No one offered any suggestions about my problem. Maybe this question is a bit easier. I emailed ebay directly about not being able to get to the list my item page and a nice person wrote me explaining that I had to check the box saying to charge my fees to my cc/debit card. Anybody with knowledge on this one?

Sorry I didn't write sooner!!! I had this EXACT same problem last night!!!!!!! I went to the site map..and, in the middle column there will be a link that says something about select a method for ebay payments....I went to that page, signed up for Direct Pay which comes out of your checking account (just like a debit card really)...gave my bank, checking account number & routing number and it was as easy as that! They changed my ebay payments to direct pay & never requested an update or addition on a credit card again...and, you dont HAVE to have the box checked for credit/debit card payments before you can switch to direct pay..u can do it anytime. Good luck & I really hope this helps you...!!

You also can opt to pay as they bill you. I get the bill and then pay through paypal each time. I don't like things that are automatically paid without my approval or checking the bill.

CPL100 - Check your programs etc and just make sure nothing has been installed on your PC that you don't want. This is how our friend had his identity stolen - he clicked on one of the ebay or paypal (can't remember which but I believe paypal) emails without thinking (we had already had a discussion on not doing this!!!) and what it did do was install a keystroke grabber on his PC. Next day or two they had started listing huge auctions under his name because they could monitor all of his PW's and keystrokes. Since the PC was about 5 years old he just unplugged from the Net and gave it to his kids - bought a new PC and had to change all his info.

I'm not trying to scare you or anyone else but this is one of the reasons you don't ever want to even click on one of the links unless you know it is valid.

Would those auctions be listed in his "My Ebay" section if they were made by someone else with my user id? I have not clicked on one of those things (though have received many) but that scenario is scary!

Is anyone else getting this? I received three emails today (to my FORMER ebay email address) all from different users giving me shipping prices (all to different places), none of which I requested.

Do you think someone is somehow using my id? Why would things be going to my former email addy?

Never reply to an email if you are unsure of who it actually came from. Forward it with full headers to Ebay. It is not a legitimate email.

This may be a silly question. And it's probably one of those questions that's a personal preference, but here goes....

I'm about ready to take the plunge and start selling. I've never bought on ebay, so I'm pretty unfamiliar with the process other than what I've read here. I've been taking pictures and doing research on what similar items are selling for.

Most ads I'm looking at say they don't accept Paypal. Is there a problem with Paypal that makes people not want to use it?

I was thinking that a newby like me would be safer accepting paypal until I gain more confidence, but am wondering if there's something I'm not aware of.

Any thoughts? Thanks for helping me weight the options, you guys are great!

Has anyone had this happen to them??? and...if so, is there anything that can be done about it????

I purchased an item from an ebay seller, giftznmore, the first part of November 2003. I paid immediately, right after the close of the auction, thru PAYPAL. After one month, I still had not received my item so, I sent them an email. I finally got a reply about a week later that simply said "I'll check on that". About a week later, I sent another email again requesting the whereabouts of my item...once again, I had to wait a week and send another email before I got a reply. This one stated that they had some items returned to them & what was my shipping address again & they would check to see if that was one of them. Well...I NEVER heard back from them until my item arrived approximately two weeks later. I left a negative feedback for them due to the inordinate time it took to receive my item (almost two months)..and, for the fact that they never offered any explanation or appology for the delay in shipping. I am an understanding person, if it is explained, I usually dont have a problem with a delay. At any rate, I was checking my feedback rating today & noticed that it was less than 100%...when I looked at my feedbacks, there was a negative feedback on there from this place (giftznmore) saying that I never sent any emails and that they attempted delivery & had to ship twice! That was an outright lie..and, I have the copies of the emails to prove it. At any rate, I now have 99.1% feedback rating and it burns me that this one feedback which was a lie messed my rating up like that. Oh well..sorry I have written such a novel here..but, I was wondering if anyone has had this experience, and if so, what they did about it.

Thanks.

Ooops! We seem to have a difference in your opinion and my other advisor above. I did reply to the email but did not hear anything back. Live and learn I guess.

Summer stuff is going like crazy. I think all the spring breakers are buying it up. I have shorts ending for $5-10 per pair. I grouped tank tops into lots of 2-- selling for $8-15 each group. Not what they were selling for when I started in the middle of last summer. Then I was lucky to pull $3 for a pair of NWT shorts. I just had some NWT capris end for $18. So if you have summer clothing--- get a jump. I think it helps that the stores (at least in our area) have been slow in getting the summer items out. I have noticed an increase just from the weekend though in the stores summer stock.

