Mexican Riviera Cruise 03/27/2011

Oh WOW MyloveforDisney! I'd sadly taken you off the FE list before when you let Penguinaddict know you wouldn't be able to go, but happy you guys got on! :yay::woohoo: So I will put you back on the FE list. It's fine to let me know at the meet your cabin #, as mny won't know until on the ship. See ya there!

Thank you...

I thought I would put a question out to everyone to continue us getting to know everyone, before the cruise. We'll become old friends before we even meet. :cool2:

What excursions are you taking and why?
DD and I, don't ususally take many excursion, we are a little to tight with funds, but I really wanted to do the whale watching on this trip. But I can't book it, it appears to be full. But I'll check when we get on board to see if anthing opens up.

hope to hear what that groups has planned

Great question, Susan!!

We're going zip-lining in PV! :cool1::cool1:

Every time we see something like that on Amazing Race, we get so excited so really happy it's available on the cruise.

We booked thru the company (Canopy Los Veranos) directly (great reviews on TripAdvisor and another DISBoarder). Saved lots of money on a family of four!

Other than that, nothing! Going to wing it in Cabo the first day, but not likely to do anything other than walk around a bit. I would love to book horseback riding but really nervous about our on and off times so not looking too hard to book anything.

Whale watching sounds like a blast!

Good morning fellow cruisers!

I've updated all the lists and they should be accurate. Still missing info from CruisinEars, TheTakaTacoo4 and lilbug13 so if you folks are reading the boards, please contact us and let us know if you're still interested in the Fish Extender Exchange and joining us for the cruise meet. The more the merrier!!

CalDisFans, please let me know if the lists match your details. Also, if you've decided on the "assigned days" yet, I can add that to the site created by DisneyHonu.

The most current list can be found here: https://sites.google.com/site/disneymexicanrivieracruise/dis-board-list . The bottom of list (scroll way to the bottom) has links to printable lists. If you have trouble viewing/printing let me know.

We have 90 people; 24 DISBoard families (some have more than one "family" traveling, but I'm just counting each DISBoarder name as one); 28 adults and 19 kids for the FE Exchange.

If anyone has changed their minds and would like to join (or opt out) of the FE Exchange, let us know.

To all season cruisers, does anyone know if we've outgrown the Promenade Lounge as our cruise meet location?? Is there a great place for to take photos of the group?? I'll be bringing a tri-pod.

35 days til we board!!

Hi....I'm PixieDust's/Alyssa's Dad, (Appleguy/Gary)- been reading all the posts and we are all getting excited. As far as staying on board or doing excursions, we have a few excursions planned but looking forward to enjoying the ship too. We have been on several Disney cruises where we were going full speed at every port. Last year on the 11 night Med, we looked so forward to the sea days to rest. I am planning on a lot of relaxation time on the ship on this cruise. Planning on spending time in the deck chairs on deck 4 with my Kindle. Looks like we will have some good movies to watch, plan on wine tasting, spending time in my favorite bar on 3rd deck forward, Diversions--hope to see some of you there. Usually go there before second dinner seating for a quick drink
:cool1::banana:

Save us a seat!! We have the second seating too, and if we're lucky enough to have our young ones dreading spending time with us and opt for the Clubs, :yay:, we'll make our way for pre-dinner drinks, too!

Nice to meet you! Lori

We don't drink, but might stop by, say hi and have a smoothie or something, we also have the late seating.

Us too!
Lori, You're gonna have to try to explain the 1st & 2nd seating for meals, and the shows... that whole subject confuses the crud out of me.....:confused3

We will be at the clubs also. Have 2nd seating for dinner as well, I prefer that late, but we have always been on the East coast for cruising so 3 hours later was right on our time schedule. Wonder how it will be on the same time zone.

Relaxation is the key for us also, last year I only took about 6 total days of vacation when normally I take 5 weeks. I put in so much, unpaid OT is was crazy. At my work I put in 3 major projects during a 7 month run and our division was cut by 30% of our staff for that time period. So I am so looking forward to spending lots of time at Quiet Cove as it will be our hang out.

I've only done the Magic, so I'm excited to see how the Wonder differs in events/activities.

We'll have to have a meet in the clubs.

Susan, if you'd like to arrange a meet now during the cruise, go for it (!!) and let me know! We'll add it to the google site and start putting the word out.

