They Don't Eat Hash Browns in Princessland - May 14 COMPLETE! 2/8 pg. 73

WOW that R2D2 skirt is so good!

I'm glad there's someone else who loves the Disney ducks :thumbsup2 I can spend a whole day at Animal Kingdom, and of course I like all the animals, but if I see a duck waddling around I will "squee" over it for as long as I can follow it :rotfl:

"Apparently, I didn't write down what happened on Star Tours, but knowing my luck, it was probably a pod race. It's always a stinking pod race."

YES! My thoughts exactly! Every stinkin time.

All that food from Pop looks great! I'm a big nacho fan. But bacon? In a cupcake?!? :crazy2: I think I heard about something similar, at Epcot maybe? And people seemed to love it! I am yet to try this but I don't think it would be for me either.. Kinda reminds me of the Epic Meal Time videos!

Whew, caught up on this one too. You didn't start a third one in the last month or so did you? :confused3 :rotfl:

I think I've got one or two more TRs to catch up on.

Woo! Finally caught up on the TR after a hiatus!
Your families costumes were great! hahaha!
also you have me hanging on the edge of my seat waiting to see what your favorite disney dessert is!

In typical Brittany fashion, my timing is impeccably horrible. However, after lurking many 'a Danielle trip reports, I have to say I absolutely adore them. And you. And Papadon. I'm so glad he's home! Praying for all of you!

:cool1::dance3::yay::woohoo::cheer2::littleangel: Good News!

Oh, interesting! So, we currently have BWV for both weekends, except our very last day is BCV - that is 5/25 evening, so just missing you, I think? However, we also have a wait list in for the rest of that weekend (5/22-5/25) at BCV. Maybe we'll be at the same resort at the same time!

Yeah, you would be just missing us at BCV. We check out on 5/25. I haven't booked flights yet, we're trying to fly out later, but we'll see.

That's awesome that you beach club came thru for SWW. Did you get any ADR's for the SWW meals? We have the breakfast on the 16th and after my experience with the one from last year my plan is to dress as Jabba the Hutt that day so that it fits in with all the food I'm gonna shove in my face :rotfl2:

I was excited that the wait list came through!

Hahahaha, that's awesome that you're dressing up as Jabba! We only did the dinner and not the breakfast, so hopefully the breakfast is good too.

Family comes first. :grouphug: All of your Dis friends will be here when you find time to get back to sharing your adventures.

I know your dad is going to be fine. You will all continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs to you and your mom

Thanks Dawn. Everyone's support during this time has been amazing.

We will all be here when you are ready to come back. I meant to ask you yesterday when we were texting if you wanted me to post a note on your TR's about Popadon, but then forgot. If it is easier for you to text me and have me update here and your other TR, I'll be happy to do so for you.

Thank you Kathy so much for posting updates while we were going through everything. I just didn't have the energy or the inclination to get on here and update, so I appreciated everything that you did.

I just commented on your other thread, but hope you know i'll be praying for you guys and i'll be watching FB for updates:goodvibes:goodvibes

Thanks Alicia, that means a lot. Everyone's support has been amazing.

Sending prayers and pixie dust your way. Tell Pop to get better soon...we need his antics in your trip reports!

{{HUGS}} to you and your mom!

Hang in there!

Lynn

We do need his antics on our TR's! Let's hope he recovers quickly.

I know I commented on IG, but wanted to say here as well that I am sending tons of pixie dust to you and your family!!! My dad had a massive heart attack 2 years ago, and it's just so scary.

Looking forward to hearing that your Popadon is back to himself soon :goodvibes:grouphug:

Thanks so much hon! It is completely scary and you feel like you have no control, which I know you're familiar with during your dad's heart attack. I think that's the most unsettling feeling of all.

Prayers and good thoughts sent your way for Popadon's speedy recovery.

Thanks so much. Everyone's support has been incredible.

This is from Danielle's FB (I told her I'd post the update here for those not on FB):

"Pop is out of surgery and being moved into the ICU. He did fine during the surgery, and the doctor says he knows he's a determined man and that he will be making progress in no time. We should be able to see him in the next hour, and then we will be sent home for the day so he can recover. Thank you for the continued support. He did have four blockages on the left side, so those have all been repaired."

Thanks again for posting these Kathy. :goodvibes

I enjoy reading your trip reports and following you on Instagram even though I don't "know" you.

Sending tons of pixie dust your dad's way!!

