Your doing what for 40th Rachael !?!

Hello all
This post is not disney at all sorry
Some of you know that I have been taking my son to the DR with a problem around his eye for a month we have been given drops antibiotics etc etc.
None would listen to me.
We spent fours hours at a eye hospital to be sent away as the DR on duty had never seen this problem before he said we needed to see a child eye Dr.

Fast forward to last Friday children eye dr said my son needed a MRI scan.
this took 45 min he was so brave cried only a little.
I thought this will show he's been bitten.
The rest is a nightmare that no one should go through I was told that my son had a tumour taken by taxi to another hospital told by specialist that she thought my son had secondary tumour and would need Chemo.
Then sent home as they don't do test on weekends.
Bring him back Monday
I can not tell you what we went through our priest was a great help in this.
My world fell apart
Monday.
Alex has blood test urine test ct scan stomach scan chest X-ray he so brave .ct showed the same as MRI the tumour has damaged the bone under his eye all test other than that clear.
He needed a bi op it this was done yesterday
he was very brave before the op and was in theatre over a hour.
This afternoon I got he news it's not cancer as first thought but they still have no clue as to what it is or any idea how they will get rid of it but he I'll be ok !.
My happiness is overflowing .
I have missed loads of things from this post.
all I care about now is I'm taking my boys to disney I'm going to spoil Alex so much he still has things to go through dr said no school till it's over"
Thank you all for reading x

The dr rang me today to tell his condition is called giant cell melanoma the bio op told them this.
it's very rare the have never seen it before at this hospital.
The dr thinking surgery the best way to treat it but it's so rare he needs research it.
He said the plastic surgeon is ringing me next week as the want the op done ASAP.
my baby will have scars but he will be ok that the most important thing.
I would loved to of moved our trip to onsite but the money mega so booked for next august 8 nights my boys deserves it :lovestruc
X

Thanks for the update Rachael - look at little Alex smiling away in spite of everything - brave boy.

I'm always way more impressed by a doctor who admits he doesn't know the answer but will find out than one who pretends he knows it all but clearly doesn't so sounds like Alex is in good hands. :thumbsup2

I'm sure you are still worried sick hun. Lots of people are thinking about you all and praying things go well. :grouphug:

Great news about the August trip - always good to have another Disney holiday to look forward to.

What a lovely smile - brave boy :thumbsup2 Good that you're getting some answers now and hopefully your mind will be at rest wee bit now too :goodvibes

oh my word what a terrible time you have all been through, i had noticed that you wernt on. You have a real brave wee man there, so glad to hear that all is treatable and he will be ok.
Thoughts and prayers with you all xx

Oh dear God Rach :hug::hug::hug::hug:
Poor Alex, he is such a great boy to be so brave. So pleased it is non cancerous. As a mother I can only imagine what you guys have been through, you must have been up the walls and back down them again. It is reassuring to hear that the doctors are doing their upmost to find the correct expert and its sounds like Alex will be in the best possible hands and the plastic surgeons are so talented now they will be really able to minimise any scarring.
I'll be keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers.
Send love and best wishes
Kiz

Once again a huge thank you too you all :love::love:
We have had a meeting with the dr this week and this thing Alex has there are only 20 record cases since 1994 non in a child it's very rare but not at all life threatening :).
They are going to look at him again in 2 weeks as my DH wasnt happy about the op he needs to get his head round it.
It's a lot bigger surgery than he thought it would be I told the dr about our trip and as long as the thing doesn't grow at the rate it was before we are fine to go.
I was so happy when they told me they will let him have his holiday then do the op when where back.
This trips been planned for 13 mths kind of a big deal !

To top things off something was said the other day about the trip that's left a bad felling's and a very bad taste in my mouth Im feel humiliated too.
My emotions are on a high anyway.
I really wish I hadn't booked it.
All this and only 29 sleeps.
Hope you are all well xxxx

Glad you're getting answers for Alex!! You can play up the fact with him that he's very unique and special having something so rare! ;) Seriously though, sounds like you're on the right track to getting it sorted!

Who's said what about your trip?!?!?!?! How dare anyone judge anyone on their choice of holiday! What's wrong with people?! Ignore them. Easier said than done I know.

Thank you !!
They seem happy that the op will sort it I know 20 cases it's mad isn't it !
None in a child he had lots pics taken and I've signed stuff to say he can go in the medical dictionary.

I've sent you a message as I don't want to talk on the forum ;)
Xx

Rachael, totally agree with C. How dare anyone criticise your holiday choice - you clearly are passionate about giving your kids quality Disney time and whoever is criticising that is probably jealous.

Wow, that is some odds poor wee Alex having something so rare - that will be a great story for him to tell his grandchildren! Great that you are making progress and I'm not at all surprised it's hard for DH to get his head round - such a huge responsibility for you all.

Lots more :grouphug: and prayers. xxx

Well what a great escape this trip will be for you all. And you will come back with lovely memories to get you through the op. Alex sounds like such a brave boy, he will do great.
It has to be so much for you both to take in and you have to be so courageous in front of the children. I think sometimes men doesn't don't do so good with the tough stuff that life throws at you but its good that your DH is voicing his fears and you can talk it all through.
Lots of love from across the water

20 cases - Wow, I can see why your OH needs some time to get things clear in his head, its a hell of a lot to take in. It sounds as though. The medical team have done a lot of research and its good to hear they're so positive. You've put so much into your holiday you have every right to go and enjoy it, if anyone has a problem with that, its their problem don't let them make it yours. Xxx

Glad so hear some progress Rachel. It sounds like Alex will get proper attention now :)

And just ignore anyone not happy with our holiday choice ;) I get the rolling eyes too when people hear we're going to DLP again. You know your own family and what makes them happy, really this trip probably couldn't have come at a better time, to give you something really happy to keep focused on.

Big hugs to you all

So glad to hear positive news and as for the negative just forget it you have an amazing trip planned and I think its just what the doctor ordered for you all right now......... :)