I do also know I can't get a sweater to sell for more than $1 or 2 now. When they were going really great through most of January. Time to box them up until fall again.

Kilee, are these kids or adults? I have tons of adult clothes, but they never seem to sell well on Ebay. Any suggestions? TIA Sandy

I had some long sleeved one that I never got to listing. I'll try it again next year.

I haven't checked into it yet, but I think E-Bay changed something where you can dispute your feedback and if the parties mutually agree it can be withdrawn. Maybe someone else knows more details?

Sometimes, and this is the part of eBay feedback that bugs me, you can post a neg and they will post one for you out of revenge. Just because of that I NEVER post before they do and if they ask me to report I will tell them so.

The purpose of the feedback SHOULD be to inform customers of the selling or buying habits of a eBay member but sometimes it's used for vindication or opinion. I keep hoping this will change.

Ooops! We seem to have a difference in your opinion and my other advisor above. I did reply to the email but did not hear anything back. Live and learn I guess.

Nor will you. :( The point of those fake emails is to either let that person know you have an Ebay account or most likely to let them know that your email address does exist and they can now add your email address to a list to sell to companies......including porn sites. You should never reply to emails from unknown addresses nor open attachments from unknown addresses. EBay has said these emails are not coming from their site.

That is very strange, and I've never experienced such a thing. I'd be inclined to reply to the emails and try to find out the source of the original inquiry. That's kind of creepy, but is probably an innocent glitch. Please keep us posted!

To find the source of an email open it with full headers. Never assume its innocent.....it's no different than the emails asking for your passwords.

Well, this is one thing (when I'm the buyer especially) that really bothers me. If I correspond well and I pay promptly, my work is done, then I should get positive feedback ASAP after payment is made/received.

I do not think it's fair for a seller to hold back their feedback on a good buyer (prompt payment and good correspondence) because they want to wait and see what feedback the buyer's going to leave them.

That, IMHO, is not fair.

Recently, my DH and I sold a bunch of stuff on ebay. As soon as I received payment, I left feedback. All my buyers left me feedback right after receiving the item. That is how it should be.

ITA with you! That burns me too! If you are the buyer and pay promptly and correspond with them, then positive feedback should be left ASAP PERIOD! There's no excuse for the seller to wait. That really bugs me!

I'm so sorry that happened to you!:(

Crud, this discussion just reminded me I forgot to do feedback on the last round of buyers. :o

I agree thats how it should be but being on ebay for 3 years i am sad to say it is not that way.As a seller i dont leave feedback first and i have found the only ones that are bad about being horrible are new buyers.I have a neutral that says "cool to play with"
and i am thinking and?????What is the point of leaving me a neutral? It is not fair to us as sellers either to get the item out and in the mail promptly and sending a new item.I am sorry but i dont leave feedback first anymore. It goes both ways IMHO!

Yes, it does goes both ways, but your way isn't fair. I've been buying and selling at ebay several years too, and I know it's not always the way it's done, but it should be.

You have a right to do your feedback any way you want but I don't have to agree with you or buy from you.

IMHO, if I buy something and pay instantly with Paypal then I should get my positive feedback ASAP. I lived up to my responsibility. Then as soon as I receive the package, I leave my feedback. That is the fair way. Why should I have to wait for my feedback? I don't understand that. I paid you; give me my feedback. What else do I have to do to get my feedback? Leave you positive feedback? Then I can get my positive feedback?

Here's an example of how unfair this is. My DH bought something and paid instantly with Paypal. No feedback. Horrible seller. No correspondence. Weeks go by. No shipment. No correspondence. Finally after several weeks and no emails from the buyer and no feedback from him for my DH instant payment, the package comes and it's not what was promised and damaged etc... The guy wouldn't help resolve it either. My DH left negative feedback a month after trying to get this item he was promised. Well, of course, this horrible buyer leaves my DH negative feedback just to get back at him. What did my DH do to deserve negative feedback? He paid instantly. Continued correspondence. Was patiently waiting for the package. Tried to get what he paid for. Why should he get negative feedback? Because my DH left negative feedback fairly to warn others, the buyer uses the feedback for revenge against my DH who did NOTHING WRONG. It isn't fair.

If a buyer doesn't give me feedback right after payment and until I leave him feedback, then I would never do business with them again.

Sorry but this is a sore subject to me and I totally disagree with you.:(

Hey, if anyone sells something wholesale, would you mind PMing me some details about it? I know a product that isn't on eBay and every time I've sold one I've made a decent profit, so I was thinking about actually getting a contract with the company. But their website wants my wholesaler's number and info first, which of course I don't have. How hard is it to get a wholesale license, is it worth it, etc, etc...?
