Went to the party last night, and here's a few observations.
It was freezing cold. 50 degrees!! Lots of people in hats and jackets.
Starting at about 6:00, they were checking arm bands every few feet just as you walked around. This lasted until about 7:30 from what I could tell. It seemed like they were really trying to flush all the non party people out quickly. I was surprised they started before 7. They were even guarding the bathrooms. I thought, well there's a good way to get people out, no band, no peeing!
The lines for the characters didn't seem all that crowded to me. They were shorter than some of the ride lines. I saw a few with no more than 10 people in them, but it may have just been my timing when I walked by, and not sure how long those 10 people waited.
Tried to buy a tin and was told that they are only selling the complete set of the pins. All individual pins have sold out.
Wanted to buy a green party sweatshirt but couldn't find any in the right size. Shirts were really picked over. I didn't have a lot of luck finding party merchandise in general at all. I may just have been looking in the wrong places, but where I did see it, it was very limited with what was left.
It's a Small World was up and running and had a line!
Peter Pan also had a 15 minute or more line all night as far as I could tell. We kept checking, hoping for a shorter wait as the night went on, but by about 10:45, we just decided to ride it since it didn't look like it would get any better than 15 min.
Jingle Cruise wasn't worth the time. The only "jingle" I noticed was a wreath on the boat, and the new Christmas jokes. I wish we had spent that time doing something else.
I thought the hot chocolate and cookies were fine, nothing great, but ok. I never had any issues getting any and never needed to wait in a line for them.
We watched the parade sitting on the fence by Splash Mountain right were it starts. We were able to walk up after it had started and see it. Not a front view, but great for a last minute spot.
We watched the Pirate Christmas show, and it was my favorite. Very cute and much more intimate than the big stage shows.
From 6:30 to midnight, we were able to eat at Liberty Tavern, see 15 attractions, watch 2 shows (Pirates & Tomorrowland), watch the parade, watch the fireworks, do a little shopping, get hot chocolate and cookies, and briefly check out the dance party. We did miss the very beginnings of the parades and shows, but still accomplished a lot, so you can see how uncrowned it was.
Overall it was a lot of fun, and I'd do it again.
