CHUCK & VICKI

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

25 years and still countin!!!!

Congratulations!!!

Here's some pics from tonight. It was Stephanie's preschool graduation. Click to enlarge

You both look wonderful. What a happy day!!

I really need to go to bed! The meeting went will yesterday or um...Monday as it's already Wednesday now...I will post more details later.

Just a real quick update on my Mom. She has finally started participating in activities at the nursing home even a few "field trips". She's even putting on lipstick which is HUGE as she wasn't getting out of bed or dressed. Seems there is a new male resident.:rotfl: We are all so happy that she's finally participating in life again! She looks so much better too!
That's great news

Great News! I just got off the phone & Butch is awake :cool1:

He has been taken off the resporater & knows who is wife & grandson are. Hopefully it will be uphill from now! He is not 100% yet, but I think he will get there. Thank you all for the prayers & thoughts :goodvibes
That is incredible. I hope he continues to improve!!

My computer was acting Wonky this morning so I decided to tie dye. I got 5 Mickey Shirts in plastic baggies waiting for time to pass :rolleyes1 I also did 2 royal blue tie dye shirts as I couldn't buy royal blue shirts for women :confused3 While I was tied up with that :rotfl: I got a ding and didn't know it. Well it was the one that I needed to book airfare for my mother. By the time I noticed it there was only 30 minutes left to book and her phone was busy :scared: I finally got through and managed to book her flights with just a couple minutes to spare :woohoo: She will be flying into Orlando Very late on Friday Aug 3rd and she'll fly back with us on Aug 12th. Her tickets ended up being $3 cheaper than ours and those were DING fares. I guess I got a good deal originally.

Now I can add her to the reservations and buy her tickets, make her shirts etc.

Deb

I kept repeating myself, because I was basically speechless. How do you not invite parents to the 8th grade (last year of middle school) awards assembly?! I haven't seen any misbehaving parents at previous awards ceremonies. Do you think that I'm being too controlling a parent or unreasonable to think that there should be parents invited to this? Should we not be allowed to celebrate our children's successes with them?

ETA: I should also add that there is no moving up ceremony for these kids, so this awards night was the last big night before heading to high school. The kids have a social dance (which I would never dream of wanting an invitation to as a parent), but there is nothing else to celebrate their move into high school.

That is just bizarre, Beth. I agree with Deb, that you have every right to attend as a parent and taxpayer. I can't fathom that they would be run over with parents, particularly since the ceremony will take place during the day.

Thanks, Deb, and you are so right. I thought my world was coming to an end, and it did for awhile. But like the song says.....If you're going through h*** keep on going....which is what I had to do. Now I've met someone wonderful who treats me good. So I'm going to ride the wave and see where it takes us. Last night he and I were talking and I made the comment about how my children are always asking if he is coming over and that they have taken to him quite well. His response was 'maybe it's because they see that I make their mom happy.' Ok, I know that is sappy, but it made me realize that even my kids must see the difference in me. Sorry to go on and on, but I just wanted to share that.

He sounds so great, Tammi! :cloud9:

Maybe, he's seeing if he can work it out with his xw. It just so happens that she is planning to go on a cruise in October  so he needs to see if he can work the dates out.

I hope he gets to go!

Although God help the man who will be surrounded by the DDA on his first trip to WDW! :rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: ;)

I got the message and Bob and I are very excited, Chanon... thanks! For those who are wondering... Chanon has been helping us make all our arrangements for the California trip. Not only do we not have an ADR number for our Napa Rose reservation but there is no deposit needed to hold our room at the Grand Californian! Very different, indeed! :confused3

Yes - I remember panicking that I couldn't make my reservations as far in advance as we're used to at WDW. I think one of the things I liked most about DL was the spontaniety of the character interaction - it reminds me of how WDW was when I was a kid. Characters just wander the streets, handle those who want to meet them themselves, etc. Mickey was the only one we ever saw with a handler.

He had a tough subject....not very easy to get behind and support.

