DDC XIV - It's a trap!!!

Not open for further replies.
The other day an old college acquaintance sent me a FB message to say hello, and ask what I was up to. It immediately seemed strange... so I responded and sure enough she has a "business proposal" she wants me to hear. I am definitely thinking scam... some sort of MLM or the like. But desperate times and all that... so I took her call and I'm meeting her and her partner tonight to get pitched.

I know... I know...

If you're interested in staying outside of a Cedar Point resort, there's a hotel that is really close to the main entrance of the park called South Shore Inn.

My wife used to work there part time during her summers off. It's no Hilton, but it's family owned and have reasonable rates.

South Shore Inn

Thanks, Scott! Will definitely look into it :thumbsup2

I can only imagine what that's like in your line of work. For my job, all the goals for the year have to be met by 12/31... so right now this is our slow time. It's the only way I can get caught up on the thread! :lmao::lmao:

This how it is for me too. Holidays are crazy, then, first quarter it slows way down. Picks up briefly for mid February, then is quiet again until the end of April. Then it's non stop fun till the end of the year!

It’s that time once again!

Today I mark 12,000 posts.

That’s twelve times ten times one hundred. Or one thousand times twelve. That’s a lot.

As I was looking online to see some other notable 12,000’s this is what I found in my search:

12,000 BOOKS & WORKS BY FAMOUS AUTHORS CD

12,000 POUND POTATO TO BE FAMOUS AT IDAHO POTATO BOWL

KELLY’S WORLD FAMOUS EUCALYPTUS OIL – THREE 16 OZ, 12,000 SPRAYS.

CHIHUAHUA FOR SALE! OVER 12,000 CHIHUAHUAS FOR SALE

12,000 PEOPLE DEAD IN EARTHQUAKE IN JAPAN

12,000 CALORIE DIET | LIVESTRONG.COM

Wow. I rate right up there with your basic shopping list of books & other works; a ginormous potato; an oil spray that is supposed to stop pain and help you live a more comfortable life; way too many rat-dogs for sale; a tragedy beyond words in Japan; and a diet that in 2008 supposedly helped Michael Phelps rack up the gold medals in Beijing.

What can I say about post #12,000…. Pretty much the same thing I said as part of my 10,000th post, as paraphrased from my favorite big blue genie … “12,000 posts can you give you such a crick in the wrist! Oy! ”

While it doesn’t seem like only a short time ago I hit 11,000 – (LOTS has happened in my life over the past year… the past half year truly which diminished my DIS time - if it hadn't, I'd probably be marking my 13,000th by now) – I will still say that’s it been fun hanging out here with you guys. It truly is a fun place, where you can come and go as you please, and just simply enjoy. As we see from the illustrious Captain, checking in every now and again, equating to every 15 or so pages, works just fine! No need to read each and every entry, since there really is no way to do that or you'd pretty much be glued to your screen all day every day :rotfl:).

We don’t all enjoy exactly the same stuff, but we do all seem to enjoy being here from time to time. As we continue to move forward since that austere beginning in November 2007 by our illustrious founder, that fanatic of all fanatics himself, we’ve grown in many ways. Not just in page counts (and overall thread counts), but numerically in our membership, as well as the various online portals we share & call home; but also in our friendships and devotion to one another. We’ve seen many meets take place, bets amongst friends, families travel together, family vacations happening including DIS meets along the way. We’ve celebrated births together, as well as mourned and held each up during quick or protracted deaths. We’ve added each other to our family’s Christmas/Holiday card lists, sent birthday wishes, and even exchanged gifts. We rejoice when great things happen in our brother dads’ lives, and commiserate when things suck. We’ve celebrated each other’s kids’ special firsts or other milestones such as soaring with the Blue Angels, or heading off to college. Watching from a distance, yet almost feeling like we’re there in person cheering each other’s offspring on. All in all, we’ve become our own fraternity of sorts, and I like it. I’m proud to be part of it, and glad that you guys are part of my life.

My DW doesn’t quite get it, but that’s ok, as I don’t always get the stuff that she is in to or likes. As I ended my 10,000th post, I’ll end this 12,000th post as well. Here’s how I sum up my DDC time… “Sometimes it’s just fun messing around – after all – I’m a guy! I may be grown up, but by golly, I’ll never actually GROW UP. Age is something I cannot escape – total maturity is. Heck, if I allowed myself to completely mature, then I would not enjoy Disney parks, resorts, movies and stuff as much as I do…”

So thanks for being there guys. For putting up with each other and me, and for not minding that I've posted so much that I'm still the #2 poster in this DDC. Sure that might change in time, but for now, it's great to be your #2.

See ya real soon!

I got hit with the ID 10 T code one time from a guy in IT when I forgot mine :lmao:

I’ve written that one as a resolution code on a few service tickets in my time. But my favorite code to date is still: PEB-CAK

Very nicely said, Christopher! One thing that just occurred to me is the fact that you joined the DISBoards just a month before I joined... that's a lot of posts! :lmao:It's good to have you back on here giving your advice/contribution to the dads... you have a great wealth of knowledge to share here. :thumbsup2

not a bad idea... except at my house, my DD would eat all the broccoli then eat all the good stuff. :lmao:

That wouldn't work in my house either... broccoli goes quickly around here!

HAHAHA! I was just thinking about it this morning. I probably don't have any more followers since I keep making empty promises! :rotfl2:

oh yeah... lunch out is a treat. gets a little expensive though....

Yes, it certainly can be. But working from home it's a treat now, whereas when I was based out of an office, I'd go out a couple of times each week.

Oh and I've joined you in the "let's just pretend to update our TR" mindset... since I have an "active" one that I haven't updated in more than a year. Not going to happen now...

Thanks for fitting me into your busy schedule.

Happy to Barry. Happy to.

Thanks for that Mark. Really. :headache:

I picked up one of those Mickey gnomes when we were there in November. Looking forward to getting him out in the garden :thumbsup2

I almost bought one too last April - but went with the wind chime version instead.

Make sure you PM Mark and let him know. Otherwise he'll never see it!

Too true! :lmao:

Congrats on 18, and to Don on 19. Extremely jealous of Aulani, but keeping fingers crossed that we'll go when we're 10.

Well said, stopher!

Thanks.

Great post, Stopher! It's been great to get to know you and look at your Disneyland pictures. Speaking of which, any idea how many of your 13,000 posts have been a single Disneyland photo??? :lmao::rotfl2:

Thanks.

I don't know - maybe 300-400.

Just for a little shameless plug... I just posted an update in my TR referencing my unsuccessful duck hunt in the MK. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Awesome post Stopher. It has been great getting to know you on here and in person. We're lucky to have you :thumbsup2

What?

You aren't offering up your guest room?

Ya’ know…

That’s not a completely loony idea.

We’ve got a fairly extensive network of members with some relatively strategic locations. Getting permission from our wives to offer such accommodations might be a sticking point, but it’s still not a “completely” crazy idea.

+1 Exactly what Don said. Couldn't have said it any better myself. It's good to have you around here Stopher!

What?

You aren't offering up your guest room?

Well, technically I don't have a guest room. Unless you count the futon down in the basement which is entirely too close to the kegerator and the rest of the booze!

Next morning, Don would wake up stumbling drunk and wearing my daughter's princess costumes!

On second thought, my basement is available!

:rotfl2:

Law of averages...

If I post enough, I'm bound to post something intelligent.

I just realized when I read your quote of my post that I wrote 13,000 instead of 12,000. :headache: I guess I just saw that line in your post and subliminally took it to heart that you really should have 13,000 by now. :lmao:
