OH MY GOODNESS!

I FOUND IT!!!!

Ok, I just said a prayer to Jehovah to please help me find my ring, and I went into my bathroom, pulled open the drawer, and there it was! I have NO idea at all how it got in there! I would think if Brian found it he would have told me?? :confused3

I think another prayer is in order!

I'm so happy!!!

I am so happy that you found it too! I lost my wedding ring in my closet once. It was in my hand and just fell out into the depths of my shoes. It took weeks to find (not that I have THAT many shoes). I just couldn't find it.

My mom lost hers once when we were little. She kept it in the same place when she took it off, but it wasn't there. She had us all up looking for it late at night and she was just in tears. We eventually went to bed discouraged. My dad stayed up to watch some TV before bed. He turned it on but the picture was a mess (it was one of those old floor TV console things). He opened the panel on the side to adjust the picture and the ring was hanging on an adjustment know. My sister had taken the ring, messed with the TV and just left it there. Yeah, she got in A LOT of trouble!

TOM- I love that dress. I think it is PERFECT! I love the little accents on the side. Great job. Is this the one that we will get to see in person?

Here is the one I finished last night.

Adorable!

Here are my two ideas for the MAW skirt. I will post pictures of the fabric in just a second.

The ideas are this:
1. Pink dot base with square panels cut out and edges finished. Then sewn onto base skirt. ?, how to finish edges of princess panels.
2. Sew complete panels onto pink dot base.

I have a white top and bought a large blue Cinderella princess iron on applique. I also want to use the ribbon to add trip to the shirt but don't have any creative ideas.
I like the 2nd one but both are cute. Seeing what Cindee just made great minds think alike huh?

Hi everyone. I posted on the first page of this thread and swore I was going to keep up this time. However, life got in the way again, and my youngest and I were diagnosed with pneumonia right and my oldest also got sick. We have been through 3 courses of anti-biotics and just couldn't seem to completely recover. I have been on sporadically and have tried to keep up with some of my smaller (and less active) boards, but I just couldn't manage this one. I have gotten some sewing done though, so all was not lost.

I have loved the things I've seen on here though when I've been able to lurk, and I hope to keep up again. Ugh!!! we'll see if I can manage till at least the end of the thread.
Oh my! I am glad you all are feeling better.

I'm a terrible snow mom. I usually wait for my husband to take them out to play. I can't believe we're getting so much snow now. Ugh, I don't want to deal with it at all. DH is in London, and it's not going to shovel itself.
Nope you aren't I do the same thing! I told DH when he moved me to IL that I was NOT going outside to play in the snow with the kids I will happily sit inside sipping my coffee or hot coco and watch them freeze their butts off!
I am not sure if I asked you thins but where in IL are you? I am up in Woodstock. If you already told me sorry for asking again. Please consider it a blonde moment again! LOL
Okay I have figured out that I need to get either a Singer or a Brother, however, I have come across a few "computerized" machines, and I am wondering if I should get one of those (as they have been on sale/clearanced) , and they are not much more than the basic machines that do not have this. Would the computerized be easier for me to use?

I am just so out of my element and don't know what I should be looking for. If it helps, the last time that I tried sewing something was in 8th grade home economics class...my final project went like this..

Me "Mom , I made this for you"

Mom "Oh..sweetheart, it's a little stuffed animal, a monster right?"

Me " No, it's a throw pillow for your bed"

Thus ended my adventures in sewing....

HELP!!!
I love my brother innov-is 40d! Defiantly go computerized.

Yesterday when I was out I drove past a warehouse type building that said fabric outlet open to the public, I had seen it before nut never had time to stop. I had a little time so I thought I would check it out! I walked in and nearly fainted! :cloud9: I got all tingly. It was the most fabric I had ever seen!! I looked around and found some fabrics I had never seen before. They had chip and dale cotton knit, Incredibles flannel, some many my wallet was spinning!! There were many I had seen before and wish I had boughten and then never seen again! You cut everything yourself and then put it back. AND it is all cheap like $2.50 to $3.50 a yard!! It's like a treasure hunt!! Any way I got out there for under $50, I was proud of my self for showing such restraint!! :rolleyes1 I can take pictures if anyone is interested ;)
Very cool I am so jealous! I loved everything you got! I actually just bought the blue and white pooh material from Joanns to make something for my niece!

lil_ragamuffins- Everything is fabulous!
Today is my niece's birthday and my sister called me and asked me if I could make Kelsey a cake that had something to do with Twilight on it. So I went looking for pictures of Bella and Edward that were drawn. This is the cake that I came up with.
th_1231625927.jpg

In person Edward doesn't look that odd. I couldn't get a good angle to take the picture.

