Hi everyone, don't mean to intrude! But I'm searching for dresses for my DD's 2nd birthday party in April. Our theme is Minnie. I came across a super cute pink Minnie pillowcase dress on ebay that I want to get her. My question is..do you think it's okay to pair one of those with a shrug type sweater? It's never warm in April here and I love the dress so much.

I would think that would be cute. You know pillowcase dresses are pretty easy to do. You should try your hand at sewing some of your own after your trip!

Not that I need anymore fabric......... and I should be sewing with what I have;)

But Joanns has the calico wall at 50% which means all those wonderful polka dots are 2.00 a yard!!!

I just went and saved 90.00 (Never mind how much I spent LOL:rolleyes1 )

LALALALALALALALALALALALALA I Caaaaaaan't hear you!!! lalalalalalalalalalalala

DH called me one night from the ski hill to tell me he lost his ring. He had helped someone that day and he figured his ring came off when he took off his gloves. He did go back and try to find it, but hours later on a ski hill :rotfl2: ? The next day he was leaving and found his ring in the car top carrier where the skis go. It must have fallen off up there. He now wears his ring on his right hand, that finger is just a little bit bigger. He refused to get it resized, something about them cutting out part of the ring:confused3 .

I'm glad he found it!!!!

Hello again, I had posted earlier about looking for a mickey head template. I believe you stated it was in the bookmarks on the 1st post?? I am having trouble finding it there. Can you tell me what category to look at? Thanks

I'm sorry, I missed your post the first time around!

If you go to the group Photobucket account, look in the left hand column, you will see a section called "tags" look down the list and click on the one that says "graphics" that's where we keep the templates. Let me know if you still can't find it.

I have no money,, but... I am off to VA tomorrow to take MIL home and she has 2 Joanns near her house (we have none near me). So, I wake up this morning and find 3 joann coupons on my email! Yahh! I will just hav to spend and hear dh complain when I get home. I need material (not disney...I know crazy huh!) to start summer clothing!

Oh please do post it! would you mind if I put it on my list of things I would love to case?
 OMGosh did you just say you wanna case something that "I" made??? WOW....I am speechless and very flattered!!! Thank you so much...please feel free to case away. I am sure you can do a better job than me. Hahaha.

Anyway, here is a quick pic to show the whole outfit, not the best picture to show off the outfit but hopefully you can see it a little better. I embroidered both Mickey and Minnie on the shirt as well as on the pant legs. lol. Thanks again!

I think it worked this time!
Here is the pj's I made Nikki with my 1st real applique on it!

Oh Nikki looks so cute in her new jammies!!! Way to go!!!

Number 2 is DONE!

I stayed up most of the night to finish it.

I am going back to bed. I work nights so I usually sleep during the day anyway. And, since I have to work tonight, I better get a little more sleep.

I really do like this one! It looks so much better in person. The bright snow in the background made the pictures too dark. I wasn't about to find a brighter spot outside though in my pj's;)

Another beautiful creation Tom. I can't wait to see your sweet DD modeling these new outfits!

Great work Tom. This and the first one are awesome.

Hi Guys,

Would 30, 6" squares be enough for a rag quilt? also, will flannel work for a rag quilt (to fuzzy) or does it need to be regular fabric????

thanks!!

Flannel is the best for a rag quilt. That is all I use.

All the dresses are gorgeous. I especially like the Mickey ones with the bold colours

Well, I completed my first 2 pairs of Easy fit pants, and my first Raglan Hoodie this weekend. Plain stuff, but I know I have to post pics anyway. I will post tomorrow.

I am hoping to head there tomorrow am. There was a whole bolt of Minnie dots last Wed so I hope there is some left.

And more...

Of all the pic you have posted, this is my favorite. I like how it is not your typical Mickey/Minnie outfit due to the differing colors.

And TOM - your dresses are gorgeous.

This is the first hat I have ever made!!! This is for Andrew, my son, for our upcoming trip. I am making him a bowling shirt to match. And one for my husband too!!

yeah UC is VERY much like Chones except George will even say chrones is worse because you can get it any where in your digestive system not just your intestine. The bag was rough especially with a little one wanting to climb all over him. He was a different person during the time he had the bag. He was VERY lucky though he only had it for 10 weeks when he was supposed to have it for 12-14 weeks but he begged his dr to do the take down surgery right before Christmas and before the dr left for the islands on vacation! LOL Thankfully he heals really fast and they could do it.
Yes a diet change can help but unfortunately not always. George tried EVERYTHING but when the dr asked him if he smoked because sometimes the nicotine helps with the symptoms George decided he better seriously look into the removal of his colon! He was on some serious medication at the time too. I hope your dad is one of those people where the diet change helps and he feel much better. If you have any questions feel free to ask unfortunately I have been there done that and it is still all to fresh in my mind! I was very lucky to have a girlfriend who had Chrones so when George was having his 1st surgery she could tell me what to expect. hang in there hopefully your dad's will go into remission. Has he looked into the Chrones and Colitis foundation for info?
My Grandmother (Dad's mom) has lived more than half of her life with Chrones. He does know how to live with it, it is just a matter of DOING it. Your story of your DH and you is definitely inspiring though. I will keep you in mind if I have questions. Thank you:)

