2014 Disneyland 1/2 Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** Updated 7/29 with Corral Info

As to running through the stadium, I hope I am looking in the wrong place... what I'm reading leaves out any mention of the stadium at all.

It's the moment you've been training for. Your 13.1 mile run on a magical course in the Happiest Race on Earth takes you through Disney California Adventure® Park along legendary Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland® Park, and then on to the streets of Anaheim. You'll complete your Disneyland® Half Marathon race with an exciting finish near the Disneyland® Hotel. It all adds up to miles of smiles, unforgettable memories, and a perfect ending to a magical Disneyland® Half Marathon Weekend.

I believe they had to change the course due to conflicting events in the stadium this year. :( This will probably be my only DLR runDisney event, so I was also very disappointed!

The course description under Runner Info says "Past Honda Center and THRU Angel Stadium, there is nothing about a change there.

We were actually discussing this a few pages ago. There are two different 'descriptions' posted which does still state that the course goes through the stadium. Seeing as no official course map has been put out yet everything right now about it not happening is all speculation. There was a problem like this a few years ago but they still ran through the stadium I believe. Here's the other quoted description:

It's the Disneyland® Half Marathon weekend and the course for this magical half marathon event will take you from Disney California Adventure® Park, celebrating California's storied past and exciting future, to Disneyland® Park, home of Mickey, Minnie, Donald and the whole Disney gang. Then it's on to the scenic streets of Anaheim, past the Honda Center, home of the Anaheim Ducks, along the Santa Ana Trail overlooking the Santa Ana River, through Angel Stadium, home of the MLB's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and then on to Disney's Paradise Pier® Hotel and the Disneyland® Hotel for an exciting finish. Ideal weather and a flat loop course set the stage for an exhilarating Half Marathon designed to shatter personal bests.

It's listed under Runner Info and then Course Description.

Thanks!! It was the discussion from a few pages ago that prompted me to go look -- I was hoping I was reading from a different place than the paragraph that said "through". I guess it shouldn't matter, but it *does*! lol Thanks!!

The course change was discussed a few times on the WISH board, and I was following it closely because I was part of the PHM/GSC weekend and knew I was planning for DL/DDD too.

Of course, I couldn't find any specific posts on the WISH board (search only coming back with threads, but I'm not going to search 80+ page threads!) BUT here is where it was posted on the Margaritas, Miles & the Mouse: http://margaritasmilesandmouse.blogspot.ca/2014/01/darn-you-mlb-disneyland-half-course.html

As of now the descriptions haven't changed, but it's definitely worth keeping an eye on. Whichever gets changed first could point towards what will actually happen. We can speculate until we're blue in the face but until something concrete is announced it's all just that. I'm still keeping my ears open for any word with some people that I know but so far no dice. All I heard was about Avengers awhile ago but nothing course related.

FYI in case anyone is interested. Run Disney has updated the page for next years Tinker Bell Half - May 7-10, 2014. Registration will open up on August 12. Looks like there will be the 5K, 10K, and half, but no challenge currently. I've heard rumors that they may hold off to add the challenge until 2016 for the 5 year anniversary.

I'll probably try and start a check in thread for Tink closer to the registration date.

Did anyone notice that on the runner info they removed the requirement that each person must pick up their own bib? It talks about a copy of that persons ID being okay now.

Looks right! Darnit, I checked and they okay Oakland A's at 12:35......

Yup! I posted a quote from the runDisney blog here after it was announced. The change will still go into effect in future race weekends, but we are safe this year (for this event) with what we are used to.

In case anyone missed my post a couple of weeks ago, here's the what the runDisney blog said about packet pick up again:

To help you plan for these upcoming events and address your concerns around travel, we have delayed the implementation of the new policy for events that are already publicly on-sale.

The original Packet Pick-Up Policy is in effect for the following events, allowing you to pick-up packets for other runners using the appropriate Packet Pick-Up Authorization Form:
•Expedition Everest® Challenge
•Disneyland® Half Marathon Weekend
•The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 10 Miler Weekend
•Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend

The new Packet Pick-Up policy, requiring all runners to pick up their own packets goes into effect starting with the Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland® Resort in November. This policy will also be in place for all runDisney events moving forward.

Thank you for your feedback, and we look forward to seeing you soon at a runDisney race!

There's still been no official announcement either way so everything is completely speculation until the course is actually announced. This isn't the first year there has been confusion over this matter.

Yep. They got some, um, feedback and realized that changing procedures for people AFTER they had already registered wasn't all that cool to do.

Here is their blog post when they announced it.

So just noticed this... 10k medal perhaps?! Is so... It's pretty awesome.

It's also posted as the logo on the official training programs. I was definitely hoping they would change the theme for the 10K each year. As much as I love Alice in Wonderland I don't think it is a great idea to be the same thing over and over and over for a race weekend that doesn't really have an overall theme, similar to the 5K's. Kind of making me regret my decision to go for the Half over the 10K. I like new medals!

Speaking of the training programs, if anyone plans on following them, they start pretty soon! The 19 week programs for the Half and Dumbo begin on April 29, and the 18 week program for the 10K begins on May 6!

I am using last years to prep for my first Half on May 18 and I Love it!!! Tomorrow's my 11 miles run, home stretch!!

I will be in the Disney area in about one week. I would love to be able to do some runs in the general area of where the Half marathon trail goes. I found routes from years past...will they likely be similar to this years? Is every year more or less the same route? Also, for anyone who lives and runs in that area, what are the current temps in the early morning (7am-ish) or late evening (8pm-ish)? As in, are you doing shorts and a tank to run? Longer pants? Short sleeve shirt? I prefer to dress cool even in the cool Pacific NW weather I run in, so just wandering if I should pack short/tanks to run in, or throw in a short sleeve or long sleeve in case it is on the cool side. Luggage space is at a premium so want to only pack the bare minimum for my runs ;).

The route has been the same the last two years so I would assume it would be the same this year. However, without all the added things disney does, the run would be rather dull with nothing to look at and a lot of running down large major streets

Hi all, I'm in for the Dumbo Double. I'm also getting my second coast to coast so I will be all blinged out! This is my first back to back race so I'm a little nervous, but I just ran the WDW marathon in Jan so I'm hoping that I can keep my training going. So excited to be coming "home" to Disneyland, I miss it so much! Are any of you guys doing anything else while in town? We have a side trip to Catalina Island planned, I'd love any other ideas too.

I'm doing DDD too and getting my C2C after doing the GSC at PHM. My kids are 5 and 7, so we're doing side trips to Legoland and Huntington Beach. Have a great trip!

Catalina would be an awesome place to go and relax at after the race. Wish I was going there after. Every year after the race I generally don't want to go to disney because I am so tired. We always just sit in the pool