I agree. Congrats to him for just making it through without getting lynched! ;) :rotfl2:

ooo before i leave..i just had to print out an unofficial transcript and i noticed they had updated my GPA..so my final gpa for college is 3.506..i thought that was pretty good so i had to share!

That is great, and definitely something to be proud of!

Yep and a Segway tour. Not sure if it is in the inner harbor or not though, but I think it is. I haven't been to Baltimore for several years, last time I was there I was in High school and I did a behind the scenes tour at the aquarium and we got to go on the walkway over the open shark tank.:thumbsup2 I want to do the shark encounter at Sea World where you are put into the cage with the sharks someday.:thumbsup2 I know some of you probably think I am nuts, doesn't matter I already know I am.

Becky, you and Jonathan should meet. His dream is to swim with sharks. He plans on doing a shark dive when we're in Nassau with DCL, and wants to go cage-diving with Great Whites off some island on the California coast. :scared1: And the thing is, I don't know if I can talk him out of it.

I really like it and I think it would work with a chocolate color dress. But the rust color calla lilies would look great too!

:thumbsup2 I love chocolate brown!

I have an acute sinus infection and an upper respiratory infectio

She gave me some pills for the infection and also a cough syrup with codeine since the coughing is keeping me awake

Yuck, Jen. Hope you're feeling better today.

Evening all.
Had a great day @ Epcot Sunday.
Post pictures later.
Hope you all are doing good.

Glad to hear you had a good time at Epcot!

So my new neighbors are going to be a problem, the ones that lost the kittens and left the dog in the backyard for four days. They now have a new puppy. And even though we are in drought conditions and are under a burn ban, we go out in the backyard and they have a fire burning in the backyard that the flames are at least 10 feet high :scared1: , are they STUPID or what? I'm trying my best not to get into a fued with the neighbors so instead of calling the police with a complaint I put the sprinkler out to wet down the yard and our fence, do they not know that sparks can become airborn and spread fire?

Debbie, you are a much more understanding neighbor than me. I would have been on the phone to the fire dept. without a 2nd thought! I hope they get their act together!

So Jim needs all of your prayers....he asked for more responsibility so I gave him the responsibility of making the reservations (that we've already payed for) for our first part of the trip......at the same time I did our Disney reservations....I asked him today to make sure he made reservations....he can't even find the paperwork :scared1: and no reservations have been made.

He tells me this after I had an icky, no good, just plain rotten day!!

:scared1:

So sad your day stunk.

Great News! I just got off the phone & Butch is awake :cool1:

He has been taken off the resporater & knows who is wife & grandson are. Hopefully it will be uphill from now! He is not 100% yet, but I think he will get there. Thank you all for the prayers & thoughts :goodvibes

That's fantastic!

Elizabeth - sounds as if you need to make Brother and Sister take those naps for your own sanity. What have you got to lose? Their parents are soon to be former employers! ;)

Well said Elin, I agree.

Deb

You make me tired just reading about your days. Congratulations on the airfare. I can't wait to see pictures of your new shirts.

All this talk about ADR's I guess I had better get it in gear and complete ours for November.

Congratulations on the new ticker Tammi

I drove by your house tonight, Elin, on my way to Brown Circle to look at a house that is for sale. I saw Bob sitting out on the porch. Actually there were a couple back there that I wanted to see 'in person'. The other was on the cul de sac on Donna Dale. Then I was across the road in Blythedale.

I guess you're looking at moving? I hope you can find something so you don't have to move schools!

Terry - loved Chuckie's Travelog :)

Me, too!:thumbsup2

Funny! I make Kevin do his own packing. Heck, I make Kevin do his own laundry!

Now, here's a woman after my own heart! :rotfl2:

Works the same way in my house, too, Amy!

Hey everyone-i just talked to jennifer (bear) to let her know we were thinking about her ..
She said she has been busy at work and not sleeping well

I'm so glad to hear she's okay, even if she's busy and not sleeping well!

