They Don't Eat Hash Browns in Princessland - May 14 COMPLETE! 2/8 pg. 73

Great pictures at AOA.

You can't go wrong starting with coffee and then a ride on POTC.

Oh and now you are going to lunch to one of my favorite places.

I don't know what happened, but basically as soon as we sat down, the antics began. You can't leave us unattended for too long.

It all started out nice and innocent.

Yeah. Don't even have words for this one. I'm sure the people at the table behind us thought we were clinically insane.

I am all over the floor...this is hysterical.

Yup. Like children at a table. We're examples of the kids you get upset with at dinner! You know, acting up all the time, can't sit still, acting like fools. That's us.

You guys are the best.

I ordered the tavern fried cheese. Mainly for 2 reasons.

1) It's fried.
2) It's cheese.

I love the tavern fried cheese there.

Pop got the clam chowdah. :lmao: Bahaha, sorry for real, I couldn't resist.

I had the chowder last visit and it was really good.

How did he feel about his chowdah?

That's our Popadon.

My selection for lunch was the cheeseburger. It's good everyone, like really really good. And these fries are legit!

I agree (but I still like Plaza's French fries better).

Pop got the pot roast.

Mark's favorite.

Mom got the salad. It's really good too! We actually split the salad and the burger between us.

Ooooh...that looks yummy.

At some point during the meal, I believe that Pop started misbehaving or something. Because he got shamed, and this picture was the end result.

As a side note, the men in my family all do this. I'm not exaggerating at all. My Pop does it, my brother Jason does it, and my nephew Joaquin does it. You tell them something they don't want to hear, and they begin to fake pout almost immediately. Sad state of affairs with these guys. We don't fall for it at all!

I swear that Mark and Popadon are related somehow because Mark pulls the same thing ALL OF THE TIME!

And now ladies and gentlemen, I bring you to the entire reason I wanted to eat at Liberty Tree.

Not for fried cheese.
Not for a burger and scrumptious fries.
Not for the salad. Hahahahahaha. Sorry that was funny when I typed it.

Nope. The entire reason to go there was this beauty.

It looks great.

Ooey. Gooey. Toffee. CAKE!

Otherwise known as, I just drooled all over myself.

And then this was me while I devoured the entire thing.

This is now officially my favorite Disney dessert ever. It trumps everything I've had up until this point. Better than cupcakes, better than cake cups, ugh. I can't even.

Mark would tend to agree with you...he loves it (I don't like toffee).

Mom did order the other dessert they have. It's craisin cake, which is what they have at dinner during the buffet. It's very yummy, it's just no ooey gooey toffee cake.

I always get the Martha Washington Chocolate Cake.

So, based on this assessment, I say that Liberty Tree is so much better at lunch than it is at dinner. Hands down, so good. Nothing disappointed.

I never had dinner there, but then I am not a "Thanksgiving" dinner type person. But I do love the LTT for lunch.

No big deal, just a hitchhiking ghost sitting on my Doom Buggy.

I've never been able to get that photo.

I'm going to put you out of your misery early. We didn't get to go on the Mine Train again that day. We ended up waiting in line for 40 minutes, the ride shut down, and they escorted us out. NOT the way that I wanted to end my final day at Disney, but what can you do right?

That's too bad.

We figured that was a sign that it was time for us to leave, so we headed out of the park. Our plane was sadly calling.

Good bye Magic Kingdom. We love you and we always know that we'll see you soon.

No dramatics involving our trip home, which was good. We had a nice flight, no issues, left on time. And a full day to recover with the memorial day holiday, yay!

Up next: Trip highlights.

Always good when it is a smooth flight home.

Pouting Popadon! I would so fall for it though. I really hope he feels 100% soon, not just for himself, but so he can cheer you on on your big day! :cheer2:

Yep, I made an Lunch ADR at LTT solely for dessert as well! It is one of those things that actually lives up to the hype! HM is in a perfect location as you need to sit in the dark for a while to digest a LTT meal!