Oh yeah, baby!!! I "saved" about $130. LOL!!! Actually more than that. Since we homeschool, I received an additional 15% with my educator's discount. Sweet!!! Shhhh...... the fabric is still in the car waiting for my dhto go to sleep, so I can bring it in. LOL!!! Seriously, my dot addiction is getting outta control. Fortunately, eventhough he teases me, he doesn't really mind.

I can't wait to see them. I have made lots of things, but I haven't tackled the raglan though. Was it easy? Any advice? I have the pattern, and always want to try it.

Hey, you did a GREAT job!!! I think it looks great. I can't wait to see the shirt. You could even add a t-shirt with a Mickey head, so it could be layered.

Woo hoo on your fabric deal!!!

I think the raglan is really easy. It goes together very quickly! I love it!

That turned out great. I missed it if you posted it before.

The hat is super cute. So is your son!!!

So, now that I'm all caught up I thought I would share some things that I've been working on. These were done before I got really sick. Forgive the marked out faces. I'm sure the girls' mom wouldn't mind me posting these; but since I haven't specifically asked, I am doing this.

I also made a hat for the last outfit, but I don't have any pics of it.

That would work for a doll I think. I made 3 lap quilts for presents for Christmas and used 30 11" squares. Flannel works great.

To decide how many you need take the size of the square and subtract 1" all around for seams (a 5" square becomes 4X4) Then decide how wide you want the quilt. If you want it 48" wide, you will need 12 squares. How long do you want it? 60" long is 15 squares. Then multiply length by width. 12 X 15 = 180 squares.

I used 11" because you can get 4 of them from a 44" wide material. They were a nice size.

Thanks Piper - all great thoughts! I was in your neck of the woods a few weeks ago for a conference at Texas Childrens! We enjoyed eating at Pappasitas Cantina and we also went to the Christmas light walk through at the aquarium in Galveston - it was so fun!!!

I love this look! Did you use a pattern or make it up on your own, I'd love to try it!!!!!!! Great job!!!

Both of these patterns are from YCMT. The top is a simple peasant shirt with long sleeves. I shirred the neckline, put a few rows of shirring on the bodice, and the sleeves. The skirt is the Bowznstuff Triple Layer Twirl skirt. I love the pattern and use it a lot. I find it very easy to change the hem on one or more of the layers to give it a whole new look. On this one I didn't change the hem, but I did add the tulle to the bottom layer.

Hello!

Well, I have been looking for the better part of an hour trying to find cheap pillowcases for our 2009 VBS (I am in charge of VBS & the crafts). Each year the kids make a themed t-shirt. But, I am so tired of trying to match sizes to the kids, keep track of them and get them to church on the right day to do the craft! So, I have decided that this year we will do pillowcases! All the same size and I can get the names on them ahead of time.

Anyway, my problem is trying to find the pillowcases cheap enough. We have 100+ kids daily with around 120 kids signed up for the 5 days. We have some lovely ladies at church who want to help out, but don't want the daily commitmen, so I'm going to ask them to make our pillowcases.

My questions to you guys is what would be the best "weight" of fabric! Dose it need to be 100% cotton or will a cotton/poly blend do? We will be doing the flour paste mixture on Day 1, letting it dry over night. Day 2 we will be using the spray-on canned fabric dye/paint and let that dry. Day 3 we will peel the dried goop off and send them home.

We have found in the past that a higher cotton count on the t-shirts holds the dye better. I think that this will be a quick sew, but I need to get on the ball now so that we aren't scrambling around! TIA!

Love the outfits! My daughter loves Miss Spider, what a cute idea for a bag. And it is so cool your daughter got picked to come up front and dance. I am sure it made her day! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Cute outfits! How fun that she got to dance with the HSM parade! I'm sure that made the trip for her. We do need to see bigger pictures though! Your outfits are fantastic!

It looks like you made some really nice outfits for your kids!! Feel free to post big 'ol pictures on here. We love to see detail! How cool that she got picked for the HSM show!!

Thank you for the kind comments. Yes, Aly was thrilled to dance, until she saw the crowd, then she froze. She was in heaven as she LOVES HSM.
