With the DIS Photo Gallery being broken....

....I suggest possibly not following Lisa's suggested web site, the DIS Photo Gallery (for the time being) in her 'Placing a picture in my signature' post here. Seems a good number of people are running into a deadend with a broken web site. A suggested site that many have used is www.imagestation.com. While that site technically does not allow linking, many here have used it without a problem. Another good choice many have used with success is www.worldzone.net. If you upgrade (for annual fee of $12, a bargain in my mind) to a 'Plus' account, you get a lot of storage and permitted linking. Just posting this since so many are having trouble following the steps in the above linked post, and the DIS Photo Gallery site has not worked for quite some time. Just an FYI.

Dan, I have read through all of the posts on the topic, and for the life of me I cannot get my photo to appear in the right size. I had luck getting a full size photo that was too big for the guidelines but it seems that I cannot do anything to reduce the size. Since I have tried reducing it, I have forgotten how I even got the photo to appear in the first place. Any ideas? My head is spinning!

Caryn,

You were SO CLOSE with your photo! I cleaned up the html for your image, you can take a look at your signature to see what I did.

What a great photo of three beautiful girls!

Kathy,
Thank you so much for fixing my problem. I knew that I had to be close but there was no way that I was ever going to get it completely right!

For the future, Caryn, you would want the code to read as such, to make a picture be 400 pixels in height (your file is actually 450)

&#60img height=400 src=http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid129/p2183c79489b7ff3e846a02787c0ce708/f7c9473e.jpg>

You do need to make sure you have one space after the img and one after the size (400 in this case). If you ever want to vary the height, just change the number, or if you wanted to change width on a picture, use width=, just make sure you do not change both at the same time, only one, the other dimension will change proportionately.

And yes, what a pretty picture. :)

And if the code is on two lines here, it is just word warp, you want only those two spaces.

Just another bump to help with the confusion with the DIS photo thing busted for so many months.

After you have uploaded your picture and it tells you it did, look for the button/icon that is the storage bin. Click there. When you see your small picture, click on it to pop up a larger one. That is the one you want to right click on to get the url from.

What a neat picture!!! So cute. I like it. A little one. :)

One more step though. Your picture is a bit too big for the guidelines here, and if you can not make it smaller before you upload it (the best way), you need to make it 'look' smaller. To do that, you need to switch from UBB [] to html <>

It needs to look like this.......

&#60img width=400 src=http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid134/p4c48589aabf09ad6c1896fcf2168788d/f7717e10.jpg>

and then you will get this...........

<img width=400 src=http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid134/p4c48589aabf09ad6c1896fcf2168788d/f7717e10.jpg>
You do need one space after the img and one after the size, 400 here. If the code is on 2 lines, don't pay attention to that, it is just word wrap.

Also, try and make it to the next Chicago DIS meet, if you are nearby, sounds like you are. Check often on the Community and Meet boards.

I can't get this to work! Waaaaa!

Jill, it looks like you are trying to link to a page, instead of to a picture...

Try this:

*Get to a page that has the full size version of your photo.

*Now, RIGHT click with the mouse hovering over the picture.

*Select PROPERTIES.

* Highlight the location in the box that pops up (it ends in .jpg)

Paste that address in your post...

Ok, let's see if this works....

Thanks, Kathy! I hope the picture isn't too big. I tried to change the size.
