What did you spend a lot of money on that you ended up hating?

They ran an illegal daycare causing a lot of traffic. I'm not talking about someone keeping a few kids. It was a full fledged school. We tried to talk to them about people who were parking across our driveway (literally) and it just made it worse. A bunch of things happened and the best thing we could do was to move to another neighborhood. We lost about $50000 but it was money well lost lol. I know many lost way more than that in the housing crises.
I too would have moved. Had something similar once.

Knocked a wall down between our kitchen and dining room to make one large kitchen area. I don't hate it but I don't like it now either. I miss the coziness of my former kitchen with a kitchen table and separate dining area. Never use the new dishwasher either. I didn't really want one because I never had one so I wasn't used to using one. Was told over and over how good it is for resale. Well, I don't plan on selling. Really wish I put in a desk instead. Lesson learned. Do what you want for your own happiness, not the happiness of the next buyer.

I can't think of any for me, but I know for my younger sister it would be her previous car that I often referred to as "Satan's Chariot".

Her husband has just left her and her two kids and she had 3 days to find a car that she could afford. Well, this SUV checked out fine, was a little high in payments, but with a few adjustments to her budget she figured she could make it work. Until stuff started breaking...regularly. That thing was constantly in need of repairs for one thing or another and as a used car, there was limited warranty.

After a lot of help, she was finally able to get rid of it.

Yeah, I despise those home remodel shows or other so-called experts who emphasize doing what you don’t like for resale value. Screw them. Do what YOU want, even if you don’t plan to live there forever.

Recently on House Hunters the doofus husband was instructed to say about a skylight “that will be great for resale value.” You haven’t even purchased the damn house yet and you’re already talking about selling it???

All of the appliances in my home! We did a ton of research, spent a lot of money, and we've had nothing but problems. And I have Maytag and Whirlpool. I finally got tired of it and just ordered myself a set of Speed Queen washer and dryer.
We had an appliance repairman who we used over the years and finally heeded his advice and bought a SPEEDQUEEN washer. So far so good!

Supposedly, it's been stated that the open concept is not as popular anymore.

The paint we just put on the outside of our house. We realized about halfway through that we REALLY didn't like the color. It was already bought and paid for and halfway through the labor so no going back. I like it a little better now that all the trim is done, it really looked bad with the dingy, faded trim but I still don't love it. It's just too dark of a color. I'm hoping it will fade a little bit, but we sprung for the good paint so it may take a while.

Also (and I will DIE before I admit this to my husband) - my 2010 Mercedes ML 350. I've put so much money into that car and it is literally the most uncomfortable car to ride in that I've ever had.

Honestly, my last WDW trip this last September. It's not that it wasn't fun in some ways, but it was deadly hot and things were breaking down, and my sister and I were no spring chickens anymore we found out *reallllll* fast when we had to do all the walking. We did some things that were so much fun (Guardians of the Galaxy, Rise), but it didn't outweigh the heat and crowds and the general realization that we weren't feeling it. Very sad, because we love WDW. We're continuing our Sisters' Trips, but now we're weighing other places to go. We think we'll be taking a cruise in 2024.

I always say I can do heat or I can do crowds... but not both at the same time!

We bought my wife a car, MIni One , with the two doors only. A month later she turned out to be pregnant and this car was absolutely not practical when the little one joined us. I could easily spend this money for something good, like buy viagra online or Christmas present for her and parents.

My first house:

I guess it was OK as far as houses go, but so many bad memories in it (mostly because of my ex). It was like you could set foot in the yard and you could feel some kind of negative energy. I was so glad to sell it.

My new Highlander. Just not big enough or utility enough and too much fancy stuff and the black Softex shows everything. Should have held on to the 18yr old van a little longer until used prices start dropping a bit for another van.

Probably my first RV. I should have taken more time to make sure I knew the layout and things I'd want before making the purchase. I learned over time what was important to me and traded it in on one that works perfectly for me. I didn't hate it, but I sure regretted not taking more time to do it right the first time.
