We are going to Northern CA in June for a romantic getaway and will be visiting Napa and the surrounding areas. Obviously we can't visit them all, although I wouldn't mind trying;) Our schedule is pretty flexible and I would just like to know everyone's favorites and why. Also any bed & breakfast recommendations would be great also. TIA

How many days and nights? Do you like white or red wines? If a weekend getaway, here are a couple

I love for red:
Opus One: http://www.opusonewinery.com/
Duckhorn: http://www.duckhorn.com/
Tudal: http://www.tudalwinery.com (by appointment)

I love for white

Robert Keenan Winery http://www.keenanwinery.com/

there are several located on lodi lane in st. helena (more boutique type with very good wines). if you like champagne a stop at domaine chandon is nice-and right off the highway in yountville. kendall jackson is over in sonoma.

check out the napa convention and visitor's bureau website-they have links and info. on everything napa (just be aware most of the wineries are in yountville, st. helena and calistoga which is considered 'up valley').

if you want to be pampered you might consider doing 'the works' at dr. wilkinson's hot springs in calistoga. it consists of a mud bath, mineral bath, warm blanket wrap finished off with a massage. just be warned-you will be so relaxed you will turn into a puddle following it:thumbsup2 an awsome and often overlooked restaurant (which is a tremendous value) is located in calistoga-the all seasons. it is phenominal and is often included on tours of some of the area's best restaurants. since you are coming in june you might also want to see if mondavi winery is doing any of their concert series when you visit. they get world class entertainers who perform outdoors in a setting surrounded by the vineyards. copia (in napa proper) also does a summer series of entertainment you might want to check into (but honestly, i would'nt do 'julia's kitchen' there-very overpriced and VERY much 'california cuisine'-aka starvation sized servings).

Birkner,

Thanks for the tips. I prefer red and my DH prefers white or sweeter wines, so I try to indulge him. We are going out there for a week, but we are also visiting San Francisco for a couple of days. We also have to visit the Raiders training facility in Napa.

My favorite all time place is V. Sattui. It has an extensive deli, bakery, and gorgeous area to have a picnic. If the weather is nice grab a bite to eat and sit outisde by the flowers or fountain. Sometimes they have gelato or tritip for sale. Normally we just pick out of the case and it is incredible!
