I believe the one from Office Max is Kingston and Walmart sells sandisk. Don't think they sell Kingston but I might be wrong about that.

This is unbelievable...

a couple in Florida started camping out on WEDNESDAY - yes over a week early at a Best Buy in St. Pete.

Best Buy gave them two iPads but seriously - don't they have jobs & other responsibilites - is that how they are spending their vacations and who is watching their kids (which she mentioned having) - ah now I see - Other articles show that the husband appears to come and go and that there are two friends who are there all the time together...

No deal is worth a week waiting in line and this year the deals aren't even that great. I know they got an iPad out of it but that is not the norm - BB did that on a lark that they didn't know about.

In an interview she said Thanksgiving doesn't have to be about being with family (and the cooking and cleaning) and football.

like I said, it's all on an individual basis. With the new LED tv's coming out, and the 3d tv's and so forth, plasma is a thing of the past.. LCD is to led, what plasma used to be to lcd
That's not true. First, plasma is still king, if picture quality is the consideration. Second, LED is the newer technology, not LCD.

The big advantage of LCD/LED over plasma is power consumption. You can save about $34 per year with a LCD/LED.
... the cost to watch a 50-inch 1080p plasma TV is about $64 per year in the calibrated light output mode ... The average 52- to 55-inch LCD TV costs about $29 per year for the same light output ... . According to the Department of Energy, for example, the average refrigerator uses nearly $90 worth of energy per year. ... It's worth noting that plasma TV has many picture quality advantages over LCD TVs, so people who really prize video quality may be willing to sacrifice some efficiency to get those advantages.

Tell your husband "Just because they make a good TV doesn't mean they will make a good everything." This can be very true with electronics.
That's typically true. This year is an exception - almost surely through coincidence, the televisions and disc players break down into just about the same groups.

i'm sorry if this has already been asked, but does anyone know, will wal-mart match prices of other local stores? officemax has a flash drive for $5.99 that i'd like to get to go with the $29 wal-mart digital picture frame, and i'd really prefer not to make an extra stop at officemax, unless i have to. TIA! :goodvibes

Yes Walmart price matches, but it has to be the exact same item and you have to have the ad with you to show the cashier. They will not match % off sales or gift with purchase sales. (You can price match at any regular register, you do not need to go to the service desk.)

DH and I couldn't believe they gave them ipads. He looked at me and said, "Next year we are going to see more people lining up really early just to see if they can get free stuff!"

will the walmart laptop be available online as well?

Which one? The $198 emachines and $298 HP are only in store, the $398 HP is online and in store, the $498 Acer is only online.

If you go to the ad at walmart.com, you can click on the item and it will show if it is available online or in store, or both.

Amazon has an Acer laptop later today in the lightening deals. No info yet. I'm going to try to add it to my cart, then research it. You have 15 min to decide on lightening deals this year, then the item goes back into inventory.

This may be a glimpse into the bigger picture called "everyday life in Florida".

While many, here see Florida as the land of Mickey, and all things tourist -- The Sunshine State is at the epicenter of a sour economy.

That said, those down there in search of good deals are looking to save every dollar possible, even if it means camping-out for several days.

Just saw this on one of my blogs..

Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world’s largest retailer, said it will match the price of competitors’ ads on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.

Weekend savings will begin with Thanksgiving Day online specials on Nov. 25 and will run through Saturday, with cut- price deals on electronics, home items and apparel, the company said today in a statement. Customers with ads from competitors, such as Target Corp. and Sears Holding Corp., will be able to obtain those promotional prices at any Wal-Mart store.

Good Luck to those that brave the crowds.

For those skeptical about the previous post, this comes straight from Walmartstores.com (the corporate website). It's a definite must-read (and too big to put into a single post).

While Walmart has now seriously changed the game on many sought-after items, keep in mind that many of the BF specials around the retail block may be items that are "exclusive" to a particular retailer for the event.

This is a good time to remind BF shoppers that, at the current moment, Target will not price-match competitor's BF ads.

Also, unlike Walmart, if you plan to price-match at Target during the holiday season, you have to go to the service desk.

Wal-Mart has always price-matched Black Friday deals- it just has to be a local B&M store (not online) and within the time-frame of the sale. It always said it in their TV ads and on the Black Friday ad. I have done it numerous times as have lots of people I know.

Haven't they always price matched? I'm confused???

Maggie, the "normal" rule of Black Friday is no retailer will match another retailer's BF ad. It's usually in the fine print (and Black Friday is defined as a "special event").

Walmart changed the game with their recent announcement. It will be interesting to see if the others will follow suit.
