What's really the ideal age to take kids on a Disney Cruise?

We took our DS on his first cruise when he was 9 months old. It was fun, but a lot of work. As for a vacation, it was one of the better ones we could have taken a baby on. Fast forward to 4- the age we took our DD12 on for her first and our DS now 7 for their first real cruise. I believe that is the perfect age. They have been on several since and continue to love it. It is a wonderful family vacation at any age.
