One last thing about Lou's podcast... sometimes he has Jim Korkis, a Disney historian, on the show. He tells AMAZING stories about the history of Disney World. Highly recommended.

If you're a Disney fan -this is as good as it gets ....hands down!

The Disney Studios show they did was one of my favorites -packed with more information than you could ever imagine. Like a comedian that knows they have you on the ropes, and just keeps throwing punchlines at you.

First off, I want to thank every one for the kind words and support for me. It's not something I hear much
This surprises me. I suppose a lot of listeners aren't aware of the amount of work it takes to get just one show on the air. Hard work aside, your sense of humor keeps me quite amused.

Older Ladies? If I am included in this group
Never in a million years ... crazy cat lady, most definitely, but "older", never.

I've been listening about 18 months. I confess that it took me a month or two to warm up... I agree with someone on another post - I wanted the know the backstory of how everyone knows each other, etc. But..after a while, I fell in love with the podcasts - and everyone on it. I am from CT and grew up in FL. Pete and John and Kevin each have mannerisms that make me feel like I am listening to a family reunion!! Hysterical!! Theresa and Kathy totally crack me up!! I love and can relate to Julie's mama-bear persona ("Get that smoke OUT of my kid's face people!!"). I respect the Herculean effort from Dustin and Craig (and Shaun in previous times)... I can only imagine the effort to cart around all the equipment, etc. I can tell Corey is a great Dad. Who doesn't like to hear about that!?

When I sense a little tension, it does make me uncomfortable (a little TOO close to home, you know?)...but I only sense it when Pete gets annoyed - usually b/c people are talking over each other or he suddenly realizes the time and seems annoyed that the schedule is late?

I agree with a previous post that the INTERACTION btwn all of the parties is one of the podcast's strengths. I would suggest doing whatever is necessary to allow that interaction to flow freely (respectfully of course) and in a relaxed way. JL has some professional hosting experience if I recall and it seems to me that she naturally has a more structured "polished" style as a result. I think the style is great for some settings...but, the being a table member probably isn't one where it can be most appreciated. I think that it is more useful when she is LEADING the table however (she did an awesome job at a live event where they talked about what turned you into a Disney person?) or doing something more formal - like interviews. Otherwise.... I hope she can relax...and have fun sharing her experiences and opinions... they are highly valued!!

I wonder if the restraint against the "free flow" interaction is the 1 hour time constraint. I feel like the podcasts often end quite abruptly - like the clock is being watched and oops...time to go! I say, let the river run a bit!... maybe there is a higher cost when the time goes over 60 or 65 minutes? If not, who cares if it sometimes goes a bit over? For example... I am surprised that the 7 in 7 series (A TOTAL FAVE by the way!!) only warranted an hour for each resort. I am surprised that there wasn't enough enough content for at least 2 hours each! Rooms, Dining, Pool, Overall Feel, Kid-Perspective, etc...

btw... what is the difference btwn Housekeeping and Rapid Fire? The mentioned topics seem to run together for me...

I am continually impressed with the 2nd episode each week... this week's topic is brilliant! Baby powder!? flashlights!? small night lights? I got some great ideas.

That's it Guys - THANKS for doing it. I live in Europe now and only make it to Disney once/twice a year. I live vicariously thru you (and my sister who lives in Tampa). The podcasts really brighten up my Tuesdays and.... cause great procrastination for me on Wednesdays! but... it is great for my iPod during many many flights...

More Dining Reviews would be awesome!! Monthly segment??

A member could probably answer this better, but I think the show length is what it is because they feel this is what the average listener will commit to -whether it is an attention span thing, lunch hour timeframe, average work commute time, etc.

Housekeeping is just small news updates in the parks or related to Disney or related to the team themselves (ie attraction closings, change of hours, dates of events, etc.)
Rapid Fire is when each one has a particular thing they want to briefly talk about for the week.

I have to disagree as well, I totally love the show, The difference of opinions of each of them is great. I like the clean look of the show. They have really progressed with the video aspect of it. BTW 13 Days to GOOOO, March 9-17.

