Was just reading about The Waterfront on the seaworld.com site.. Sounds really nice! Has it opened yet - and if so, who has seen it?

Also - we'll be there the first week in December.. What's it like then? Anything special going on?

yes the phase one of the waterfront is open. It is really nice too. It is not too crowded in December except for right around Christmas. They had Norman Rockwell art up as decorations last year and played christmas music through sections of the park.

We were there last week and the waterfront is open. SW also has street performances there at various times during the day, it is really fun

Well, December weather can be like summer or like winter. Early December is still usually shorts and T-shirts weather and you should be able to swim, etc. But the evenings will be cooler so you might want to bring along some long pants, sweatshirts, and jackets.

It has been a few years since we went to SW in December and it was during Christmas Vacation, so was later than your trip. A cold front made it down to Florida that week. It ended up being so cold that we never warmed up all day. We wore thermal hooded sweatshirts and really needed winter coats.

They will probably get the Christmas decorations up around Thanksgiving so you should be able to enjoy that too.

As for the waterfront it has some pretty nice shops and several places to eat. People say the pizza is very good, but we haven't tried it yet. We always eat the BBQ from Smoky Creek Grill. The SeaFire Inn has its menu out front and has entertainment at times. There is a screened in patio near the water. We haven't seen the warf cats do their show yet, but did see some of the street entertainers a couple weeks ago. A lot of kids were in their swimsuits and playing in the wave when it came up and over the rocks. Not sure if that would be an option though in December.