Becky, I don't know too much about the rotations, just what I read on these boards. If anyone needs more info, check this Sticky for FAQs. It doesn't include much related to the MR, but the info seems to apply for most things.

Lori, may have more updated information but, this is how it worked on the Magic 2 years ago for dd and I.

early dinning started about 5:45pm and then their show time starts after their dinner at about 8:30pm

late dinning started about 8:15pm and then their show time starts before their dinner at about 6:15pm, since the shows only last about an hour it leave about 45 mins before dinner, so we enjoyed a drink before dinner.

I also believed they had a very early show in the afternoon at 2pm. On shows that we really like in the past we would go to both shows if we had nothing other scheduled in the afternoon or if we just wanted to get out of the sun for a little while. the 2pm show was a lot more casual, with many more children so if you are the type to want to see a show without little ones talking a bit, that show time might not be when you want to attend.

I'm not sure if any of the rules have changed on when you can go to a show.

Lori, may have more updated information .....

Hi Susan, thanks for sharing! Having never cruise DCL, I can only guess how it works based on other DIS'ers trip reports. I found your info about the shows extremely helpful!!! I was wondering how we'd keep our DS 6 up to enjoy a show after our late dinner seating. Now that I know we can see it before, yippee!!

As an aside, I did send an email to DCL asking if they know my family's rotation, so I can plan accordingly. If we get the details, I'll share them here.

Thank you Susan fr that info on the dining/show schedules. We have 2nd seating also, but were wondering if we should try to change it to the early one. I'd also read that even though it said 2nd dinner was at 8:15, that it usually took until about 8:45 to start dinner. Thats usually when we are having our night snacks! We may go for a before meal drink too. But I'm also glad to know that the shows possibly can be seen at 2pm, incase we do not want to go see them late at night.

FE'ers:

Okay, the latest #'s are: :surfweb:

ADULTS...30 (women 18, men,12)
KIDS.......21 (boys 16, 16, 14, 11, 10, 8,6,6,2, 2, 2
girls 13, 12, 12, 8, 8, 8, 6, 5, 4, 4)

I am not too sure about the 2:00pm shows--as many times that we have been on Disney cruises I never remember an afternoon live show except on the day they have the Disney Dream show there is an afternoon performance. We have always liked the late seating for dinner because on shore days you never feel like you need to get back too quickly to make dinner. We like going to the 6:30 show, head to Diversions for a drink, then head to dinner at 8:15. The only night the late seating is bad is the night of the late night dessert buffet--you are so full from dinner, all you can do is just look at the desserts--maybe pick at a few and take some back to your room.

:banana:popcorn:::thumbsup2

On the longer cruises they do have a matinee show for the Disney shows. Looking at other MR Navigators, it appears that they do these on at sea days.

On our two day cruise they had a matinee show during our at sea day as well.

Also, if anyone would like to join us fir the melodrama the night before we leave, that I mentioned earlier, please PM me.

I would love to go, but DD (me_disneycm) is having a concert Saturday night at Fullerton State. I'll be heading down the Thursday before the cruise. But I would love the information about the place for my future trip down there.

BTW, I see you live in LB, and you had said you were going to get more information about the port itself. Do you have anything regarding parking or transportation. I'm going to have DD do a trial run over to the port to check out how to actually get there. She may have to work in the morning of the cruise until noon so we may just be making it that by 2pm.

Also based on you id are you also a CM or an AP?

Parking at the port costs $1 per hour with a $12 daily maximum.

As I recall everyone has to be on board by 4 PM.

I definitely do recommend a trial run if you can do it, it makes it far less confusing.

I am not a CM.....cmwade77 simply consists of my initials (this is my standard username across all boards, Disney and nondisney alike, unless it as been taken already), last name and the year I was born, but I do have an annual pass.

Great $12 a day is not to bad for So Cal, its more expensive up here in nor cal. At the airport in Sacramento it is 29 a day. I figured that you living so close and being in the know about Disney you had to be at least an AP. Me too.

Well this week my plans are to get working on my FE exchange gifts.

Just over a month to go now. I'm usually for my cruise I half packed by now, but since this is a little on the fast trac, haven't started anything yet. Except I'll be bringing my past FE for the door. And some of my previous magnets, they are still on my frig...