2005 Oct Pop Century
2008 Disneyland
2010 Pop Century
2012 Pop Century
2013 Art of Animation

Great interaction between the team. I like that they say when they don't agree with certain issues about Disney and they have their own opinion. When a restaurant has gone done hill or it seems Disney is just trying to squeeze more money out of their guests, and they think it has they say so. Or if Disney does something that is great. I love their honesty.

I have enjoyed the new Universal show and I think that Universal is stepping up their game and to hear Craig's opinions on them is refreshing.

I took a long break after Shaun's departure. I just don't think that was handled well. I will leave it at that.

I am a long time listener/subscriber. I can lament the good old days, but I do think they might be heading in the wrong direction. One fairly new addition was a big mistake, IMHO. It is ironic, but I think the show is coming full circle. In the beginning, Pete and John realized the the slick, commercialized podcast they started with tv personalities wasn't working, so they came onboard with a more personable approach. I think that was their key to success. We appreciated their honesty and insight.

I didn't become a fan because of the production value of the show. I listened because I enjoyed what was said, not how it was said. Some of my favorite shows were the ones with little to no editing. It understand the necessity of blocking out a live show, but ironically the show lost some of it's personality when it went to Youtube.

I too have been disappointed in the podcast lately, I feel that the panelists are being censored and they are increasingly hesitant in expressing their views. I really like the panelists, but I don't like the way they are cut off when they are expressing their opinions.

This. Don't get me wrong, things change, and I do certainly expect the podcast to keep changing and evolving as time goes by. However, listening these days does feel different in a not-so-positive way. And before I go any further, this is just my .02 here. Feel free to add or disagree.

I've been listening since 2009, so I did miss out on the Bob years. Normally, I play the podcast during my commute/ on lunch breaks. Making time to watch isn't something I'm interested in, and the audio fits perfectly into my daily routine. Anyway, I'd been pretty happy with the different changes up until recently. I like Dustin's positive attitude, and Craig (50/50). Sometimes it's dry humor, and other times I catch the vibe that he might not want to be there. He'll sigh and read things. Doesn't come off well to me. BUT on the other hand, Craig also brings a unique point of view to the show that isn't always rose-tinted, and I really appreciate that. And I grew really partial to Shaun due to his enthusiasm for the parks and Disney culture. He was one of my favorites until he was gone. Not sure what happened there.

The team will change and grow, and that's fine. It's become a treat now to have either Pete, Kevin, John, Kathy, Cory, Julie, or Teresa in any combination on the show. I guess I'm partial to this version of the team because they were on when I started listening. Also, the conversations back then also felt more natural. Maybe it was because they knew each other better? Who knows, could be any number of reasons. The new team that's on now doesn't have that same history, and, I'll be blunt here- that same chemistry just isn't there. To me, it feels like some of the newer team members treat the show as a job. Do it and it's done. It's tighter and more scripted, and I'll also be honest here and say that I'm not a very big fan of Jenilyn. I don't like what she brings, and that's just my preference. Maybe the group will become tighter as time goes by. But if the crew becomes a revolving door, and people don't stay, there's little chance of that chemistry coming back.

I don't know. I'm not jumping to download the podcasts like I used to. I'm not going to stop listening just yet, but my interest has steadily wavered. I'm surprised someone was actually brave enough to post a thread like this. It's what I've been thinking, but keeping to myself. Now I know I'm not the only one.

I have been listening since early 2007. People come and go in all aspects of life and this always changes the dynamics of a group. You certainly cannot expect the same individuals to be there forever. I remember when Teresa was new and seemed shy; didn't say much [which I now see is not true]. Kathy came on with what seemed no sense of humor [which I now see is not true]. Craig seemed to hate Disney [which I now see is not true]. Then we've had Walter, Scott, Will and a few others that were there . . . and then gone.