So last night I was positive about this job, however I am no longer quite so positive. The more I looked at this job and potential locations for any of the 5 positions, the more it is looking like I will definitely need to move in order to take any of these positions and it might not be for me. Any of these positions would be like a minimum of an hour commute without traffic. Add traffic and it suddenly increases to about an hour and a half or longer depending on location. Lets just say a 3-4 hour daily commute is not what I would like. I need to research all of these areas more to see about potentially moving to these places. Did I mention they told me they would like to have a decision for these positions by Friday.

Plus another negative is I most likely will not get to work with the girls very much and instead will be working with adults. Plus I would no longer be eligible to volunteer, which is what I pretty much figured. This is not a major deal but something for me to contemplate.

I did talk to the interviewer more today and she discussed with more about the job and the possibility of the two other locations. Still no talks about salary, benefits or anything of that sort. So not sure how I can say if I am interested considering those factors may automatically make me decide this is not for me. As if I don't move I may go broke buying gas, but I might not be able to afford the areas in which I would potentially be moving if I were to decide to take any of the jobs. Everything is pretty much speculation though at this point.

I guess all I can say for now is tell them I am interested in any of the 5 positions and just go from there. The positions are the same just at different locations.

I'm off to bed to hopefully sleep and not spend all night in bed just thinking about this.

Hope everyone had a great day. Thank you for listening to me try and figure out this whole thing.

That's a lot to consider, Becky, and I can understand your feelings. I don't think there's anything wrong with asking questions re: salary and benefits, particularly if there won't be a second interview. That's pretty common practice (and I work on the employment side). The only time I ever think it is just too forward is before you've even offered the opportunity to interview to someone.

I rented a stroller for Emma when she was 11 months old and a full size crib. I also brought a double MacLaren umbrella stroller for Joe (his 3rd birthday trip) and Lizzy (4). Everyone on the Dis raved about that stroller but it just didn't work well for me. Mostly because Emma wanted nothing to do with sitting next to a sibling. That was the only trip that stroller ever went on. I recently sold it to a friend. We rented a car but you still need to take the tram from the parking lot. It was tough getting into the tram with 3 small kids and 2 strollers. The next time we used ABBF we just got a toddler bed.

I am very undecided about what to do for a stroller this year. I think I'm leaning toward just renting at the parks. I know it's the most expensive option but it will be the easiest. No struggling with it at the airport or buses and the rentals are so easy to push. We are planning on going to the parks early and then taking a break. I’m hoping we wouldn’t need it everyday.

They do sell an umbrella stroller with a small canopy at the stroller rental stands. I think they are about $40 and they look kinda nice.

I’ll email you my autograph file when I make it a little better. Looks like I won’t get around to that until this weekend. I did it in Microsoft Word so all you have to do is print them out onto blank 4x6 index cards.

Thanks for the feedback, Bernadette, and for your willingness to share your autograph pages with me. That's good to know that WDW sells the simple umbrella strollers, too. If my BIL and SIL were renting a car, I was just going to recommend that they stop by Wal-Mart or Target and buy a cheap one if they don't want to rent. However, they don't plan on renting a car, and I know if we were to offer to go to the store for them, it would be downhill with the rest of the family wanting errands run, so we're just going to leave it in their hands.

Here's some pics from tonight. It was Stephanie's preschool graduation.

She is so precious, Kelli!

MY DH is the so clueless. Last August on day 5 of our trip I left him at MK with Lizzy, my girlfriend from FL and her DD. I knew the girls wanted to spend more time together but Joe & Emma were getting cranky. I figured he couldn't handle a cranky Joe & Emma so I took them back to the resort. A few hours later he called. He had been waiting for a bus for an hour but couldn't remember the name of our resort. :confused3 I still don't know he waited an hour to call. I'll have to right it on his arm with a sharpie the next trip. He'll be all messed up. Last year we stayed at POFQ but he couldn't figure out the PO was in the name of 2 resorts. This year we'll be at POR and he'll be hopeless.

