WOC desert party

We were a party of 6 for the first show on August 2. We were fairly well back in line for checking in, but they said they had several tables for parties of 6 and asked if we wanted a high or low table (we chose low as we had a disabled guest). We ended up with table 45, which was the farthest-right low table. It wasn't a single table so much as two round tables for 4 pushed together with six chairs around it. It made eating a little awkward but nothing too bad, and was better than our party being split. Here's a picture of our view (a few people ended up standing on the steps right in front of us but we could still see just fine). You can see the two tables at the bottom of the picture. It was a fabulous experience!

That sounds fine! Thanks so much!

Just wanted to give an update! Even being as far back as we were in the check-in line, we had a table with a great view.

We had table 2, and I thought the view was perfect. It was the next to the last table on the left, but it was a high top table in the front row. Table 3 next to us was a low top, so I thought it was odd that they had 2 high top tables in the very front row.

Also, I had read about the glowing sipper cups only being given to kids ages 3-9. I mistakenly told my 10 year old daughter about it, and she wanted one (of course). When our server took our drink order, he asked her how old she was, and she said 10. I didn't even ask him about the cups (and neither did my daughter), but he brought one out for her knowing that she was 10. So not sure if something changed? However, my 13 year old son didn't get one, so who knows.

Here was our view:

What time did you join the line?

Are there any BAD tables at the dessert party? I'd really like to do the second show but with reports of 2nd show people lining up so darn early I'll probably be last in line. I don't want to give up that much of my park time to stand in line. I'll have two 9 year olds with me and I am fairly short myself.

Sorry, this is probably a stupid question.

I have a Dessert Party reservation for 9:15pm on the 26th of September.

Would that be for the first show or second show or is there only one show that night?

If our reservation says 9:15 what time does the actual show start?

That's the second show. 9:15 is the time Disney states to line up and arrive at the party. I would show up earlier than that. The first show is at 9pm.

For the second show, many people line up around 7, and then have to wait until the first show people are checked in, before getting a table assignment. After that, you can leave and then they tell you to return at 9:40 so they can start escorting groups to the viewing area.

We did the dessert party in June and I have no desire to do it again. My view was terrible due not only to the big globe light bulb stand thing, but then a couple of cast members who stood beside it. They kept talking to each other so they were constantly moving their heads and shifting their positions. The desserts were fine...we were a party of eight and each of us liked different items which is pretty good actually...means that nothing was too bad and we all found a couple of different items that we liked. But the constantly moving around CMs...one of them would leave for a minute and I would think that I would finally not have to have my view blocked by the light fixtures and two CMs talking, but then that CM would return and they would turn to each other and start talking again. When people are having a conversation, they are naturally going to move moving their heads back and forth and nodding to one another. I could not see well throughout most of the show. I was severely disappointed and won't pay to get stuck in a chair where I don't have the ability to move to a different spot for a better view. Next time I'll choose to get soaked in front.

We did the 1st show on September 2nd and we loved it.
Yes, it's expensive, especially for a family of 5, like mine.
We had a hard time to find check in podium, which was in front of Grizzly River ride.
We went there at 7:15 PM and there already at least 60 people in front of me.
At around 7:45 PM, they asked for our preference (we chose lower table) and we were escorted (like a school trip line) at 8 PM to the area.
We sat on table 32, the 5 of us, they moved a chair from table 31 so we could all sit together.
The show is beautiful. The desserts didn't impress me much. We don't drink so our drinks were all pops.
We also asked for bottle of waters (1 each) which we took next day to Disneyland :).
Would I do it again? Not sure, it is VERY expensive, but I don't regret having it done.

Planning to book a party for the holiday woc which will be 60 days out next week. Will it be the same party or will it be announced and probably not bookable next week?

Friend is a diabetic, do I need to call once I've got our tickets about noting that? I'm guessing it needs to be done prior to checking in for the party.

This needs to be done at the time or booking or shortly after by calling. The plates are all pre-made so if you wait until check-in it will be too late.

Question- does anyone know why reservations are not showing up after November 5th for the party?

Hmmmmm I believe it’s only 60 days out for dining reservations.
True- but 60 days is 11/8. I was wondering if it’s possible they just didn’t release them yet or that it would be down that week in preparation for Christmas stuff?

Possibly. Also Disney is notorious for not releasing dining exactly the way they are "supposed" to. I would keep checking back.

Thank-you, sounds good! I'll let his Mom know to bring some extra snack, crackers that he can have.
When I was there in June, it was fruit, cheese, and a gluten free brownie type cake with a white chocolate medallion on top. I found myself wishing I had some gf crackers for the cheese.

I'm glad you both posted, b/c we're planning a trip for the first time in forever, and goodness - what a change! I remember writing here about DH's gluten-free plate back in 2016:

"His plate had the same cheeses and grapes, and he got his own bread. None of the sweets were ok for him, so he had blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries with a sweet yogurt dip, a chocolate-dipped strawberry, and some kind of tart (looked like a shortbread-ish base, with chocolate and berries). There was a lot of fruit on that plate, so it wasn't empty like it sort of sounds."

Gosh, I am laughing now that I thought that sounded empty! Now it's one sad little dessert, and not even crackers when it used to have gf bread? Great reminder to keep our expectations really low. sigh.

I really hope that isn't the case. I'm going for the first time, only there for two days and this was at the top of my list.

Would a high or low table be better for kids? My kids will be 4 and 6.
I fear they won't be able to see anything if we don't do the party as they are so small people will just tower over them and they are too big to carry.