My sister said that Kelsey was so excited when she saw the cake that she had tears in her eyes. Everybody at the party loved the cake.
The cake came out great! I am so torn if i should read Twilight next or just keep gong with the True Blood series! I LOVE the true Blood book so far but I am afraid if I keep going it will spoil next season of the TV show. Then again Twilight is on my list too! UGH what to do what to do!

Post birthday recovery in progress :rolleyes1
It seems birthdays around here last a week! Brookie had a school party and family party and a Princess Tea Party today. I got up early to clean and set up and decorate and we had a great time but I am sooo exhausted now!

Here is some pics of the birthday girl:

IMGP7549.jpg
AW! How cute! It looks like she had a great bday party!

I actually haven't posted and update! It has been a crazy week!
Thank you for keeping my dad, and my friends family in your prayers!
I Picked my Dad up Wednesday from the hospital. He has Chrones disease, and is currently on a restricted diet, limited activities, and 2 antibiotics. But he is home and feeling much better, so thank you all once again for your prayers.
My friends funeral was yesterday, and it was really sad. Her son couldn't be there (not like he would get it, he is only 15 months old) because he has bronchitis. But it was really a lovely celebration of her life. Her family definitely still needs prayers. Especially her DH, who I don't think knows what hit him yet.

Beautiful! I love them all!!

I really love this one!!!!! Great finds!!
Tat is so tragic about your friend!

sorry about your dad. I can so relate! One of my good friends has Chrones and has had 3 surgeries because of it since she was 14. George has Ulcerative colitis and had his colon removed back in 2000(?) I can't remember but Nikki was 11 months. For George that was the best thing he could have done! He still has some blockages from it but on a whole he is so much better now. The 10 weeks he had a colostomy bag where really rough especially because I had to change it. In the end it brought us closer and he is so much better for it. Actually because of everything I know about UC i swear it helped my get Nikki's Celiacs dx'd so much sooner!

I have outfit number one done for our trip!
I almost hate to post it with all the beautiful things posted today!
I am not completely happy with it. I guess I am a little rusty! I haven't sewn any clothing items since way before Christmas!
I hope my next one turns out better!

Sorry for such a lousy photo! The lighting in my sewing "cave" isn't that great once the daylight leaves!

I still have a few more to go!
How many more days?!?
Tom that is adorable!

MY WEDDING RING IS GONE!

I looked down awhile ago, and my ring is GONE! I have NO idea what could have happened! I never ever ever take it off, and it certainly wasn't lose. I have been searching the house, but I can't find it! I am so upset!

I think another prayer is in order!

I'm so happy!!!
Oh I am so happy you found it!

About 2 yrs ago i took my rings off because my hands where swollen and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get them off. I put them where I always did and when I went back they where gone! I searched everywhere! i cried freaked out and even went through 3 garbage bags thinking maybe they where in there. This went on for days! Then all of the sudden George had a light bulb moment and thought of were Kyle's little people hiding spot was . The computer subwoofer at the time! Sure enough they where there! So George shook the subwoofer and the rings came rolling out awful close to the heating vents on the floor! I dove to get it to stop it from rolling down!

While we were home for Christmas I left all of my jewelry at my parent's house. It really annoys me! I don't have my wedding or engagement ring or my charm bracelet (w/ my kids on it). I will see my parents when we go to my sister's house in Chicago in February so I will get them then. But in the meantime I feel naked! Now a really good question would be why is a person who hates winter, being cold, and snow going to Chicago the first week in February? I need to get my head checked!
Hey when you come to visit maybe we can meet up? I am just outside of Chicago???