I suspect that "some" of this constant complaining is over Shaun . . . but it's time to move on. It's apparent he has. How many times has your favorite local newscaster or DJ on a local radio station disappeared without any send-off. It does happen and I'm sure it cannot be discussed.

And if you can't accept the changes . . . just unsubscribe.

Good thread and some interesting posts!

I've been a listener since nearly the beginning and have always enjoyed the show. With that said, I too feel that things have not all changed for the better, but it's not terrible by any means either.

I am a "listener" only and don't have the time to view the video feeds live, or after hours. I tend to listen in the car, or while mowing the lawn more than anything. I feel that since the start of the video podcast, things have gotten a bit too "professional", if that even makes any sense. It seems that the more comfortable laid back feel is not the same anymore. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy all the podcasters, but it's just "different". I love Pete, but he does seem to be a bit more tense lately when someone say doesn't have something setup just in time, or misses a Q somehow.

The only other thing that has bothered me over the years is when a podcaster leaves; in many cases, it's as if they just vanished off the face of the earth. Not all of them mind you, Will comes to mind as well as Bob of course, but others. Shaun, the guy from Mulch Sweat and Sheers, name slips me, and even one of my favorites, Walter. We get to know these people and think of them as friends over time, and when they are just gone, with no word as to why, it makes me wonder what happened.

OK, mini tiny rant over, LOL. Back to listening to my still favorite podcast!

There's maybe a certain "careerist" aspect to some of the newer people...I can't blame them for not wanting to get on Peter's bad side or say anything too critical of Disney. Peter and Disney are not to be trifled with. Dust West and JenniLynn are rightly skittish...its a rough and volatile job market, and who knows where they are going to be in a few years? Why make enemies when you dont have much skin in the game? Peter and the veteran crew are more established so they can speak their (considerable) minds. Love you guys! Again, its not like Dust West or JL are slobbering over Disney like Mongello, so its not unbearable by any means.

I do wish the crew would do some video reporting from the water parks. Also, it might be good to have some perspective from persons of color. Also, British people are passionate about Disney and exceedingly well-spoken. I think it would behoove the show to get some interesting international perspective, rather than say, another 30-ish white dude on a webcam from Indiana. That said, I love the show and its far superior to any of the other podcasts, except maybe Jim Hill's or the WDW Today boys.

I enjoy the video but I also just listen as I do work around the house and I enjoy both. Craig makes me laugh ,and I enjoy Dustin as host also, I have to say I am partial to the days when John , Kevin , Pete, Corey, Julie , Theresa and Kathy are on. I know this is not always possible, but I enjoy the chemistry beetween them best. The dis by far is the best podcast around :)

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but I have noticed some recent changes that lead me to believe they are trying to become a more "serious" podcast, for lack of a better word. They've recently added two new shows - The Trip, and the Dis Unplugged Universal Edition which has seemingly improved since the last version with Shaun. They've recently installed new and better camera equipment and have re-done the studio. They've also added JeniLynn who is a known figure in the Orlando area with her local news spots. I also find JL to be well spoken, and adds a professional type of element from her own experience in the industry. Seems like they are trying to keep professional and go more "big league" to be taken more seriously in the podcast world and Disney fan world in general (not that they weren't taken seriously before!). They are clearly investing more time and money into the production of it than ever before. As a result, more time and preparation goes into it, which might be why it seems scripted and less off the cuff.

I know in the Universal show, Craig and Shaun would frequently banter and be silly, and I suspect that was shut down. Pete seems to hone everyone in when they get like that during the show - Craig rarely crosses that line now, and Pete sometimes seems irked when someone makes jokes that crack everyone up. This also leads me to believe he's trying to produce a more serious, in-depth, professional type of show.

Personally, I'm a fan of all the podcasts and regularly listen. I'm enjoying the new shows. I like the noticeable uptick in production value as well.

