Which good neighbor hotel for one night?

We are going to DL in July and have a room booked at the GC for all of our nights except that last one. We decided to add on one more day and are currently waitlisted at GC for that night. But I want to book a hotel for that night just in case our waitlist doesn't come through. Any suggestions? It will be DH, DD (16) and her friend (16). TIA!

I'm assuming you don't want to move to another Disney hotel for that night and are just looking for something close and reasonably priced?

Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate and Anaheim Carriage Inn are within pretty reasonable walking distance of the parks and have pretty good prices.

I would pick the kids suite at Howard Johnson. It is two connected rooms, one with king bed and bathroom and another room with full-size bunkbed and bathroom. Parking is free. The hotel is across the street from the Matterhorn. You have to walk down Harbor Blvd, so not the Disney bubble, but the walk is about the same in distance as the furthest Disneyland hotel location from the esplanade.

Kings Inn Anaheim has great reviews.. I was able to get a 54.00 a night rate .. 10 minute walk

I like the Tropicana for it's balance between affordable rate and cleanliness / amenities. Plus the location is awesome, they have a small store with an espresso bar, and the hot tub is huge. The Hojo would be my 2nd suggestion, though we have yet to stay there. Some of the Anaheim motels will look quite shabby compared to Disney property, so choose carefully.

I like to check out possibilities on Google Maps and then check prices and reviews directly with the hotel, I find you get the best prices (and any applicable discount for AAA or military, etc) if you book directly with the establishment.

Have fun planning!

This happened to us on our last trip. The only thing that was open was the Desert Inn. It worked as it was quite literally right across the street and a closer walk than Paradise Pier. If you could get DLH or PP, the should move your luggage for you so you don’t have that hassle. We just took our luggage and walked across the esplanade to our new hotel. Sometimes when you have big bags they send a security escort with you. This last time they did not. The Grand Legacy is a little further and there is a Best Western right across as well. They are a culture shock after the GC, but they serve their purpose. I bet if you are on a waitlist, something will open up.

Thank you all. We don't want to pay quite the prices of DLH or PP. I've been looking at the BW Park Place Inn. I'm also considering the Tropicana. It seems to be in the price range we are looking for and close. Our goal is close, clean and reasonable price. I don't know that we will use the pool much as it will be our last day/night and we will want to make the most of that day. But here's to hoping my waitlist comes through at GCV!