LOL.....don't ya hate it when the closets seem to get smaller? Hahaha. I appliqued the letters. Thank you for the sweet comments. I will look for a picture to upload showing the entire shirt.
Oh please do post it! would you mind if I put it on my list of things I would love to case?

I think it worked this time!

And because she is cute and for some reason has to get into every picture I take!

As you can see the applique isn't great but for the 1st one and not having the right heat n bond so my thread broke a lot I am ok with it1
I actually went to the store and got the right stuff yesterday:banana: So I think I am going to make Kyle some pj's!

ETA- I didn't add elastic to the back because I didn't know how much. I added a few rows of shirring. I thought that it could grow that way as well.
I did the elastic to the first Feliz I made, and then I thought I would try to do the shirring on the Christmas Feliz's I made. I think doing the shirring was easier and made absolutely no difference on the garment itself.

I have outfit number one done for our trip!

I'm so happy!!!
I lost mine about 2 weeks ago. Same as you, I looked down partway through the day and realized it wasn't on my finger. I was out with some friends and I called my DH (he was cleaning, I wanted him to be careful he didn't throw it out!) and he said he had already found it! I have no idea how it had fallen off.
Anyway, I know your panic, and I am SOOOO glad you found it!!

I want to thank everyone for the compliments on my niece's cake. It has been a while since I have done an icing drawing. I was kind of afraid to do it.
I think it was fabulous too!
Adorable!

I know now, that really something like Chrones really is just a lifestyle change. My dad is just stubborn, and has a hard time with changes. lol. I think after this scare he will do better. That must have been so tough to have that bag for so long! My Gram has one permanently, and it is rough.

yeah UC is VERY much like Chones except George will even say chrones is worse because you can get it any where in your digestive system not just your intestine. The bag was rough especially with a little one wanting to climb all over him. He was a different person during the time he had the bag. He was VERY lucky though he only had it for 10 weeks when he was supposed to have it for 12-14 weeks but he begged his dr to do the take down surgery right before Christmas and before the dr left for the islands on vacation! LOL Thankfully he heals really fast and they could do it.
Yes a diet change can help but unfortunately not always. George tried EVERYTHING but when the dr asked him if he smoked because sometimes the nicotine helps with the symptoms George decided he better seriously look into the removal of his colon! He was on some serious medication at the time too. I hope your dad is one of those people where the diet change helps and he feel much better. If you have any questions feel free to ask unfortunately I have been there done that and it is still all to fresh in my mind! I was very lucky to have a girlfriend who had Chrones so when George was having his 1st surgery she could tell me what to expect. hang in there hopefully your dad's will go into remission. Has he looked into the Chrones and Colitis foundation for info?

Number 2 is DONE!

I stayed up most of the night to finish it.

I am going back to bed. I work nights so I usually sleep during the day anyway. And, since I have to work tonight, I better get a little more sleep.

I really do like this one! It looks so much better in person. The bright snow in the background made the pictures too dark. I wasn't about to find a brighter spot outside though in my pj's;)

Teresa - So glad you found your ring! I totally agree about Brook looking older. I thought so and I see the difference and I am her mom. Usually you don't notice it so much when you are seeing someone everyday. Just over the last month it seems that she looks so different ;)

Tom - I love the Minnie dress!!! I love her eyelashes and expression! Wow Tom - I love that new dress too~ When do you sleep???

Love all of the trip pics and outfits posted!!! :yay: Yeahhhh for the new sewers trying out appliquing and new outfits! Very cute!

Love the outfits and your kids are adorable. My DH was nervous when I first posted pictures of the kids on the internet, but I figure it is the same as being out if public, it is just a bigger public! There are just some things you can't control. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I got some knits to try today with my serger! Any tips from anyone? Also, when you are making a ribbed cuff or neckline, how long do you make the piece of ribbing?

How are your knits coming? I always use a pattern so I can't give you advice on how long to make the ribbing, the pattern tells me!

Great job Crystal! I am not artistic at all so I am jealous of those who are.

Oh she is so cute! Looks like she a great time.

Oh I love that! Very creative! I think I want one for me! I think you are overthinking it. I really think it would look great with the dress, and it won't matter at all if the red's or the scale of the dots don't match. Just having the fabric against red vs. against white changes how our eyes "read" the colors anyway.