Thanks so much. It's a great community that we have and I do feel that you can definitely get to know people based on what we share here.

Thanks for this update. I have been wondering how he did. Sounds positive.

Thanks so much. He did great and now it's just recovery time more than anything.

:grouphug: Sending Prayers and Pixie Dust Your way.

Thanks so much!

This from Danielle's FB:

Visited Pop this morning and he's doing okay. Should be in the ICU another day or so. They have him sitting up and taking walks already to keep him moving. If anyone in the area is interested in visiting him, just send me a PM and I'll give you all the information you'll need. Thanks again for the love and support.

It's funny reading these it feels like such a blur. Like I almost don't remember when it happened. Everything has just turned into one big blob of activity.

Best wishes for Papa Don from New Brunswick, Canada! Get well soon! :goodvibes

Thanks so much!

Wishing Popadon a speedy recovery. It is amazing how quickly they get you up and walking again.

It is amazing, he's doing great. He can go up and down stairs without even hanging on to the railings already.

I just found your TR. It is wonderful. I really enjoyed reading it. I hope Pop is recovering quickly.

Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the well wishes too.

I hope Popadon has a great day today. Sometimes the second day after surgery is a little harder than the first because all the adrenaline starts to subside a bit.

Prayers and hugs for Popadon!

Thanks Mary Ellen. Yeah, he had some ups and downs but I can see the pain subsiding more and more each day, which is good.

WOW that R2D2 skirt is so good!

I'm glad there's someone else who loves the Disney ducks :thumbsup2 I can spend a whole day at Animal Kingdom, and of course I like all the animals, but if I see a duck waddling around I will "squee" over it for as long as I can follow it

I love that skirt too! I love finding stuff like that when I'm on vacation.

I love ducks, whether they're Disney ducks or not. They're so absolutely adorable, I can watch them all day long. And I have been known for squeeing anytime I see them too. Hahaha

"Apparently, I didn't write down what happened on Star Tours, but knowing my luck, it was probably a pod race. It's always a stinking pod race."

YES! My thoughts exactly! Every stinkin time.

OMG though, isn't it the truth!? Anytime I don't remember the details, I know that means that it was a pod race, because clearly I blocked it all from my memory.

Love all the Star Wars merch you bought, haha, the second one doesn't look like sheets :rotfl: I think it's really cute.

Great updates

The food at Pop is really good. They had a bacon cupcake in Epcot during Flower and Garden. I actually had it on this particular trip. Bacon itself in a cupcake is good, I've had it several times. You don't use very much and offset with the maple flavor or frosting, it turns out great. However, the King cupcake was just a hot mess of too many flavors. It was all of that making it icky. LOL.

Haha, that second dress is actually designed after sheets! Sheets I totally had when I was a kid.

Just read about Popadon. Sending lots of love to you and your family :flower3:

Thank you so much.

Wishing your dad a quick recovery!!

Thanks!

UPDATE

Popadon will be going home tomorrow. The chest tubes came out today and he said he feels so much better.

Thank you so much Kathy for updating Danielle's TR for us. the Dis family is just amazing. We have had such support. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH TO ALL.

Kathy was really great updating for us along the way.

Momma V, such great news. And you are most welcome for me updating. Please let us know if there is anything we can do. Danielle is going to let me know when you are all up for company and we will try to work out a date.

Um yeah!

Popadon is home from the hospital. :dance3::dance3::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::yay::yay::yay:

It was a god day.

Whew, caught up on this one too. You didn't start a third one in the last month or so did you? :confused3 :rotfl:

I think I've got one or two more TRs to catch up on.

I didn't start a 3rd one yet, no. I wanted to end this one first, but with the PHM coming up, looks like I'm going to be running three. Oh jeez.

Woo! Finally caught up on the TR after a hiatus!
Your families costumes were great! hahaha!
also you have me hanging on the edge of my seat waiting to see what your favorite disney dessert is!

Yay! I'm attempting to do an update today, so you'll find out soon

In typical Brittany fashion, my timing is impeccably horrible. However, after lurking many 'a Danielle trip reports, I have to say I absolutely adore them. And you. And Papadon. I'm so glad he's home! Praying for all of you!

Thanks so much! There's no such thing as horrible timing, don't worry one bit. We're glad he's home too. Now it's just the road to recovery.

:cool1::dance3::yay::woohoo::cheer2::littleangel: Good News!

 It was good news!