So glad Popadon is getting stronger and yes add me to the list of those hoping he can make the PHM trip. :goodvibes

I LOVE resort check in and luggage delivery on the way in with DME. I do remember the very last time for each and so happy that I could say never again.
The never ending snaking line WITH luggage at MCO? No Thanks.

Made good use of the last day. Sorry about Mine train being a no go.

LTT is still on my to-do list especially the Ooey Gooey. :goodvibes

Ho my god, the toffee cake. Every time I see it, I start to tear up with joy and lust. So. GOOD. Next time I'm getting my own. It is -- hands down -- the best at the parks. I really like desserts that have a balance of sweet and salty, creamy and crunchy. It's perfect.

Popadon is hilarious as always. Glad he's feeling better!! Hoping he'll be able to be at the finish line. I've only run two halfs, and my Pop hasn't been at either... But he CALLED me at mile 9 once and I think it helped me to finish!

Can't believe this one is over all ready. So glad that Popadon is doing better. I have my fingers crossed that he can go with you in February. Your TR won't be the same without him. :rotfl2:

I loved all of the AOA pictures. I really need to get by there someday to visit.

Nothing like MK to finish off you last day at WDW. I'm not a fan of coffee (please don't disown me. :rotfl:), it tends to make me sick, but those drinks look so good.

Scurvy Scum! I took two friends in 2011 that had not been to Disney. One of them picked up that phrase when we rode Pirates and we used it for a long time after coming home.

Lunch at Liberty Tree is soooo good! I'm not sure I would like that dessert you got, but I do love the Martha Washington cake.

That sucks that you waited 40 minutes and then had to leave the line. I've had that happen once or twice and it's a real bummer.

I'm so glad Pop is on the mend. Have been thinking of you all a lot. I completely understand your selfish thoughts of wanting him to come on the trip. I hope he is able to!

Great resort pics.

Your pics from LTT are hysterical!! Glad you found a new fave dessert!

Ugh what a bummer not getting to go on SDMT after all that waiting.

Successful travel is always a good thing. Can't wait to ready your wrap up post :)

Hi everyone!

He's been at home for 4 days now. It's a day by day recovery at this point. He's able to go up and down the stairs without hanging on to anything, which is great. Sleeping is a struggle, because he's not able to lay on his side, and sleeping flat isn't comfortable either, so he's been sleeping on the recliner, which he says has been pretty comfortable for the time being.

I am glad he has the recliner and hope that soon he can get back to a normal sleep position, that is so difficult. Outstanding on the stairs, that is great news.

We don't know yet if he'll be coming along for our Princess Half Marathon trip. The selfish side of me prays that he's going to be able to come, because nothing would make me happier than having my Pop there when I cross the finish line for my first half marathon. We're hopeful that the Dr. will have good news for us when he goes to see him on Friday and that he's on the road to recovery and for him to come on this trip.

I will be thinking of you guys on Friday!

Fun update even if it is tinged with the last day sadness.

I really do want a night at AoA one of these days, it is so cute.

I love the ferry, it is peaceful. Much more of a zen start to a MK morning or day versus the monorail. Unless you are late for an ADR that is, then it's very high on the stress scale!

LTT lunch looks great, one of these days I'll try that dessert. I do love toffee....just am not a huge sweets person so never order it. Is it wrong that you burger looks delicious and it's only 7am here?

Ha! Tangled Tinkle! I'm totally going to use that line on my daughter when we are there this summer. It also sounds like there should be a dance...the Tangled Tinkle Dance. Same as the regular tinkle dance, but just a few more complicated dance moves added onto the usual bouncing up and and down and constant feet shifting.

The toffee cake looks amazing. Unfortunately, I won't be able to try it because LTT is down for refurbishment July through November! :sad2:

:banana::woohoo::yay: Yay for improving Popadon!