Thanks for the advice! I am just horrible at trying to figure out what patterns go with what and stuff like that. I will try it and see how it looks.

Love the jammies. The dress is cute. You can always have her wear a necklace to fill in the space on the shirt above the jumper. Does she have a heart?

I think I will tack the straps and then maybe she can get two years of wear out of it. It is pretty roomy around too. The only nice jewelry she has was made by Jeanne (jham) and she only has bracelets. I will have to commission her to make a necklace, lol!

Yes, I hope the next one is better, that one is such a disappointment! :lmao: Why are we so hard on ourselves? I can't wait to see Leighanna modeling it!

Why, yes, she is a very sweet little girl!

Awwww! Aunt Teresa is so nice! :lovestruc

Cute! I think they really came out nice. Now that you have the right heat n bond, I bet the next one will be easier.

Oh, thank goodness, you've improved! :rotfl2: I love the yellow print with the princess fabric, it looks so cute. Where is Leighanna? Doesn't she want to try on her new dresses?

Tom! I really really LOVE both the dresses! This one is cute! But I LOVE Minnie! Actually I love them both, just not as fond of princesses. I really can't wait to meet you, your wife and Leighanna. I tell my DH all the time that I wish he was more like you.

Hey Steph,

I havent tried them yet - they are up for going through the washer next!! I was thinking of using the easyfit pants and maybe getting the raglan pattern for the shirts = you have the raglan, right? do you always use knit with it?

Has anyone ever made the ALine without lining it? I want to make elizabeth a cordoroy jumper (has tiny horses embroidered on it) and was thinking the Aline would be cute - but maybe too hot if it was lined?

Thanks, Wendy

I have done the A-line without lining it and it came out great. I used the pattern piece that is for the straps as a lining for the top so that the straps come out right.

I have to thank you all, I just completed Carla C's A-line top and never finished a top so quickly, or without having to remove seams!!!!!!!!!! (well almost - I still have to do the buttons and button holes, but I only have two bobbins and don't want to waste a whole bunch of thread swiching colors until I finish the second top)

THANKS

They look so cute and she is adorable. I also love the fireplace mantel. Wow, take more pictures for us.

I just got in from plowing. Yes, it is 11:30 and now I have to clean up the house fast. Mom is coming over for a swim and the house is trashed!!!:scared1: I have finished three layers to the dress and have 2 more to go and it will be done. Then onto the shirt. Wish me luck.

Tom, love the dress and Tinka_bella, I miss "chatting" with you. I hope you are feeling better soon. SAHM thanks so much I can't wait to try it out. Thrersa, glad your rings are back.

Sorry, I love everything I have seen the past few pages but really can't post much as the snow and the skirt are taking up my time.

I hope everyone starts feeling better soon. The cold is nasty one for sure.

I made a few things for my kids for our Thanksgiving trip.

You're cute! I LOVE seeing what everyone here looks like. Makes me feel like I'm taking to "real" people. ifkwim

Since I'm into a post hogging kind of morning I'm going to keep on going!

I have a question that probably anybody can answer but I cannot figure out for myself. I was wondering how you get your computer to print something bigger than a 72 pt. font. I want to use words when I applique something and this is as big as Word lets me get the font and it doesn't seem big enough. I'm sure I'm going to feel pretty stupid after you tell me what to do! I have a feeling this is an easy thing to do and I'm just not tech savvy enough to do it!

I feel like I'm the one who's been post hogging lately. Someone's probably already answered this, since I'm not caught back up yet, but it's really easy. The drop down arrow only goes to 72pt, but you can either type right over the numbers in that drop down box, or in the font section of the menu bar any number you want.

Here is the one I finished last night.
th_100_7983.jpg

The skirt turned out great! I'm sure she'll feel like a princess wearing it.

I would be making something for just my DD, and maybe have enough left for one more outfit. However, I went back to the pottery barn kids site, and didn't see this available in crib sheet size. SO, I may not be taking the plunge after all. I don't want to buy a twin set. That would be way more fabric than I want to deal with. Maybe we could set up a group purchase?

