I just found out that I have booked my BC stay during Night of Joy, I don't know what that is. Does it bring more crowds? Should I move my vacation?

Night of Joy is a hard-ticket event at MK on Sept 5 and 6 featuring Christian Rock and faith-based musical performances. I don't think it will affect crowds at the parks during the day to a noticable degree and should only be a concern for your trip if you were planning on going to the MK on either of these nights.

:thumbsup2

We are on new thread watch... Once this thread hits the 250 page "Jumbo Status" it will be closed down, so sometime in the next week I will be starting up a new FAQ thread for us to share info, friendship and fun.

I'll be sure to leave some breadcrumbs so nobody gets left behind.

Thank you, I was freaking out for a bit that I will have to move my trip.

Thanks for the information about the campfire.

It was more of an if we catch it, fine, if we don't, no biggie non plan, anyway.

;)

I guess it says more about our park touring styles that in 4 trips to the World (and the newbie vibe is just now starting to wear off), we've yet to catch this, and I know the kidlet would enjoy it. But she doesn't have her heart set on it, so we're good.

We actually have two dinner ressies for Trail's End that night after our Animal Kingdom day. I'm still trying to work out which one works out better for our plans and gives us more time to make it a leisurely adventure, haha. When I figure it out, I'll cancel the other one. They're only about an hour apart anyway. I'm leaning toward keeping the later one, and if we happen to find ourselves at FW earlier, just seeing if they can accommodate us at the check-in desk.

Even with Animal Kingdom being open a little later, I don't see us closing down the park. I can easily see us getting everything we want to do finished and heading back to the BC a couple hours before closing time.

Regarding Trails End and FW, we thought about walking out to see the horses before or after our reservation. They do allow this, right?

Either way, we won't be in any particular hurry, so getting back to the BC at a certain hour is not a priority. We'd like to take a little evening swim, watch the movie on the beach, but this is one of our whatever goes days.

You guys are such a friendly, helpful bunch.

Love this thread.

It's part of the reason I'm not only just a Disney addict now, lol, but also a frequent lurker here at the DISboards. I have to get my daily fix.

You were on the 4th floor, right? We saw your decorations!

We just got back from our first stay at the YC. Our only real request was to have a daybed, which we were not given originally. We requested to be moved to a room with one, which they did immediately. The rooms are very spacious, but the room where the toilet/tub is is very, very small. We were in room 4114. LOVED the location (corner, at the end of the hall, and I don't think there was anyone in the adjoining room), but it was supposedly a garden view...um, no. We had three windows and they all looked out on parking lots. It was fine since we weren't in the room much, but it's very much a stretch to call this room garden view.

Extremely impressed with housekeeping. When we checked in, housekeeping was out in full force on our floor and a woman stopped by to make sure the room was acceptable to us. One day, we forgot to take our Privacy sign off the door, and housekeeping called to see if we wanted the room cleaned. We didn't get back from the park until 4:00 and they still sent someone up while we were at SAB and basically gave the room a turndown service, with chocolates, dimmed lights, etc. It was a nice touch. Then our son had an accident while he was napping, and they sent someone back to redo his bed while we went back to MK (we did strip the bed ourselves and left a tip on the bed because we felt bad since they had just been there).

Loved SAB and liked being within walking distance to DHS, which was the focus of this trip. Each morning and night we walked instead of using the boats and beat the boats every time. I do wish that they'd post a notice when the Friendship boats aren't running. We headed to DHS in the downpour Friday night and decided to take the boat since it was raining. We got to the end of the dock before the captain called over his loudspeaker that the boat wasn't running due to the weather. So then we walked to the bus stop...where we waited an HOUR for a bus. To DHS. Had it not been raining so hard we would have just walked again, because waiting that long for such a short trip is such a waste of time. Yesterday, we just missed a MK bus, but another came by about 10 minutes later so it wasn't that big of a deal.

ETA: Since we walked to DHS, we took advantage of the "secret" entrance/exit near room 1065. This was a HUGE time saver for us, so thank you to whoever posted that tip!