Wonderful last update. ANd now you've got me looking at my schedual thinking of squeezing in another adr! :rotfl:

So glad your dad is continuing to improve. Sending :tink: he gets to come with you next month!

I love your dress. You always look so cute!
Thanks for another great TR.:)

I remember going to LTT a few years back and all the desserts were shrinking. Looks like they got back to normal size again! :cool1: All your food looks delish! And that burger! Is it wrong that I am now craving a burger? :rotfl2:

Popadom still has another 4 weeks to recoup. Remember - the first two weeks at home are THE WORST! No one feels good. No one sleeps right. Is your dad still taking oxy? is it Oxycodone or Percocet? If he's off narcotics or if he's just taking oxy have him take Tylenol 650mg - 1mg twice a day, no matter what. It really will help with the stiffness and soreness. Do that for a week or so to help get him over the hump. Tylenol actually works well for the bone pain. Motrin works well for the inflammation, but I don't want to recommend that without knowing more about his other meds and medical condition.

Pop's surgery hasn't even been two week ago. Give him a chance. Wait two more weeks before you make any decisions and tell him to hang in there. It's all normal and it will get better! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I'm so so glad to hear Popadon's doing better. I'll be sending good thoughts your way Friday!!!

Leaving Disney is the actual worst. I get sad just thinking about it.

I LOVE YOUR DRESS!!! It is so cute!

Mmm your drink looks delightful.

"Fried" and "cheese" are excellent reasons for ordering the fried cheese. It looks delicious.

That dessert looks UNREAL. Excuse me while I go add "eat lunch at LTT" to my list of priorities in life.

Aw man, so disappointing about the Mine Train. At least you got to see the Tangled Tinkle Toilets/Princess Potties/Royal Flushes before you left.

I might have licked the iPad at the LTT desserts. GET IN MY BELLY

Sorry you didn't get n 7dmt and that you had to leave. Wahhhhh

Also- soooooooo glad you pop is doing better! Yippee and prayers for your upcoming race. :yay:

Awww... Bummer that you didn't get in your Mine Train ride to end the trip. However, I think that meal at LTT might have made up for it. Your meal looked delicious!

Sorry to see this trip end, but I'm glad you still have another one going, with more to come! Also glad to hear that Popadon is feeling a little better. Hoping he's feeling much better soon!

So excited to hear about Popadon's progress!!! It's amazing how the body can heal after something like that. I'm really hoping that he gets to make your PHM trip, because having him there at the finish line will be an experience like no other! (My Dad still makes the 45 minute trip on race days at Disney, even though he only stays for about an hour in the family reunion area, and it means so much to have him there).

I've never eaten at LTT either, but it is now definitely on my short list of places to go next time! We usually stick to QS or no-ADR necessary places for lunch, but this looks like a plan-ahead-worthy lunch! :)

So glad to hear that Popadon is doing well. I will definitely keep him in my prayers though

You are a master at TRs for sure. I'm having a hard enough time keeping two active.

AoA is so beautiful. I want to stay there someday too.

Oh my goodness, the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is sooo good. In September we went to Liberty Tree Tavern for the first time too and Marie was there for the same reason you were. Just for dessert.

Oof not cool that you didn't get to ride the Mine Train. Did they give you any fastpasses or anything to make up for being escorted out? I guess not since you left afterward. What a bummer.

Good trips home are always better than bad ones, at least.

Hope Papadon is continuing to recover well. I'm sure you all,are taking great care of him and probably taking a few pictures he would soon like to forget ; )

We broke our proverbial ooey gooey toffee cake cherry last trip too and it certainly won't be the last time. We came for the ooey gooey, we loved the ooey gooey, too much to bathe in it?

Thanks for letting us come along on what is always a fun filled trip. Can't wait for the wrap up

First off, I hope Pop’s recovery is going well and that he gets to come along to see you run. :goodvibes

Ha, if I can (sort-of) handle doing two TRs and a PTR at once, you can certainly do 3. :rotfl: ::yes::

Love wandering around AoA…wish I’d gotten to do more than a few minutes of it. One night there would be great!