SO....now that everyone has put my bus fears to rest anyone have any comforting words for me not to worry about this being the first trip for just the 5 of us? I've always had my girlfriend with me. It will be me alone with the 4 kids.:rotfl:

Oh, my....Good Luck!!!

I really need to go to bed! The meeting went will yesterday or um...Monday as it's already Wednesday now...I will post more details later.

Vicki & Chuck,
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!!!!

Ditto from me!

Guess what!!!!!

Tammi's going in December, Tammi's going in December!

I must admit, I'm a little jealous that you'll be getting to try out AKV, but so glad you got in. Did they say what the std. view will entail? What are your dates? (From your ticker, I'm betting that we'll just miss each other.)

You'll have to bring back lots of pics!

Lindsay and Elizabeth -- so, have the mosquitoes carried you off yet? I swear they are swarning worse than love bugs! Between the mold/fungus count due to rain and the mosquitoes, I'm ready to pull my hair out!

Have a great day, DDA!

Yes, I definitely think we're in for it this year! I hate the little boogers!

Oh and I also made my LTT ADR for MVMCP on the 11th.

Lots of good news for you today!

Congrats on the Christmas trip, Tammi! I just checked airfare again and it is still $438 per person so we are still staying home! But it is also that price for January, which I feel pretty sure will come down when SW releases their next chunk of rates.

Elizabeth, I would bet that airfare will come down early next month when SWA is likely to release its schedule into December. We already have 2 awards tickets set aside to use for our trip, and in looking at the airfare prices, I've been thankful every day that I do! But it seems like it always goes down by the end of the summer, so I wouldn't count yourself out just yet.

Today is D-Day. If you know a Veteran please say Thank You.

Thanks for the reminder, Heidi. A big thank you to our service men and women, present and past.

If my memory is right our birthdays are on the same day, the 25th!

Your memory is right!

Well, my day has been a disaster!:headache: Brother has been a demon today. We left for the movies about 10:15 and got to the theater around 10:35 or so. Sold out! So we were way up north and had absolutely NO back-up plan. The girl at the theater said they are selling out every morning because the daycares buy all the tickets for field trips. Perfect. If they are going to allow sell-outs on group sales then they need to take the times OFF the website so families like the DOZENS we saw turned away won't waste their time.

Since we had nothing better to do we stopped by the mall. Not our usual mall, another mall, where they have nothing interesting for kids. Brother refused to sit properly in his stroller, so I put the shoulder straps on him, which made him throw a screaming fit. He screamed all the way to the car. So we left and came back home. DH picked up DS, I fed brother & Sister some lunch, and now Brother is taking a nap. He has been having a meltdown every single day between 11 AM - noon, then about 3 PM he is so tired he gets violent. Some battles are simply not worth it.

:scared1:

You should have driven by to see if there was a Dunkin Donuts. ;)

Great News! I just got off the phone & Butch is awake :cool1:

He has been taken off the resporater & knows who is wife & grandson are. Hopefully it will be uphill from now! He is not 100% yet, but I think he will get there. Thank you all for the prayers & thoughts

Oh, that is such wonderful news! I'll keep praying for his recovery, but how excited his family must be!

It has been a fun couple of days so far, thanks! As for Kathrin's employer... it is hard to explain since their niche in marketing is very specialized. So, I quote from their website: Royall & Company is made up of some 200 professionals who are exclusively focused on full-time, first-time, traditional-age undergraduate student recruitment. Now, aren't you glad you asked... ;)

Ummmm....;)

Glad you're enjoying your time off!

Elizabeth - sounds as if you need to make Brother and Sister take those naps for your own sanity. What have you got to lose? Their parents are soon to be former employers!

Excellent point, Elin!

Deb

Congrats on the shirts - and the DING fare! That is very exciting!

