Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

That is exactly our same plan! We booked all our FPs for after 6:00 and we're just going to chill and swim or golf or whatever during the first part of the day. We are night people and love the parks at night!!

It's the best of both worlds....relaxing during the day then playing in the parks at night! We are night people too. That's one of the benefits of having teens!

I will be at the Yacht Club in April next year! Can't wait. I'll be flying over from the UK; and the one thing that concerns me is I've head about lower limits on aircon in the rooms, (which I believe is 72F?); Being from an island with persistently crap weather and climate - and thus much lower average temperatures - I won't be able to sleep in that kind of heat (being 72F). I've also read there are tricks you can use to override the thermostats; but presuming this doesn't work for reason XYZ, would the front desk and/or maintenance people be willing to help us out with this? -- I mean, it's not like you don't already pay enough to stay there; sleeping comfortably shouldn't be too much to ask!

Depends on how fast your luggage comes thru and how long the line is at the rental counter, plus traffic. I wouldn't expect to be at BC until close to 5pm. I wouldn't book a dinner before 7pm, but that's just me. Counter service might be your better option since all table service restaurants have the 24 hour cancellation policy. I'd hate for something to delay you (which has happened to us several times).

I was worried about something coming up and rushing and not being able to make it to a dinner. My other issue is that I have read so many good thinks about Via Napoli and the only other day I can get it in is Monday night when we return from Discovery Cove but the only time open is 8PM

Wanted to say that JetBlue will still give you a credit if the price goes down, but there is a fee. The amount of the fee is based on (a) how much you paid for your flight, and (b) how soon you will be traveling. If you would come out ahead, you can call JetBlue and they will give you JetBlue credit. The credit has to be used within one year. I think it's within one year of when you booked the flight, but I'm not sure. In the past, some people said they were able to do it themselves online, but I could never figure out how to do it online, and nobody was ever able to tell me.

you can manually adjust the temp to what ever you want...

Ah right, I was under the impression that 72F was as low as it would go?

Hello! I am in total agreement with you - must have the room super-cool at night. Even though we keep our nighttime temp. at about 71 at home, that always feels too warm in the rooms at WDW, so we typically lower the temp. to about 68 to sleep comfortably.

Sounds good, I'm just afriad I'm going to need it more like 58~60, lol. I really can't sleep in a warm room! One of the downsides of being British! We're not acclimatized to anything over 60~62!

Dee-

Do you plan to do a Trip Report for your Yellowstone adventure? It's definitely on our list when our girls are a couple years older. Our good friends have gone and I plan to use all the tips and tricks I can! I know many people complain about Disney being complicated to plan, but a big National Park trip boggles my mind!

We just closed on a DVC contract and had just changed our YC cash stay to a VWL stay on points when we saw the availability pop up on the DVC member site. Needless to say we immediately switched to our home resort of BCV!:cool1: So if you could change our Be our Guest list from YC Aug 15-23 to BCV Aug 15-21. We are then switching to VWL unless our waitlist for the last two nights comes through. Thanks:goodvibes

Love saying this: :welcome: Welcome Home! :welcome:

Congrats! I wish I could convince my husband to buy into DVC. When he was in his twenties, he and his parents were held captive at some time share presentation in Lake Tahoe. It scarred him for life, apparently.

I tend to be cold all the time, but I figure I can put on layers so my husband doesn't burst into flames at night. I was with my sister in Sedona a few years back. It was June and easily 100-105 F during the day. My sister asked if we could turn the thermostat up a bit. I said sure. Apparently turning it up meant turning the AC off completely. When I started to sweat, I told her to put on a sweater and put the AC back on. This is the same person I'll be sharing a room with this August in Orlando, so I'm looking forward to a rinse and repeat of that experience. I think I'll tell her to go hang out on the balcony and enjoy the balmy weather.

I'm glad to hear so many folks are fans of JetBlue. I've never flown them before. I've never had any issues with the low-cost carriers, to be honest. It's the big ones that make me crazy. But Frontier and the fee for a carry on in the overhead bin is just ridiculous, in my opinion.

Disney Jr. was showing Sleeping Beauty tonight. Aria had never seen it, so we were watching it. At the point where Maleficent is trying to kill Prince Phillip and then turns into a dragon, Aria said, with all seriousness, "Mommy, she's making bad choices." Yes, my child, she is.

I came across this floor plan with room numbers for the YC, but I am not sure if it already has been posted here, or not.

Scroll about halfway down the page. It is an older map, so it does not reference any garden/wood view rooms; however, there is a lot of useful info here.

Sorry, if this has been posted previously.

What is a "King Murphy bed". Is that a bed that is pulled down from what looks like a cabinet in the wall? I have never seen this at WDW. Do they exist?

Yes, I think that is what it is. If I am not mistaken, there were some Murphy beds at the resort in the past, but they no longer have them in the Beach Club or Yacht Club rooms.

Is there talk now of possible Murphy Beds in the villa studios after the remodel? I'm actually not following that news as closely as I should.

:)

Not sure where I seen the pictures of the 2br model for BCV and in the studio portion under the tv is the Murphy bed. It looked exactly like what we had at VWL. It has two little clips on the top that slide for the bed to fold down.

Found it. This is the Murphy bed. They will have theming when bed folded down. At Wilderness Lodge it was Bambi.

This is probably a silly question, since I'm sure I would've found something about it in all the reading through of this thread, but..... Does SAB have cabanas that can be rented like the other deluxe resorts? Thanks!

Thank you:goodvibes That happened to my family when I was a kid in the Poconos:faint: If DVC was anything like the traditional timeshares where you have to give up your first born just to get out of the presentation I don't think we would have been interested:rotfl:

Dee, I'm not a fan of the FP+ system, or the changes to it since last year. I could not stack my passes back to back, it kept adding time in between. I had to switch days I planned Anna / Elsa meet because they only had evening hours available. Then I had to update all of my touring plans again with the nickel and dime times I reserved, which is no easy feat considering I had to force items into the plans that touring plans does not have as options, like meeting Peter Pan, Gaston, or Aurora. But a day or so later, with the bonus of map symbols for Fastpass+ kiosks, I might be set.

I thought about switching my Wednesday from AK/ceramics class/blizzard beach to BB/ceramics class/AK - but it appears AK will be less crowded in the morning and why not do the water park in the hotter part of the day. How many hours do you need to go on all the slides, not interested in laying out on display in the sun or shade?
