London / Paris Here We Come!!! 9/2 - 9/10/11

Question:

We have the option of going with our friends to Windsor Castle and Windsor Town from the airport once we arrive, or going to the hotel first to freshen up, then do a number of neat things in London with them. We leave here at 3:30pm, fly to New York, 3 hr layover, then head to London, arriving at about 9:30am their time. Not including getting to the airport early initially, that will be like, 13 hrs of traveling, I think.

Which option would you choose?

I would go for the London option, we can never seem to sleep on a plane and it takes us days to feel back to normal! At least if you are in London you can go back to the hotel as soon as you can check in. I agree with Tobi in that you should try and stay up until a 'normal' bed time and force yourself to get up the next day (easier if you have a tour to go on!)

It seems impossible that the trip is almost here!

I am having a quiet day at the Grand Californian after the hubbub and rush of the D23 Expo. Good training for our trip, although I hope to not wait so long in so many lines for so many things ever again.

I won't be putting my suitcases away once I get home, just washing things and packing them up again. Still don't know how I'm going to manage the one suitcase trick.

I can't wait to see all my old friends and meet my new ones!!!

One week from today, we get on the plane!!!!!!

I sure could use your prayers and pixie dust. I started feeling bad yesterday and still do today. Better now than a week from now, but still not good. I have a ton to do to get the kids ready, not to mention us. :sad1:

It must be something in the Ohio air, because I've been feeling kinda cruddy for the last couple of days, too! I hope you feel better really soon, Cynthia! I have 3 days to recover...

Thanks folks. Tobi, I'm sending all the get well vibes to you...3 days!!! :scared1:. You will be better by then. The ABD fairies will be sure of it. :thumbsup2

I managed to pull myself up long enough to make 4 trays of baby food for the little guy. I've got my packing list done (I do love a good list :cloud9:), now I just need to start packing. Hopefully tomorrow. Going camping this weekend, so that will help pass the time, and will help us relax some.

Does anyone have an idea of how much we will be outside while in London?

Christy and I are under the 1 week mark! Woohoo!!, 6 days!! The Brown Truck of Joy brought me my Power Strip and Power adapters yesterday as well as a new Camera Strap. We have just a couple of things to wrap up here, like making the house ready in case a storm from the Gulf of Mexico drops in while we are "across the pond."

Less than a week to go! :scared1: That is really hard to believe.

Get power adaptor/convertor...check

International plan for phone...check

Prep food for the baby...check

Call ABD and make sure they got Michaels humor when he wrote he was "allergic to carbohydrates"...check

Get healthy...working on it

Packing...um.....no comment. :rolleyes1

Anyone flying Delta on Wednesday?

Are you planning to take a carryon that includes clothes, just in case, or just your "personal" carryon?

I am taking a Carry-on with a couple of changes of clothes. If for some reason my checked bag does not make it, my airlines will give me a bag with essentials to use until my bag is returned (and maybe a clothing allowance!) This has happened to me on several occasions (for some reason it happened twice flying into Dayton, OH).

Cynthia and Tobi - hope you both feel better!

I can't believe we are soooooo close!

Hope to see everyone in chat tonight!:cool1:

Good thing I'm not flying INTO Dayton! :rotfl:

Wait...I'm not flying out of Dayton either. Duh!

I *ALWAYS* carry a couple of changes of clothes (especially underwear!) in my carryon. I've seen too many people wearing the same clothes day after day on a trip until their suitcases caught up with them.

Get all prescriptions: check!

Have slacks washed & pressed: check!

Pick up said slacks: DAMN! NO! Must make a special trip today (cleaners is at work)!

Start doing laundry: SOON!

Receive all online orders of "stuff": Check!

Receive Global phone from Verizon: That would have required them to actually send it out 2 days ago! :headache: They're over-nighting it, and oh-so-nicely waving the extra fee for the over-nighting.

Off to run some errands, then I really have to get serious about laundry & packing...

Thanks, Christy! Definitely starting to feel better. :thumbsup2 I plan to be in chat, although I may be distracted running around & doing stuff!
