I was wondering if I can get a Mickey shaped cake delivered to my room at POR? Do they charge alot for delivery? I was going to do it at Chef Mickeys for my daughters birthday but that would only give us two days to eat the whole cake.

I don't believe you can get cakes delivered to the rooms at POR. I think you can pick up a cake from the food court but it will not be like the ones you get at GF or Chef Mickeys. I would suggest maybe a different restaurant? You going to 1900 Park Fare or Wilderness Lodge or O'hana? Any of the MK resorts around the lagoon would be your best bet.

Love, Love, Love it!!! :goodvibes

the celebration/retirement cake is terrific!...........that must have been a fun surprise.

I wish I could show all the detail on the cake. It was truly well done. Each carousel horse was individually decorated, and the lattice work on the icing was perfect. Someone really put some effort into making something special, so I thought the cost was totally reasonable. My daughter liked eating the chocolate carousel horses, lol. My mom was very surprised and thrilled with it. I would definitely order a specialty cake again.

Okay, I am clearly missing something here. I called the Cake Hotline today and spoke to the CMs for MK, as I'd like a custom cake for our lunch @ CP. They're telling me that my choices are the podium cake or for 'custom', I can choose Vanilla, chocolate or marble cake and buttercream chocolate or vanilla for the icing with an edible design of which there are only a few to pick from. I spoke to 2 different CMs who basically said the same.

I know I want the yellow cake with Strawberries & Bavarian cream. I just don't know (other than GF) where I can get it from. I haven't made my ADRs yet (since we're going in December), so I'll go to whatever restaurant I have to to get that at our meal. Does anyone know?

I've had strawberries and custard filling in cakes at the BC and at the Poly. I do think that the in park restaurants typically have less variety, but it is certainly worth a shot. Good luck!

an additional clarification to jenjersnap's reply & my post above: am I understanding that you cannot get this cake at a TS Restaurant at one of the parks, but you can get it at a TS Restaurant at one of the hotels? Sorry if I'm driving y'all nuts, but I just want what I want and no one seems to be able to help me when I call them :(

HAPPY WEEKEND! :cool1:

You could try the restaurants at the BoardWalk or at Yacht & Beach if you don't want to eat at a Grand Floridian restaurant. Those are the three resorts with bakeries that seem most capable of doing specialty cakes/different flavors.

Oh, and no bakery at WDW makes yellow cake - only vanilla. Is it really different than vanilla cake, or would that do?

Yes. Resort bakeries offer many more options than park bakeries. :thumbsup2

Hi, I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to the person that posted about getting a Birthday cake at PUBLIX .We got two little cakes so we could have chocolate and yellow. Well the chocolate was a Ganache frosting and SO GOOD and the Buttercream frosted yellow cake was excellent also. These cakes were baked fresh 8 inch and cost less than $20. for the two of them. Publix also gave us two plastic cake spatulas.:thumbsup2 Just an option if you have a car. We went to the outlets on Vineland and Publix is right near the outlets. Joan

We've decided to go with a cake from Publix for our arrival night (Boma) and have them do a photo image on the top. I'm still wavering about a bon-voyage cake for the following week (now that I think we can get an 8 inch custom decorated). Mostly I'd love to see what the GF chefs would come up with for a cruise on the Magic cake!

HEY..what are the between the layers filling choices for a custom cake...can't remember....

.

does anyone know the Boardwalk Bakery's hours?

I am thinking this type of cake is what i'd like to order for my DD's birthday http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=32518556&postcount=53

how big is this do you think? I'd like orange frosting for the mickey heads. should I call the BW bakerey before we go, or order Sunday afternoon (arriving) for a Tuesday afternoon pickup?

Is there anything you don't know about Disney? lol I don't think we've ever 'talked' on here, but I've seen many of your posts... PS- your wedding cake was the coolest EVER!
THANKS, Lurkyloo, for the advice... I'll pick from those 3 restaurants for my bday lunch and we'll do CP another day.
yellow or vanilla... I don't care as long as it's not chocolate...

So, I guess CP will have to move to Breakfast so we can do one of those 3 hotels for lunch :)

Hi Guys!
I love all the cake pictures - well since I am a cake person, I love it ten fold.

Question though... can I carry in a cake to a Disney restaurant? I make cakes and we are driving for our October trip. I want to make and take the kids favorite cakes (little 3" ones) and have them the night we arrive for our ressies at Ohana. Do you think that would be a problem? Would I just take them to our table or could the CM take them and bring them at the end of the meal?

Anyone do this?

(oh, they will be chilled on the way and wrapped in fondant so that shouldn't be a problem. Love my portable fridgie thing that plugs into the car. :) )

Thanks!!

I brought a cookie cake to Sana'a last month for my DH's birthday. I called ahead of time to ask if it was ok, and was told that it was, and that they could keep it in the kitchen for me until after our meal. It was a surprise for DH, so at the end of the meal, our waiter asked if anyone would like to see a dessert menu and gave me a wink. I told him, sure, we'd like dessert, and he came back with the cookie cake, plates, and a knife to cut it. He also offered to take the leftovers back and box it up for us. I left him an extra large tip for the service!

Does anyknow if you can order the mini cake to be delivered to Boma and can they be made with splenda? The reg cake is just too big for the 2 of us
Lexi

i have never seen one except for the pictures on this thread. :confused3

are you thinking of the wedding cake style or not? :bride: if it is the 2 layer mini wedding cake, i would think it would mean for 2 or more people. if you plan to enjoy it for several days in your resort, get the bigger one.

Will the GF bakery do characters that are not Disney? I would like to surprise DH with a Super Mario and Princess Peach cake for our anniversary.

We are just a few weeks out from our trip and I am wondering what is the best way to do a Birthday cake for DD.
She will be turning 5 but we plan on being in the park all day long.
I want to have something special for her in our room but didn't know how to go about this.
It is just her,me,my husband and mother going on this trip.So I didn't want anything huge.
We are at the Caribbean Beach Resort.
Any suggestions?

Thanks :)
