The New 2008 Beach Club and Yacht Club FAQs thread

This is a hard one. Keep in mind everybody has different tastes. My best buddy at the Y&B loves the new YC rooms. She loves blues. Also keep in mind all the rooms at both the Yacht and Beach are very different as far as layouts. Some have chest of drawers, some have daybeds, some have easy chairs. So you might like another layout in another room better at the YC. Personally (and remember, this is my opinion ... my best buddy likes the new YC rooms better), I prefer the new rooms at the BC. I'm a brown/tan person as far as colors. I prefer the whole BC much better than the YC. When I have to work the lobby of the YC instead of the BC, I get a tad "down" ... I call the YC side the "dark side". I'm more a sunny yellow, tan, peach color person, therefore I'm in love with the BC!! To be totally honest, I preferred the old rooms at both the BC and the YC as far as the bedspreads, curtains, carpets, colors, etc. I would have liked to see them just redo them the way they were - all new but the same. However, I'm in the minority. I'd love to hear other disers' opinions on this. But 99% of the people I talk to in the lobby at the BC love the new BC rooms better than the old ones. I would imagine the same will be true at the YC once guests start getting into the new rooms. The pictures don't really do any of the rooms justice. If I were you, I'd definitely stay at either the BC or the YC. Stormalong Bay and our activities (see my earlier post) can't be matched at the BWI!! You could always switch back to the BC because the rooms were rehabbed last year so are still very "new" and maybe those colors would appeal to you more. I know there are pictures posted somewhere of those rooms too. I think DD9 would probably like the BC side better. Again, just my opinion!! Disers, please help here too!! We have some disers here that know the YC and BC as well as Magical One and I do!! Hopefully they can give you their personal opinions and you can make a good choice. Hope this helped.

I loved the BC rooms - I think the darker headboards make for a little nicer contrast with the white walls. Totally agree with Teena about the BC lobby compared to YC; it's brighter and more appealing. I think the pics of the new YC club rooms look very nice, especially the daybed. I think they could use a strip of color on the beds like the little runner they have on the beds at BC. I don't think anyone could be unhappy with a refurbished room of any kind in the long run, and having taken a walk over to the BW, the pool over there just doesn't compare to SAB.

Thanks for the refurb YC room photos - I must admit I'm also a little disappointed (but only a little :goodvibes), I would have liked to have seen a new headboard, like the BC beds have. Also, the beds look a little too white (but again, this is only my opinion/taste), could they not have some cushions, like at the BWI and BC, to break it up a little, or a runner?

Hi guys! I mentioned a couple of days ago that I had some pictures of our 1br villa from last month...sob, sob as I say that. The good news is that we are booked for next year at BCV so that makes me a little happier.
Here are the pictures!

I can't believe that I didn't take pictures of the bath area, but am not seeing them now, if I find them I'll be sure to post!

I agonized over BWI vs. BC for June. Chose BWI and as stated earlier loved it. We were given swim privledges at SAB while at BWI due to a slide closure at BWI. Some people were mailed this information (those guests at BWI) - we stayed Club BWI and were never told of the closure at check in, let alone a letter sent. I happened to hear about it the day before our trip but had my park touring pretty much set up, etc. with ADRs, etc. So kind of tough to make last minute changes. So long story short, we were able to take advantage of SAB for 2 hours on one day due to my having no notice. Had I enjoyed SAB more this past trip I bet I would have booked back at BWI b/c I just love it there. So here I am booking YC in late November for SAB (which DD wants to swim more in) hoping it is warm enough to swim, hoping it is a hotel I love. Part of me wants to ask disney to let me stay at BWI and give me 1 day at SAB since no one EVER told me of the pool privledges...That is so annoying...

THank you Teena for the reply. I hate picking a hotel!!! I am sure YC will be lovely. I visited BC last week in the lobby and seemed very nice, etc. I don'tknow if BC has the rep. of being more hectic but we chose YC b/c in my mind it was more of a BWI feel. If you compared the BWI to the YC would you say they are alike? Does the BWI feel like the dark side?;) Someone needs to put me out of my misery. I want BWI with a pass to SAB due to my mishap last week. THAT Would be my ideal.....Someone call the hotel for me - BC, BWI or YC...ANYONE!

Actually all the beds will have a runner or whatever that thing is called at the bottom of the bed. The new ones for the YC aren't here yet.

Real tough one. I think you should start one of those polls to get some help. For me, I think the BC feels more like the BWI. But honestly, how much time are you going to spend in the room looking at the colors, furniture, etc.? If you are going to be spending more time at Epcot than Hollywood Studios, then I'd go with the BC over the YC too. If you will be spending more time at Hollywood Studios, then I'd go with the YC since it's closer to the boat launch. At the BC, you walk to Epcot and only bother with the boat for Hollywood Studios.

Girlfriend!!!! get your walking shoes on for a day between August 11th and 15th:) I'll stop in on the 10th. Just me and two 14 year olds.

I'm posting the really cute photo of you at Jeanne's class in March 2008.

Teena is on the far right and her daughter Jeanne is on the far left

Thanks so much. I'll be there in the lobby on the 13th!! If your daughter is not there with you when you check in, she will need to show up at the Front Desk sometime within 5 days before your arrival date and show her ID.

See you soon!

Hi Teena,
I too am glad to see you're back! We were there a few weeks ago, (the 2 teachers from Kansas) and we talked about your daughter and her students. Loved seeing the picture of the class with you included! Hope you had a nice trip.
