Things Disney Offers But Doesn't Advertise *Summary Added Oct 08*

I need to come back to this thread! And take notes.

Magic Kingdom - Get a milkshake (ok so its not free but still) at Pinnoccio Village Haus, and check out the cool, dishwasher safe cup it comes in. We use them at home and LOVE THEM

Paintbrushes were mentioned...Waking up Tinkerbelle mentioned,

Oh. Be at toontown around 9:45. (15 min early, cuz the guests LINE UP) And your child might be chosen to 'open toontown' hand in hand with the mouse himself.

Go into (and I mean deep into) Exposition Hall. If you follow it around it will put you into a large, lit movie theatre with Mickey Mouse cartoons running all day, and cool cardboard cutouts to pose with. Its almost always completley empty.

MGM -

If youve taken the animation tour before, and dont want to do it again, you can enter the 'play area' through the Animation Gallery store. Where you can play on the computers they have, Meet the Meet the Robinsons and The Increidbles characters and do the free drawing class.

I know most people hate sounds dangerous. I do. But the 'play room' they exit you into is pretty cool. Again, dont ride Sounds Dangerous, just enter through the shiny automatic doors to the right of the entrance. You can learn to make sound effects, Do a voice over on a movie, and then one of my favorite things ever. You can go into one of the dark sound booths and put on the head phones to listen to... well. IM not gonna ruin it. Just do it. Its reaally, really cool imo.

Volunteer for the backstage tour or the indiana stunt show. And dont just put your hand into the hair. Stand up, jump up and down and yell PICK ME. They love that. And they'll pick you.

Epcot - The House of the Future in Innovations is really neat and often overlooked.

Animal Kingdom - Take time to talk to the people who work there. They are full of interesting stories, and facts. Animal Kingdom is my favorite slow down park.

The buses - Ask the bus driver if they have any of the tradeable bus cards! Theyre so cute! And I almost have an entire set.

Thats all ive got for now!

Ladies-How much would you pay for a one hour massage with Captain Jack?!? lol I'm not sure I could put a price on that.... :)

Remember, please, this is a family friendly forum.
You're starting to cross the line into another realm.

It is too funny though!

I loved the place at Epcot (Futureworld) where you can take a photo of yourself and "morph" it into something else. I (of course) made myself into a cat and e-mailed it to friends. It's free!

Can't remember the name of the place, but it's by the ride with Figment.

Last month I got a diver to hold up an anniversary sign and a personalized menu for FREE at Coral Reef. My dh was even more excited about it than I thought he would be.

Also, one day at Epcot, there were two cm's standing outside a fence in Canada/UK yelling for one more little girl to come have tea with Alice. I yelled "I have one" and they gave us a cute little invitation to have tea with Alice only of course my dd decided she couldn't go because the white rabbit might be there and she is terrified of "head characters". I was sooooo bummed. But I figured it was crossing a line to force her to have tea with Alice so I could go! Anyone know if they do this regularly of if it was part of the flower and garden thing?

I like this thread! I've even picked up some things I didn't know about!

A couple of mine:

-Animal Kingdom Lodge offers several free programs that are really geared at adults and older children: They give a guided tour of the hotel's African art collection at 2 PM, a Culinary Tour of Africa at 4 (in which you get to meet the chefs at Jiko and Boma, and eat free samples! Great if you want to learn more about the food before you actually eat there), and a Cultural Safari at 9 PM led by an African cast member, who tells you about their homeland.

-Wilderness Lodge has a free tour Wednesdays-Sundays at 9 AM, that tells you how the hotel was built and a little about the architecture. Ranger Stan is a fountain of Disney knowledge!

-If you're a Walt Disney buff, go to the Iron Spike Room at the Wilderness Lodge villas. There, they have two train cars from Walt's personal backyard railroad.

-Get to the MK early, by 8:40 AM, to see the Opening Ceremony. This is not advertised in any of Disney's materials that I've seen--it is a very Disney way to start your day. Also, there are many Streetmosphere characters that wander around Main Street during the day--they are never advertised. One day the Mayor sat down right next to us at Casey's and started talking to us about how he was running for reelection. Many times you will run into the Dapper Dans, riding in the back of the first horse-drawn trolleys of the morning and serenading the passengers.

-Get a hot dog and listen to the ragtime pianist at Casey's Corner.

Anyone know if they do this regularly of if it was part of the flower and garden thing?

part of the F&G festival, although Alice herself sometimes makes appearances in the UK pavilion

Great thread!
Has anyone done the Chip N Dale singalong/ "drive in " movie at Ft. Wilderness? Sounds like fun!popcorn::

This is held every night at FW(a list of the movies for the month is in a sticky on the camping forum). In the "summer" it starts at 8pm with a sing-along and lighting of big fires for toasting marshmellows. Chip and Dale will come and visit before the movie starts(about 8:45). You can bring your own snack(including makings for smores) or purchase items at the small Chuck Wagon. In addition to marshmellows people also bring along hot dog to cook and make a night out of it. People wander about and talk(quietly most of the time) through the movie so it is a great place for small kids to get their first taste of going to the movies without bothering others.

You can have a personal guide at any of the parks. I've seen them before, in their cute little plaid skirts and caps. I believe it is about $150 an hour, with a minimum of six hours. You have a personal escort, who will also get you fastpasses and help plan your day (it's NOT an automatic front of the line service) but I think you do get special reserved seating for shows and parades. I'd like to do this once!!!

We did Alice's Tea Party on Easter. It was great. They had a looooong table set up with cups, plates, etc. Each child got some lemonade and a cookie and were visited by Alice, Tweedle Dee and Dum, and the Mad Hatter. (I think the rabbit was there, too). They made their rounds around the table and were available for a group photo at the end. I think the kids got certificates, too.

Hi,
still new to this board but been to disney too many times to mention. Heading down to WDW next week with my DS (12) for a little one on one time. Never done this before. Leaving the DH and DD (13) home. DD has been to WDW 3x in the last year without DS due to cheer competition so it's payback time for the DS.
I have not been on Tom Sawyer island for the last few visits being only DD was with me. What is this with the paintbrushes? Where are they hidden, ( I don't mean EXACTLY where but are they ANYWHERE?) Do you get a fastpass for a ride as a reward? Will the CMs on the island give you info if you ask about it? Any info would be appreciated. I think DS would really enjoy the hunt! thanks in advance!