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone so much for their support during this difficult time with Popadon. The support that has come from the DIS community has just been amazing. It's been overwhelming from the posts on Facebook to here. It's great to know that he's cared about so much.

He's been at home for 4 days now. It's a day by day recovery at this point. He's able to go up and down the stairs without hanging on to anything, which is great. Sleeping is a struggle, because he's not able to lay on his side, and sleeping flat isn't comfortable either, so he's been sleeping on the recliner, which he says has been pretty comfortable for the time being.

We don't know yet if he'll be coming along for our Princess Half Marathon trip. The selfish side of me prays that he's going to be able to come, because nothing would make me happier than having my Pop there when I cross the finish line for my first half marathon. We're hopeful that the Dr. will have good news for us when he goes to see him on Friday and that he's on the road to recovery and for him to come on this trip.

Good thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

With that, I'm trying to wrap up this TR and then I can start my January TR. There may be a time when I'm running 3 at a time. Oh lord have mercy. :scared1:

Sunday May 25, 2014

Today was departure day. It's okay, we can all have a little sob together. This trip was one of my longer ones though, so that was definitely a plus. But I never want to leave Disney. I mean, let's be real, who does?

This may have been me that morning.

We headed over to the resort airline check in first, to get our bags checked and on their way to the airport. I absolutely love that feature at the Disney resorts, I'm telling you. Makes things so much easier, because I'm the kind of person that likes to fly late back home. It was fairly busy at AoA, but it didn't take us too long to get everything squared away. Baggage checked and ready, it was time for us to head out for the day.

Not before taking more pictures around the resort though.

Hmmmmmm. Mater used what? If it's the bathroom, then I'm out!

After our little resort exploration, it was time for us to say goodbye to Art of Animation. Even though we were only there for one night, I'm glad we got to stay at the resort to check it out. Maybe a longer stay will be in my future someday.

We headed out to the car and drove to our destination for the day. Where were we going?

Upon arriving at the TTC we were left with the choice between Monorail and Ferry Boat. What do we do?

While I am a lover of the monorail, I adore the openness of the ferry boat. It's a much more relaxing kind of trip.

Since we really didn't have a whole lot going on that day, we decided to head over to get some coffee first thing. It was hot. I wanted to cool down with some iced java loveliness..

Clearly, everyone else had the same idea we did.

Success!!!

Coffee goodness in hand, we were heading off to our first destination of the day.

I'm a fan of scurvy scum, what can I say.

Every single time I go by this scene, I can't help but say "Carlos! Don't be chicken!"

Hehehe drunk pirates and cats. What could be better?

As we headed out into the park, the Pirate's tutorial was going on. Couldn't help but stop and watch!

Continued in next post:

Continued from previous post:

After our ride on Pirates, our lunch reservation was approaching. It was our first time having lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. In all my years, we've only ever eaten there for dinner, so I was pretty excited. I was mainly eating there for one reason. We'll get there.

I don't know what happened, but basically as soon as we sat down, the antics began. You can't leave us unattended for too long.

It all started out nice and innocent.

Yeah. Don't even have words for this one. I'm sure the people at the table behind us thought we were clinically insane.

Yup. Like children at a table. We're examples of the kids you get upset with at dinner! You know, acting up all the time, can't sit still, acting like fools. That's us.

I ordered the tavern fried cheese. Mainly for 2 reasons.

1) It's fried.
2) It's cheese.

Lest we forget I live on the Wisconsin border, where we appreciate all things fried and cheese.

Pop got the clam chowdah. :lmao: Bahaha, sorry for real, I couldn't resist.

How did he feel about his chowdah?

My selection for lunch was the cheeseburger. It's good everyone, like really really good. And these fries are legit!

Pop got the pot roast.

Mom got the salad. It's really good too! We actually split the salad and the burger between us.

At some point during the meal, I believe that Pop started misbehaving or something. Because he got shamed, and this picture was the end result.

As a side note, the men in my family all do this. I'm not exaggerating at all. My Pop does it, my brother Jason does it, and my nephew Joaquin does it. You tell them something they don't want to hear, and they begin to fake pout almost immediately. Sad state of affairs with these guys. We don't fall for it at all!

And now ladies and gentlemen, I bring you to the entire reason I wanted to eat at Liberty Tree.

Not for fried cheese.
Not for a burger and scrumptious fries.
Not for the salad. Hahahahahaha. Sorry that was funny when I typed it.

Nope. The entire reason to go there was this beauty.

