the most popular booking windows of the year on a holiday when member services is closed and IT support is likely at a minimum.

I guess then for someone like me with a December use year, I should accept that I will forever have issues trying to book a stay starting December 1 at my 11 month window since that will be always be on January 1. Kind of a drag.