Hehehe drunk pirates and cats. What could be better?

Drunken cats? :confused3 :rotfl2:

Never been to LTT, but that cheese and dessert both sound great! One of these days it will make the list. (And I totally understand the cheese thing – I was born in WI and therefore have the “cheese gene” :thumbsup2). Now I am really fighting myself so that I don’t make an 18th ADR for May (I need to slash like ½ as is). :sad2:

Ugh, 40 minutes and you just have to leave?! No ride or FP? Bummer. :sad1:

Looking forward to the highlights!

Hi! I just wanted to say that I absolutely loved your TR! I read the whole thing in one day! :thumbsup2You have a wonderful family and your trip seemed so memorable and fun! I loved the resorts you stayed at throughout your time in Disney.

I am also a fan of Hot Topic clothing and accessories! :thumbsup2 A recent discovery, but one can say I've become a bit obsessed.:goodvibes

I look forward to reading more of your awesome reports and I can't wait to hear how the marathon goes for you! You'll be awesome!

-Alison (FantasiaMagic) :wizard:

Another fantastic trip report! I am so glad that PapaDon is home and on the mend. I hope he gets to go with you. I highly recommend renting a scooter if he needs rest! We did it for my Grandmother and it was fantastic!

Thanks so much! We're glad that he's home and on the mend too. We're hoping he can come with, but ultimately we need to do what's best for his health.

We did already put a rental in for a scooter, so we're all good there. :goodvibes

It is SO fantastic that Popadon is home. I knew he would be, but it's fantastic nonetheless. Here's hoping for a very speedy recovery (which I'm also confident will happen).

*************

Thanks so much Rob. We're happy that he's home and recovering. Every day he's acting more like himself, which is very comforting.

Yeah... so I just can't get on board too much with the "departure day" blues. Oh, yes, it's a terribly sad occasion for sure. A little less so when you've had TWO OTHER TRIPS AND ANOTHER ONE SOON after this one. :lmao:

I do love that they've added Canada to the departure check in. Sadly, it still only applies to US airlines. Whomp.

I know right?! Two trips after this one, another coming up, and then another in May. Eeeeeeeepppp. I have issues.

I think I'm the same way Danielle. The ferry is so relaxing so it kind of fits on the final day. But on the first MK visit on a trip, I need my monorail.

Haha, even if I did have a lot going on, I'm still heading for coffee first.

I love the monorail, I really do, but I often weigh out my options when it comes to the crowd level of the monorail. I'm generally not a fan of it when I'm jammed in there with so many other people. :lmao:

The clam chowdah. No need to apologise, that's the proper pronunciation. And also SUPER fun to say.

"Pop got himself some sorbet." :rotfl2: That just cracked me up for some reason. Perhaps its because of all the other ridiculous goodness.

Tangled Tinkle Spot... Always and forever. Tangled Tinkle Toilets is also acceptable.

You can't not say chowdah! And normally, right after I say that I'm tempted to say that I pahked the cah in the Hahvahd yahd. :rotfl2:

LOL, I feel so bad that he can't share in the goodness! The sorbet is basically all he can eat that won't cause him to go in a diabetic coma. :lmao:

Tangled tinkled anything, that's what it is. LOL.

Glad to hear Popadon is home and doing well. Fingers crossed the doctor lets him go on your next trip.

My husband swears that cheeseburger at Liberty Tree Tavern is the best burger in all of WDW. I swear that Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is the best dessert in all of WDW. Now I'm sitting here trying to figure out why we don't eat there every trip!

Another enjoyable trip report, Danielle! Good luck with the marathon and have a great time!

Thank so much! We're really happy he's home and hope that he mends quickly. It's getting better every day.

For real though! The burger at the Plaza is really good too, but I would prefer LTT just so I can get the ooey gooey toffee cake.
