°o° °o° °o° 9/11/09 DCL Announcement Discussion Thread °o° °o° °o°

Unfortunately, for those booking on 9/21, since it is call-in only, your deposits will be $600 pp. Starting on 9/28 when you can book online, the 50% online booking deposit special will apply (so I was told by a DCL CM). So for those of us who book online, our deposit should only be $300 pp.

I just called DCL for clarification and I think the source of the conflicting info between $600/pp and $300/pp deposits is the 50% discount. The discount will apply to ALL bookings, not just online on the 28th. So, for a family of four calling on the 21st, the deposit will be $1200, not $2400.

So no consistency. We aren't going to know for certain until 8 am on the 21st when people have to start paying the deposits.

I would perfer we could just transfer any reservation we have and use that deposit without having to add more.

I wish that too, but it won't work that way. You will have to pay any additional deposits when you book.

No information yet on DVC points requirements - this will be difficult to calculate if not given till on the phone. Really wish they would release these cash prices and points costs this week....

And Shocker -- the deposits for both Alaska and the Med cruises for 2011 are $600 PER PERSON! So even if you want to get a couple of quotes and hold some cruises to "think about", you'll be out a lot of money for a while. And since Disney is using this policy this year (must place the deposit at time of booking), I see a LOT of TAs requesting cancellation refunds down the road:confused3

I hope this is wrong, although more than likely it's not. At this point, I'd rather round up the gang of friends I went on the 2008 PC cruise with and book a cruise on a line that's more reasonable. I think Disney's popularity has gone to their head, especially in light of all these changes...silver, gold, plat levels and different booking dates, tiered cabin rates within the same category, and over the top booking deposits. Please, I love Disney but they're loosing me fast. Yes, our vacation was special and magical because it was DCL but in the end we realized that it was all the great people we met on the DIS who sailed with us that made those 15 days special . THAT, I do NOT need DCL for!

HI LIsa, count us in as former PCers who are looking to do something more reasonable with our PC friends.

It will be interesting to see what the 21st brings.

... except for the over the top deposit requirements, DCL has now become RCCL. They do the tiered past guest levels, and the tiered category levels.

Plus, have you seen the new cat plans? I did this morning and the old cat 6 is now only 6A and it's only a small section on deck 5,6,7 (aft)) from what I remember.

Can you tell me where you saw the new category deck plans? I haven't been able to find them yet! Thanks!

Do you remember what they said about Cat 11?? Oh well...hopefully all the CC members will be able to see all the info on Monday (OR BEFORE!!) and let the rest of us know. I can't book til the 28th anyway.

I'm going from memory here....

Cat 11 was A, B and C

Deck 1 had 10C for inside
Deck 2 had 11C and 10B and maybe 10C also
Deck 5 had 11B
Deck 6 had 11B and 11C

I do not remember seeing any 12's at all.

It sounds like the 8's and 9's have all been lumped together as 9 A,B,C,D . . .

The rep I talked with said that the new ships will be set up this way, and they want to be consistent.

If someone sees an actual deck plan, please please please post the link.

Thanks!