I also just got a sale notice to get me and Jonathan a flight to MO over Labor Day weekend for his grandmother's 90th b-day. Flights have been almost $400 a piece (for an hour and a half flight! ), but I just booked for $200 each. This will be so much better than driving 18 hours roundtrip!

Of course, I would rather the tickets be to MCO, and not MO, but I digress...

Janet - Yay for Butch waking up! I hope his condition continues to improve!

Elin - I let Brother sleep for just about an hour. It definitely helped. I let Sister stay up because the boys weren't around to harrass her and she has been pretty good today. We just got back from the liberry. We also stopped for ice cream. I really like ice cream, and Brother & Sister each ate every bit of their ice cream, too!:)

Lindsay - I thought about looking for the Dunkin' Donuts. If it had just been DS & me I would have done that, but Brother was NOT cooperating! Yay for double digits! I think we are at 70 days. It might be 71.

I just got an e-mail about a special event for AP holders on July 13 at MGM to celebrate the anniversary of ToT. That sounds fun, but there is no way we can be there for it!:headache:

I can't remember when I bought our December airfare last year. I guess I could book at Pop on a AAA room only and just watch AP rates and airfare. Hmm.:scratchin

Tammi, you got AKV! Congratulations! I didn't even get to call. There was just no way I could squeeze in that phone call... I'm having one of those weeks where you think "tomorrow CAN'T be worse, and then it is  " (Nothing big, just one thing after another). Congratulations!

Congratulations on getting your mothers airfare! :cool1:

So, in more of a description of what Kathrin's company does... they market colleges and universities to incoming students. Remember when you used to get letters from the Dean saying they hoped you would consider their school for your education? Well, now a lot of that kind of marketing is done online and aimed from Kathrin's company instead of the admissions departments. She writes all the letters and copy for the applications and advertising used to market schools. Her company also developed the patent-pending online Fast Application many colleges and universities now use. Some of their clients are Columbia, Tulane, Hampden-Sydney College, Universitry of Minnesota, Duke, Fordham, U of Chicago, U of Vermont. Is that easier to understand now? I told you they were a very unique marketing company!

New update on Aidan.

Well Aidan is still fighting on. They found out the infection had not entered his blood stream, but was in one of the two lines. So he will stay on antibiotics just to be safe, but it looks like he was protected quite well. They are working him back up again on his feeds and hopefully he will take back to the bottle. Over the last few days he hasn't been very successful with it.

They also had to up his heart medication, but he is handling that as well like a champ.

It is with a sad heart, that we also recognize Aidan's big brother today. Griffin Caleb would have been Six Years old today, if not taken to heaven on the day of his birth. So Griffin, we ask that you continue to watch over your little brother and put a good word in for him, so he can come home soon!

Thanks for the update Tom! Adian has been through so much, I hope he gets to go home soon

Ugh! How many more days? ;)

So a little before Christmas time my darling Abi got into collecting Littlest Pet Shop items....really into collecting. Well, it is way to easy for this mom to become addicted. :rotfl2: I go into the Family Dollar down the street about once a week to see if they have any she doesn't have. I was excited today to find a ferret and blushing duck....:rotfl2: ....I need a life!!:lmao:

:rotfl2:

You both look wonderful. What a happy day!!

Thanks, but that's her teacher. :rotfl:

Yay! I must install that ding on here!

Yippee - just noticed that I'm in double digits for my Sept. trip!
:cool1:

I have been busy around the house today!

DW's B-day is Friday and I had asked what she wanted for her birthday.

She said that she wanted the new curtains hung in the bedroom, and the house cleaned. So I got the new curtains up, washed the windows inside and out, and dusted and cleaned everything (in the bedroom). At least that room now looks presentable!;) Now, I need that little cleaning fairy to come in and do the rest:rolleyes1

I told Leighanna that she has to at least make and attempt to clean up her room too. She told me that she would like to but the Devil keeps telling her not to. Ugh! Where did she hear that from?:confused3 I guess I need to monitor her cartoon watching a little more closely!