We were at the MK yesterday and John O'Hurley was there shooting some sort of commercial in the stroller parking area outside IASW. I then ran into him again in the YC lobby that afternoon! If the Yacht Club is good enough for J. Peterman, it's good enough for me. :thumbsup2

Glad you had a great time! Tell me more about the entrance exit near room 1065 for walking to DHS...I don't know about that one.

Thanks for the kind words about this forum.

I know a lot of threads here can get very disagreeable, but we try to keep the atmosphere here friendly, fun and informative. I am very proud of the positive vibe on this thread and the only time we have any issues is when someone tries to mess with any of our family members here (that's all of us- you too).

In response to cantwaitvaca, this is my first 5K. DD did it last year and loved it, so I decided I would try it. Very excited and a little scared!

Think of it this way, your strolling in World Showcase in the early morning. Your taking the long way around for your early morning ADR. LOL and you will get to stop and take pictures along the way. Just one step in front of the other. But be careful its addicting and you may wind up doing it every year!

Well, we got the additional ME express tags in the mail today.

Still no Magic Bands.

:confused3

At this point last year, they'd already come.

We're 21 days out, and all it says whenever I check on the MDE is they should be shipping soon.

I really don't wanna be stuck with the gray ones.

:worried:

At what point should I be worried enough to call Disney again? I already mentioned it to the CM when I called about our luggage tags (we only got tags for 2 out of 3 folks). I told her I'd try to sit on my panicky urges to keep calling, it being a holiday weekend and all; I figured that could have something to do with them arriving late.

Advice?

P.S. Wood Nymph...maybe we'll see you around.

Oohhh... You'll maybe you'll get to rent a scooter! Don't think of this as a catastrophe... In reality you are going to be just fine. The scooters are actually pretty easy to master and the bus drivers will help you load and unload from the buses. As far as all the whining about people driving scooters... as long as you are careful and not tooling around the parks at top speed you are going to do just fine. Don't let all those stories about scooter idiots make you worry.... those stories are about idiotic, inconsiderate people. Most people can handle the scooter safely and comfortably so don't worry... you are going to be just fine.

Think of all the fun you are going to have! First of all you are going to have to plan your "Scooter Outfits". You want the sort of outfit that screams "Don't mess with me, I'm a Scooter rider!". Think loud colors and lots of leather. If you can punk out your hairdoo that will really help to give the right kind of bad *** scooter person impression.

Next you are going to have to trick out your rental scooter. Cup holders and holiday decorations are mandatory. Plan on using battery operated lighting unless you have a really long extension cord (Reallly Looong!) Those pin wheels or wind socks make great scooter decorations, especially when you are moving so think about incorporating some of them in your scooter decorations.

Next you want to consider your scooter sound system. If you plan on playing hits from the 80's consider bungee cording a boom box on your scooter for that throwback look. Keep in mind that a good deterrent to people cutting you off is to play your tunes loudly and proudly. There is nothing like a good Rick Astley tune to keep people far away from you.

If you are going to EPCOT for food and wine you might want to "borrow" a tray from a quick service and bolt it on your rental scooter so that you can have a place to put all the goodies you will be trying. There never seems to be enough tables at Food and Wine so consider renting out your tray to other guests when you are taking a break from snacking.

Another useful idea and one that may help you recoup the cost of your scooter rental is to start up an Epcot Food and Wine delivery service. Some scooters may come with a basket on the front so take full advantage of that and start taking orders from other guests. You can expect tips in the neighborhood of 15-20 percent except if someone tries to use their "Scooter Tables in Wonderland" card and then it's an 18% tip.

So you see, having that bum foot and having to depend on a scooter isn't so bad. It's all in how you think about it! If you decide to make the best of it you are going to have a great visit. Remember that no matter what, you are going to be at WDW. Remember to be patient and don't stress and you will find that you are swept up in the magic of Disney.

I just read this aloud because I am cracking up. I was actually issued a manual roll-that-thing-yourself wheelchair. And, before reading this, had actually bought battery operated holiday lights. lol

Thank you for the fantastic laughs!