Ooey. Gooey. Toffee. CAKE!

Otherwise known as, I just drooled all over myself.

And then this was me while I devoured the entire thing.

This is now officially my favorite Disney dessert ever. It trumps everything I've had up until this point. Better than cupcakes, better than cake cups, ugh. I can't even.

Here's what it has going for it in my book.

1) Toffee. Chocolate covered toffee is one of my favorite treats anyway, so put it on top of something, that already takes it up a notch.
2) Ice cream. Because ice cream.
3) The cake part. It's not really cake, like they say it is. It's more brownie/cookie like, which is way better for me. I'm not a huge cake fan, regardless of what you might think.
4) Points 1 through 3 are COMBINED! Sooooo good.

I shared some of it with Mom, but I'm not going to lie, I basically ate it myself. Shameful yes. But I did it.

Mom did order the other dessert they have. It's craisin cake, which is what they have at dinner during the buffet. It's very yummy, it's just no ooey gooey toffee cake.

Pop got himself some sorbet.

So, based on this assessment, I say that Liberty Tree is so much better at lunch than it is at dinner. Hands down, so good. Nothing disappointed.

Lunch complete, we did manage to successfully roll ourselves out of there and on to the Haunted Mansion. I don't know how we did it. Some gas might have been involved. I'm not sure.

Oh hey Master Gracey, what's up?

No big deal, just a hitchhiking ghost sitting on my Doom Buggy.

We had a little bit of time left, so we decided to go wait in line for the Mine Train. It was open that day, and the wait time was posted at 45 minutes, so we figured why not. I think mainly because people still didn't realize that it was open.

Had to pass by the Tangled Tinkle spot first though. (hehe, Rob that still makes me chuckle every time).

Frying pans. Who knew.

I'm going to put you out of your misery early. We didn't get to go on the Mine Train again that day. We ended up waiting in line for 40 minutes, the ride shut down, and they escorted us out. NOT the way that I wanted to end my final day at Disney, but what can you do right?

We figured that was a sign that it was time for us to leave, so we headed out of the park. Our plane was sadly calling.

Good bye Magic Kingdom. We love you and we always know that we'll see you soon.

No dramatics involving our trip home, which was good. We had a nice flight, no issues, left on time. And a full day to recover with the memorial day holiday, yay!

Up next: Trip highlights.

Another fantastic trip report! I am so glad that PapaDon is home and on the mend. I hope he gets to go with you. I highly recommend renting a scooter if he needs rest! We did it for my Grandmother and it was fantastic!

It is SO fantastic that Popadon is home. I knew he would be, but it's fantastic nonetheless. Here's hoping for a very speedy recovery (which I'm also confident will happen).

*************

Yeah... so I just can't get on board too much with the "departure day" blues. Oh, yes, it's a terribly sad occasion for sure. A little less so when you've had TWO OTHER TRIPS AND ANOTHER ONE SOON after this one. :lmao:

I do love that they've added Canada to the departure check in. Sadly, it still only applies to US airlines. Whomp.

I think I'm the same way Danielle. The ferry is so relaxing so it kind of fits on the final day. But on the first MK visit on a trip, I need my monorail.

Haha, even if I did have a lot going on, I'm still heading for coffee first.

The clam chowdah. No need to apologise, that's the proper pronunciation. And also SUPER fun to say.

"Pop got himself some sorbet." :rotfl2: That just cracked me up for some reason. Perhaps its because of all the other ridiculous goodness.

Tangled Tinkle Spot... Always and forever. Tangled Tinkle Toilets is also acceptable.

Glad to hear Popadon is home and doing well. Fingers crossed the doctor lets him go on your next trip.

My husband swears that cheeseburger at Liberty Tree Tavern is the best burger in all of WDW. I swear that Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is the best dessert in all of WDW. Now I'm sitting here trying to figure out why we don't eat there every trip!

Another enjoyable trip report, Danielle! Good luck with the marathon and have a great time!

I'm soooo happy to hear that Popadon is doing better. I'll be praying that he'll be able to make it to your half marathon. I'd feel the same way as you. I'd want to know that at the end of the race, my family is waiting :goodvibes

Love that shot of your DM looking out of the boat with the castle in the background...and her Chanels on! :cloud9:

Oh my gosh that coffee image. Couldn't be truer!

"Don't tell him Carlos! Don't be cheeekin!":rotfl2:

Wow that cake looks magnifent!!

Yay, ready for highlights!