I'll assume you are referring to JL in the first part of the above quote. At the end of the day, it IS a job for JeniLynn, and also Dustin and Craig. The podcast and some of the content on the web site is their full time jobs. They get a salary and presumably benefits. The rest of the team - John & Kevin have Dreams and their vacation rental business, Theresa has the Welcome Center/Dreams, Corey has the site/boards. I know Kathy blogs some and may book for Dreams too. And Julie is a stay at home mom I do believe. Dustin and Craig are on their own and JL is a single mom with a family to support. This is their main gig. So they have no choice but to take it seriously and produce the best content they can. JL is always on FB posting about what she's working on, researching, etc. They put a lot of effort into it which makes them more prepared rather than scripted, IMO.

Don't take this the wrong way - totally respect your opinion, just wanted to give this view from a different perspective :goodvibes

I think this is what I was not able to pinpoint. And it became more clear to me after listening to the Universal Show from February 12th when Jenilyn mentioned that she watched all of the Harry Potter movies and now 'gets it'. I actually heard her personality during that show and it was honestly the first time that I heard some inflection and excitement in her voice since she started on the DisUnplugged. I felt like she was an actual person and not a Stepford mom. This makes me wonder if an above poster is right - maybe Pete is trying to produce a more polished, professional sounding podcast going forward. If so, I hope the individual personalities do not get quashed in the process.

See, this is what I LOVED about the Universal show last year. I actually wish they'd do more of this on the Orlando show and the new Universal show. The Trip has a little more of a relaxed feel and I find that Teresa and Jenilynn are more "real" and relaxed on that show and I like that.
As many have said, the team feel like friends, like we are listening to our mates chat about Disney and I actually like when they joke, laugh and make inside jokes or innuendos etc. it makes it feel more "homely" or something.
I loved the chemistry between Craig and Shaun, they reminded me of two guys who are quite well known in Australia who have had a radio show (and a few TV shows) and they are actually best friends and you can tell the way they interact that they really are mates. Craig and Shaun gave me that feeling and I laughed and laughed when they were on. Craig was animated, Shaun giggled, hilarious!!

But then, I love that style. But I also love hearing about the business side and news of Disney, not living in the USA, we don't hear about that sort of stuff unless we go looking, so while I love the fun, friendly and relaxed environment, I also appreciate when they can become serious and talk about serious things.
And don't even get me started on Pete's rants... they're so good!!

I'm another person who's been listening since Bawb days...My OPINION is this. Yes, the show has changed. No, I don't like it as much as I used to. When John and Kevin aren't there, there just isn't too much spark in it for me. One new person in particular gets on my nerves so much I cringe when this person speaks. Sometimes people can become a bit self-congratulatory, and that puts me off. However, I still listen. Why? It's kinda like being with a group of friends. Some of them may get on your nerves, and some of them you like better than others, but you are part of a group. I find that with and through the show I've made some really wonderful friends in real life. I value the show for bringing that to me. So I return, week after week, to hear from that core group. I would be so sad if the show went away, and I may not like the way some things go, but I still can't give it up completely.

I will say I agree with a lot of this. I only started listening last year, probably around March. I have no idea how I found the boards, probably in a Google search, and then I found the podcast. It was my first Disney podcast but now I'm hooked and listen to a few more, but none hold a candle to the Dis Unplugged.

That being said, I first started listening, and then I went back and listened to a ton of old episodes as well. I love episodes with Shaun and Craig's humor, Kathy and Teresa's friendship, Kevin and John's jokes, etc. I feel like the chemistry was fantastic. Not knocking JL, but she is not my favorite member of the podcast, I'll just leave it there. But I do agree w/ someone above when they said that it's truly a job for her. I much prefer to hear Teresa, Kathy, or Julie's perspective, as opposed to JL. Just my two cents.

I do love the Podcast and I'll always listen, like I said I haven't been around since the Bob days, but a lot of times you feel like you're sitting around the table with a bunch of friends, and I LOVE that! Dining reviews and 7 in 7's are my favorite. I keep the Ohana and Liberty Tree 'Soup Kitchen Thanksgiving' episodes around when I need a good laugh. :)