I purchased doll beds for my DD for Christmas. I got them on :wizard: . The set that I bought was a bunk bed that has a trundle bed under the bottom bunk that can be used for a third bed. They're also made so that I can purchase additional single beds to add to the set as we go along. They're very well made. You might want to look around and see if there are any other options besides the AG beds. You might find something that will work.

Shannon,

If you go to baby bedding, and look under boys baby bedding the sheet is listed there. They are $29 for a crib sheet - kind of expensive even for pottery barn but it says they are made with organic cotton so I guess they are charging more.

Do you remember who your seller was? Was this a "handmade" item? I will have to look it up.

I love that one too Tom! Very sweet and princessy! You are so good at combining fabrics. I never would have thought to use that apple fabric (which I have since I used it for back-to-school dresses) with a princess dress (but it fits in perfectly for Snow White especially) but it looks fantastic! I can't wait to see Leighanna in it.

I don't know if I ever mentioned it. There is a little girl on Grace's soccer team (and now her basketball team too) named Olivia who looks like she could be Leighanna's sister. Her hair is a little darker but wow, it throws me every time I see her.

Oh gosh, go buy more bobbins, you need way more than two!

I hope that you are all feeling better soon. That's a long time to be sick.

Honestly, when I read this, I could feel my heart pounding. I thought you were going to say you were dreaming. How lucky to have that by you!

LOL! Sorry, it wasn't digitized. I did it all by hand! Really, it is faster by hand (for me atleast).

Okay, you did not make my day.

By hand, do you mean hand sewing, or doing applique on the machine? However you did it, :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: those pieces were so tiny!

All of your customs are amazing! Your queen of hearts and the Tink/PeterPan dress are unbelievable!!! I need to get some Star Wars fabric, for my Star Wars obsessed son.

The photos in your second post are not all showing up for me. If you haven't already posted them again (I'm still a few pages behind) please do. I really want to see your Steamboat Willy.

I'm hogging posts here again!
And who here is tempted (like me) to go and buy a set of sheets from Pottery Barn Kids right now from the Dr. Seuss bedding set? I have seen the fabric that was printed but is now out of print on :wizard: and always loved it but it is too expensive. Not that these sheets are that much cheaper but I am so tempted to buy a set and make outfits for my girls. If anyone else is going to do this I have a quick question.....do you think a crib sheet would be enough if you mixed it in with other fabrics? I have 3 girls and I always tend to overbuy but this is so expensive I hate the thought of buying too much (like there is such a thing!!!).

Yes, I love that fabric. When I saw the catalog, I was sorry that I had just done the little ones bedroom last year, or I'd have been trying to talk them into a Seuss theme.

Also, I agree with everyone that said to (? I forgot who, sorry) to get the computerized machine. Also, I'd advice anyone getting an embroidery machine to get one that does at least 5x7, even if that means buying used, because you'll feel limited IMMEDIATELY if you don't.

Once I can get Leighanna to model these, I am sure they will look perfect!
Beautiful! HUM I wonder if i could get a 9 yr old to wear a dress like that in the summer???? :rotfl:
why didn't i start sewing for her earlier!:confused3

The cold is nasty one for sure.
thank you. I will try to post more of my mantel and Fireplace later. It is original to the house;) Unfortunately we can't use it because Kyle has such bad allergies his allergist vetoed any thought of lighting a fire in it!

Thanks for the complements on Nikki's pj's and the applique. I really loved doing it!
How hard it is the applique on fleece?
I have this commercial pattern I keep putting off because well it is a commercial pattern! :rotfl: It this for a fleece little girl jacket. And I think some applique pockets would be adorable but I am worried it will be too hard to applique on fleece?

I'd especially love to see the chip n dale!

Me too!

Today is my niece's birthday and my sister called me and asked me if I could make Kelsey a cake that had something to do with Twilight on it. So I went looking for pictures of Bella and Edward that were drawn. This is the cake that I came up with.

In person Edward doesn't look that odd. I couldn't get a good angle to take the picture.

My sister said that Kelsey was so excited when she saw the cake that she had tears in her eyes. Everybody at the party loved the cake.

Great cake! You are a very cool aunt.

Okay, I only have time for a few more before I've got to go get some work done. I have an outfit I've got to finish by Monday. I just lack the motivation at the moment to actually do it.
